The French are quietly going about their business and are my tip to do well.
He hasn’t actually done anything that breaks any of the rules we moderate the board by so hasn’t done anything to warrant a ban or exclusion.A bit rich about shit stirring Egg when I see one of you mods has allowed the homophobe back on here. I wonder how long it will be before his shit stirring will start.
Enjoy your summer folks..
I’m just offering Donny a suggestion to help him get a ST. He’s on here all the time complaining about the high match-day prices (which will probably be higher this coming year) and has said before he’s not a ST holder.
If he’s so cock-sure that Wigan & Sunderland will be playing in the same league in 2019/20 as they will be in 2018/19, then there’s money to be earned at the expense of the bookies.
Now, do you want to discuss seat colours at the SOL or is this going to be another bitch-fest….
High. Fancy wagering your giro on it? You may be able to finally buy a Season Ticket for your Championship Club if it comes true.
It happened quickly because Ellis Short settled all debts and sold the club for £0. No haggling involved with either side trying to squeeze another million out of the other. No ongoing clauses regarding stadium usage and penalties for not maintaining it in accordance with the planning consent or public licences issued by the council.
It also went through quickly because the buyer (or new owner) was a UK citizen with business ties in the UK who had previously owned a UK football club, so he wasn’t some unknown quantity or the front man of an unknown consortium from overseas.
That said, it must be slightly unsettling for Cook not knowing who will be funding any player acquisitions, nor knowing how much is available to help keep Wigan up.
Sorry, mutty, and far be it from me to post a link to this rag, but it is allegedly the world’s largest online newspaper, and this is its current second top headlineThat looks like major world interest to me
Wow! Just goes to show how popular Rugby League is in Wigan and how well known the Tomkins brothers are. I’m pretty sure that had that been two Salford players in a bar in Manchester, or two Warrington players out in Cheshire, or even two Leeds players out in Leeds, then it wouldn’t make the nationals.
Hated, Adored, but never ignored.
Gents,
You seem to think that I am condoning their behaviour. May I point you in the direction of my first paragraph underneath the video. However, as much as you would love it to be so, this incident will never become as big nationally as the two racism incidents. This is because of the global appeal of football. “3rd division loanee footballer in racist twitter attack by fan” will still make more newspaper headlines outside Wigan than “rugby league brothers in drunken tirade to barmaid.”
Now, have your entertainment over it.
How ironic considering Mutty’s faux outrage at Latics supposedly sweeping something under the carpet. If you are referring to the racist abuse of Ivan Toney and whether the club had found and banned the offender, I did as you suggested and asked the club. Guess what – no reply. I’ll keep trying and let you know if you can sit in a racist-free stadium next season.
Bickymon – I take it from your comment that you were actually born in the town of Wigan and just happened to move to the suburb of Abram that is Bickershaw?
One thing is for sure though after this video – there wont be a Tomkins statue being put up in Wigan anytime soon – even if Sam & Joel paid for it themselves!
Yep. Disgusting, embarrassing and I hope that neither of them wear the shirt again. I expect them both to be suspended on Monday, pending a club investigation, and then sacked. As Sam is leaving at the end of the season, then it saves the club a few quid on his marquee salary (that he doesn’t deserve). Joel has been a complete flop since returning from Union and his dismissal will be no great loss. They are both nowhere near the standard they were before the $$ and ££ of Aus and RU was waved under their noses.
It is an embarrassment to the club and the town. Its right up there with the “Racist Chairman” incident. Clearly, as it is a minority sport played by a few pit villages along the M62, then it wont get as much publicity as DW did for his ill-advised comments, but that doesn’t make it any more embarrassing to the Wiganers.
and of course we know it to be true of Sunderland’s crowds, a small minority of whom amply demonstrated their affection for Darren Bents mother. One individual, who was quickly charged, convicted a couple of months after the incident and received a three year football ban.
No sweeping it under the carpet here Zeb.
You’re welcome. We’ve already seen the furore with Vincent Tan when he said “This is a racist chairman hiring a racist manager,” he said. “I hope that stops at two racists in Wigan, not snowballing to 2,000 or 20,000 racists in Wigan.”
Racism has no place in football, or society.
Is that the current South Korean international Ki Sung-yueng that has left Swansea because his contract has expired?
He’ll be snapped up by a top flight European team once his involvement in the World Cup is over.
I’m pretty sure if it was a genuine enquiry and not an attempt at shit stirring you’d have gone direct to the club.I’ve asked them – I’ll let you know what their reply is.
I’m sure you don’t want a nasty racist sat amongst you, and I’m sure you wouldn’t want it swept under the carpet either.
Ask the club.Good idea – I will. It would be awful if this racist was still attending games at the DW after the club said at the very least, they would receive a life ban from the stadium.
Did the club ever catch the individual who had allegedly racially abused him on twitter?
