What did we do to ruffle the feathers of the EFL in the first place?

in reply to: Jordan Jones #200826

Jones would have been a regular starter had it not been for the signing of McClean. Similar to Humphrys, Jones can hopefully get a chance to show us what he can (or can’t) do.

Sze isn’t an out & out or lone striker. Playing alongside a striker or behind I believe is his correct position.

I thought Pearce had a very good game yesterday as did quite a few others in all honesty. Hughes is just immense & after two games this season, he’ll be POTS come May. I’m calling it now.

First half we were a big static & gave away a silly free kick. Once the tempo went up in the 2nd half we looked very good to watch. Credit to Maloney for the subs he made & the timing of them.

Agree with all of the above. It’s the same on another forum too. Do the decent thing Mutty, aka Pie Eater & leave the WAFC stuff to WAFC fans.

Same here! Postman came & went with only a Farmfoods advertisement through the letterbox.

in reply to: Charlie Wyke #200626

In a report he says he did (understandably) struggle for fitness last season – especially after the setback he endured.

Hopefully, with a pre season behind him, a fully fit Charlie Wyke will score goals with the right kind of service – a la, the cross from Pearce.

If he does want to come back & it is a big IF, he’d have to take one massive pay cut. My thinking is that all the young, hungry players we have in defence, plus a young GK, does need that “experience” at the back.

I too see him as a bit part player. He would be good to bring on in the latter stages to see off games.

in reply to: Steven Caulker to Return #200623

I’d welcome him back. We do need that “old head” in defence.

I don’t often agree with you Mutty. But I am with you on this one.

in reply to: New transfers #200219

I can see McManaman only being used as a last 20 – 30 minutes sub in all honesty.

By that do you mean the Championship?

One swallow and all that but our first signing looks like a game changer.

    Fingers crossed for more.

I mean in the sh1t no paddle. Spending large amounts of money on older players wages then getting promotion only to find their not up for it doesn’t suit us, it’s not our DNA.
I remember right back to the day were we would buy a bargain, nurture then sell on for a tidy profit but not only that they would give us a season or two, the list is endless.

That’s the bit we’ve lost and probably why we’ve constantly been in the sh1t with the past 2 owners, that ability to bargain hunt then bring them through the ranks. Jesus Christ almighty there’s something sadly wrong at a club like us with our geographical location that we can’t pick up some talented released lads from surrounding clubs.
Fcuk to 30+ year old players who offer nothing on £10k+ so hats off to Maloney using his Celtic knowledge picking up Morrison.

Morrison was listed in 2020 in the top 60 most promising young players in the UK and for him to be on the bench for Bayern in a game ? Jesus at 20 years of age that takes some serious doing.

    Lets hope he’s not a bench warmer[/quote]

I think that is where Maloney differs to Richardson. I can see a lot more younger players being signed. That being said, I do hope we manage to get Kelly back. He showed in 35 or so minutes in his one cameo appearance last season that he could prove to be a valuable asset for this season.
