I take it this has got your blood boiling:
Sorry to hear you dont support a joint venture to promote and improve mental health in the town. Lets hope you and your family never have to use such a support network as MH is truly awful and leads to a lot of suicides in men.
Absolutely agree here CW.
The head coaches/managers who always want older heads are often the ones who aren’t that good at developing players. If Maloney is a good coach, then he should relish having some young, hungry players to work with.
It’ll be the ones who are legends in their own mirror thinking they are too good for L1 and too good to play for a club that is starting on -8, whilst conveniently forgetting that they were a key part of the same club that got relegated last season.
It’s a dying sport, no one’s bothered no one cares especially
Yet you care enough to post about it on a thread (supposedly) about Reading’s points deduction.
Weren’t Sunderland once known as “The Bank of England Team”?
Are you going to recind the trophies won in your glory days?
Doesn’t count because it was before 1992/1978/2013* which seem to be the only recognised unit of measurement on here.
* Delete as appropriate
Sorry mutt im sure Notts county hold the record for being relegated
Thanks. I took the information from Wikipedia. Perhaps the source was also using the Cockney Latic method of measurement to prove his “fact”.
Last 30 years your success for such a (huge) club 44k a week on in prem days……well dropping 16k a week when relegated. It is very simple Wigan have achieved far more than Sunderland since entering league football. Continually over achieving whilst you have not even touched mediocrity. According to a lot of your supporters success should be linked to attendances!!!…teams like Luton,Brighton,Bournemouth shouldn’t be allowed to dine at the big boys table….seats should be reserved for your like. Its great that teams like Luton have achieved so much ,well managed ,structured on small attendances. If the prem heiracy had their way prem positions would be guaranteed for the Leeds,Sunderland,Leicester etc……rewarding mediocrity would guarantee you lot an eternal membership. Thank F%%% it doesn’t!!!
Still not quite sure over what period you are judging “bigness”. Is it 30 years, or since 1978? If its the latter, does that mean AFC Wimbledon are equally as big as Wigan, with one FA Cup win, and both bigger than Newcastle?
For the record, I have no issue with any club winning anything on merit. I do have an issue with clubs buying success, be it owners writing off massive shortfalls, 156% wage bills on turnovers or brown envelope bungs, none of which end well.
JR – Glad to see you are still alive – enjoy next season. Perhaps you can find a Bolton or Lincoln fan to wager who finishes the higher in L1.
Hate to break it to you but football wasn’t invented in 1992 or 2013. It has been played all over the world for over 100 years and a lot of clubs have won a lot of trophies over that time. So if you are referring to honours, perhaps you should stipulate as to what period you are including so the likes of Wolves, WBA, Palace, Brighton, Birmingham, Coventry, Spurs, Everton, Aston Villa, Sheffield United and Wednesday, Forest, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Leeds are all made aware that Wigan are bigger than them cos they won one FA Cup in the last 10 years. Interesting to also see that Wigan are also the most relegated club*.
*It would have been Sunderland, but as I only included the last 10 years, only 2 of the 11 count!
14-12 to Wigan.
They just cannot handle the fact we have been more successful than they have
Care to elaborate – I’ve Just checked their honours board and Bolton have won the FA Cup four times.
Lets also see if the points are deducted from the 22/23 season or the 23/24 season.
What did you think of the rumour doing the rounds in 2020 that DW was the 3rd member of the local consortium that Ian Lenagan was trying to bring in for sporting Wigan (the other one being Danson), but he declined to be part of it.
Danson owns a large % of the holding company that owns Wigan Warriors.
You’ve been bought by t’rugby. Stop deluding yourself.
Great news for everyone – except of course Bullitt and Bickymon who now face a choice between eating humble pie and crawling back to their seats in the stadium now owned by a warriors co-owner, or fucking off for good.
You need to leave your ego at the front door fella. As CW has said, its gone way beyond the point where who owns a stadium is the most important thing.
If Danson is the successful bidder, it will help bring the clubs under one umbrella, and for those on both sides who cant accept that – fuck off and do something else with your lives.
