So by bull**** law, I could legitimately claim that Latics took no fans to Sheff Wed based on the away end being empty 3 hours before kick-off.
Otter – I know we rarely agree, but today “I concur”!
Wrong (yet again), my evenly shoulder-chipped bullshitter….

One positive note about attending the game is you will not have that deluded clown anywhere near you GL. Since joining last December, all he’s done is post negativity, bile, bitterness and attack anyone who doesn’t share his views (just like he did on the WEP). I can understand his dislike for me, as I’ve often called him out on the WEP, and proved many of his claims to be utter crap, but why he felt the need to start attacking you and others on here is beyond me.
At least you’ll know next Tuesday that you’ll not be within 200 miles of smelling the foul stench of the 30 year old chips that have stagnated on his shoulders.
Enjoy Norwich – I lived there on and off for almost 10 years.
As for myself have decided that given the choice between watching Latics v Fulham yet again, or my very local club in the biggest game in their history, then it’s got to be Brocstedes for me.As a Season Ticket Holder, you’ll be counted in the “official” attendance for the Fulham game, so you can legitimately claim to be in two places at once! ;)
Cracking listen!
Its a shame he isn’t around now to put some of these agents and very overpaid but very average footballers in their place. Can you imagine what he’d say to the likes of Raheem Stirling?
Perhaps. But they still outnumbered the stewards, unlike here:
What is our allocation for this one, it’ll be interesting to see how many we take at them prices. The visitor’s end holds 6658 – 4164 in the top tier and 2294 in the lower. If you sell out of those ;) , then there’s 1337 available in the “overspill” of the corner.
I’ve not been there since the promotion season under Roy Keane, when the overspill area was used.
Not possible that Eggy, Dave Whelan stumped up over 30k.Looks well when the towns football club have to keep pulling the rugby club out of the shit!
Yet the chubbies find money to sign crocks.
Wane out!
I challenge you to find an entry in the WAFC balance sheet for a £30K donation for the statue.
Keep going with your “facts” fellas. Pretty soon, one of you may end up like these men..
Slightly off topic, Good luck to Big Sam today on his first match as England managerHear Hear. It will be interesting to see how he deals with not being able to shop at Harrods instead of Tescos (was it Steve Bruce who once said that?) for players to strengthen his squad. In fact, he cant shop at all!
Possibly, but there were a whole load of football league fixtures.
Having said that, there were prem games on 20 August when they got 13500 for the visit of Fleetwood. Perhaps their crowd that day and yesterday was swelled by 5000 Wiganers who didn’t go to Nottingham and who had nothing better to do yesterday?
Or maybe, they just have 13,000 loyal supporters?
As I said – proper loyal fans them Bowton lot, like the Pompey lot. They stick with their club when times are tough.
Minnows or not, for a 3rd division club surrounded by over a dozen other football league clubs within a 25 mile radius, to attract 13,500 for a home game with Southend is pretty impressive.
Even more impressive, when you see that their cheapest adult ST was £300 and £26 for a casual supporter to attend yesterday’s fixture.
Proper loyal fans there.
If I remember correctly, it was in the constitution that all funds would come from individual donations, which explains why it took a long time.
I take my hat off to such a principled organisation who could have taken an easy route to raising the cash, but chose to make it a challenge. A principled organisation raising money in a principled way for a true statesman of Wigan. A true success story.
And of course, a huge amount of thanks should also go to the Billy Boston Statue Trust, who have raised this money entirely through private individual donations and fund raising, rather than tapping companies for a large (tax deductible) donation.
The transfer window is an international one, and has to take into consideration all leagues across all nations, which is why dates are set in stone.
Not strictly true. Some smaller footballing nations have a longer window.[/quote]
I thought that they’d all been brought into line now.
I do remember Asamoah Gyan being poached by some rich Qatari club a couple of days after the window had shut in the rest of the world, leaving Sunderland in the lurch.
Anyway, hasn’t the “Emergency”* loan window re-opened for the lesser mortals of the footballing pyramid? ;)
* – Not really an emergency, but it would be harsh to class it as “couldn’t manage to sort a squad out in the three months preceding 31 Aug”
