Fantastic, history! who says we have no history
we are making our history now.
Absolutely brilliant.
It isn’t winning ugly it is just being organised and being able to deal with efficiently with teams in this division and get results rather than trying to entertain all he time.Real football supporters go to games to watch their team get results and to be honest I enjoy watching different styles of play and if it gets results then so be it.
The big tests are to come and I reckon we will need about 73 points plus to get into the play offs so there is very little slack for any slip ups but I like the way he sets up the team now and I think we will get the points we need although the pile up of fixtures concerns me somewhat.
I have a feeling though that if we get into the play offs we will have a brilliant chance of achieving promotion back to the premier league given our mangers ability with tactics and I have a sneaky feeling we could do it.Me too!!!!
Was it a good game last night. I was in work so only got the score on teletext. Judging by some of the comments i gather it was a hard graft of a match.
If he dumps us like Martinez did after getting us relegated, then yes I will be on his case.
I share the same sentiments as you on that one JR. As i said previously i would have had no problem with martinez had he kept us up then decided to leave. But i do have a problem with how he relegated us & no matter how you look at it, he was the manager so he takes the blame, likewise he takes the credit for the greatest day in our history last may.
i too would be on roslers case if he relegated us then jumped ship.
if martinez loved us as much as he claims/claimed he would have stayed this season & try to get us back up at the first attempt.Martinez,r u watching martinez!!!!
In the immediate aftermath of one of our greatest ever victories, your first thought is to have a pop at an ex-manager who has already won the FA Cup?
What a very strange attitude to take. Not like you, to be fair. Had you had a drink? ;)[/quote]
I agree griff, he did win us the FA cup & in fairness would have kept us up had he not had bad luck with injuries to key players at various stages last season. However, following relegation he jumped ship at the first chance & for that i cant forgive. Had we have stayed up & he turned round & said “ive taken this club as far as i can its now time for a new challenge” that would not have been a problem in my eyes & i would have wished him well. Likewise if he stayed this season but failed in his attempt to get us promoted, just saying for arguments sake, i would have wished him well. At least jewell did say he would have stayed an extra season had we have gone down that day against sheffield utd.
sorry but i cant forgive him for the way he left & that is why i am thrilled to bits that my team went further than his.Sorry sammy, im not the guy who your referring to as,
a) i wasnt at the etihad, cos
b) i watched the game on the telly.I cant see us going straight up TBH. I agree with barnsley, it would take a hell of a lot now to get automatically promoted. Playoffs methinks, or failing that, a serious push for automatic promotion next season.
To quote that great chairperson’s comment from a few seasons back;
“Where are you”
“Lets be having you”Given that we are playing arsenal, i have a sneaky feeling that itv will get our game as its the bigger team plus the chance of biggest cup upset so therefore our game might be on sunday. Hull v sheff utd is the equivalent of ourselves v millwall last season & i think bt sport will get that one.
Im going to give it to boyce. Absolute rock at the back. In my eyes one of the best & most unsung heroes ever to wear a latics shirt.
Oh & i forgot:
2001 play off final v gillingham
Ok lostock i’ll try my best for you. Are you including the old wembley as well??
1973 FA Trophy final v scarborough (even though i was only 1 at the time)
1985 freight rover v brentford
1988 mercantile credit tournament
1999 auto windscreens v millwall
2013 FA cup semi final v millwall
2013 FA cup final v man city
2013 community shield v man utd
2014 FA cup semi final v arsenal
Last year skinted me after the semi & final. If that happens again plus the play off final – feck me. It would be typical wigan to do that though.
I wasnt too keen at first when i saw who was the ref, but agreed, he did ref it well & yes, the coverage from BT was excellent.
