Interesting times at Villa it would seem. They’ve just suspended their Chief Exec at the same time as they haven’t paid a tax bill on time. This, apparently, ‘is in no way connected to Wyness (the Chief Executive)’ suspension. Ok…….

According to the BBC ‘The club’s owner Dr Tony Xia has previously stated that Villa face “severe” challenges under financial fair play rules.’

This news is on the same day that UEFA announced that the prize money available in the European competitions has gone up to almost £3bn.

The rich seem to get richer whilst everyone else, including those who once were considered rich, seem to get poorer.

The official England Cricket store want £30.95 ($55) to send a shirt to Australia.

The official England Cricket store is run by Sports Direct, owned by Mike Ashley, owner of Newcastle United.

Other sports retailers in the UK either charge nowt for shipping or nowhere near the rip off amount being charged by the ECB via Sports Direct.

I suppose he’s got to get the debt down somehow so why not try and fleece the fans because let’s face it, according to Forbes he’s only worth 1.5 billion.

          Hi all,

I echo the above comments. I’ve lived over here in Oz for the last 11 years and probably because I’m nearing 50, probably because I can see retirement on the horizon and probably because I’m feeling a bit homesick at the moment but I genuinely miss the friendship, camaraderie and the feeling of togetherness (even when we fall out) that our club provides. I’ve been the same, I’ve watched the videos and I’ve felt myself filling up, heck, I’ve done even more, I’ve had wet eyes !!!

We all support something special in Wigan Athletic, it’s more than a football club, it’s a living, breathing, existing family and in the true tradition of families we are dysfunctional, odd and often fighting among ourselves. But we are still a family and I like to think that I’m still a member of that family even though I’m 12000 miles away.

I hope the new owners understand us because we are unique, we are family.

All the best lads and lasses,

          Ian.

I’ll be keeping my eye on things, friendly wise. I watch most games on ifollow but after 11 years over here I’m getting a bit homesick. I might actually wait until the new season though when I can be the ultimate bandwagon jumper ;-)

            All the best everyone !!!

              Good point.

Perth Glory (football) nearest away match is in Adelaide which is 2700km away, every other sport is a similar story with the exception of when the Fremantle Dockers play the West Coast Eagles (AFL) as they are both in the same town, Perth.

I wish they’d put on free transport for when Perth Glory play Wellington Phoenix. Just a wee 5300kms away in New Zealand….!!!!

The quality of the A League is shithouse, which is probably why Warren Joyce is coaching over here ;-)

Over here in Perth if you buy any sporting ticket, Football, AFL, Cricket, Basketball, Rugby, whatever, your ticket covers public transport to and from the venue (which is just as well seeing as the new Optus Stadium which holds 60000 has about 3 parking spaces).

All sporting clubs are private entities in their own right but the public transport system is state run.

                It works a treat.

I live so many thousand of miles away from my beloved club and it depresses me to read all this. I’m guilty as the next person as I’ve run on the pitch to collect Noel Wards et all tie ups but the nasty, downright oppressive behaviour I witnessed from our’supporters’that night shows the stupidity of those that night. Come on fellas,in this day and age, we’re better than that.

This bandwagon jumper came over from Australia for the Northampton game in September last year and it was cancelled due to international call ups at the last minute.

I’ve just lost a $200 deposit on a $1300 flight back to the UK due to our defeat yesterday.

Not all ‘bandwagon jumpers’ are equal.

I’m a lifelong Latics mon (ex WN5) who has lived in Western Australia for the last 10yrs.

I’ve got my Ashes tickets (I’m a WACA member but I like to sit with the Barmies) so I’ll be there complete with flag !!!

Be nice to meet up for a beer with any fellow Latics guys and gals in Perth, and I get 10% discount on all booze at The Royal, The Perth Barmies HQ…….
