Im waiting until deadline on july 21st, or if finances allow, i will renew the day before. Im in the process of saving up for both mine & my sons.
Personally as few as possible but who knows. Obvious ones that will leave are the long term loaned out players from last season. Hopefully we won’t be selling the likes of Grigg, Burn, Powell etc. I hope we have a small squad fighting to get a game. Do we really need to bring any players in? All have been brought in to play the type of game Cook plays so no need for them to adapt. Two strikers is ample as only one will be playing and providing none are injured. As little disruption as possible should see us ok. Paul as inherited a squad that should fly up the league. They just need managing.
All that said, this is Latics so it will be more likely ten out and ten in and a practice ground for half a dozen loanees whose heart and minds lie elsewhere.Hope we don’t see the usual amount of ins & outs Donny. Stability would be nice, for once in a long time!
We’ll see jimmy. David sharpe stated that he wants stability amongst the players this season. He admits one or two might go, but he wants the main bulk of players to remain.
Very sad & shocking news.
I might be wrong donny, but i’m sure barlow & liddel played wide of howarth.
Well I’m really happy with the appointment and better still excited after what’s been said over the last few days. From Cookie himself to Sharpey they are making the right noises and pre season cannot come quick enough for a change. Keep what we have and that trophy will be back in our cabinet for a 3rd time.Providing we can keep around 95% of the current team & maybe add 3 – 4 decent signings. No loan players & not too many ins & outs.
Powell can also stand in up front.
That’s if he is still here next season. Do hope so!!
Two strikers is ample as only one will be playing and providing none are injured.Don’t forget we have mandron as well.
Cookie was after Remie Streete while at Pompey so rumour is we will be in for him.Pardon my ignorance, but who’s he??
Never heard of him, non league here we comeIs this a wind up tez??
Just been reading one of cook’s interviews. He likes to play possession football, but one that accompanies a fast attacking approach.
I’m sticking my neck out here. I think we’ll enjoy the football next season & be pleasantly surprised.
I actually think he will be given the time to turn things around.
As for a borefest. Pompey were amongst the top in the goals chart last season. Hopefully we have now found someone who can get the best out of & has the perfect knowledge of the lone striker system. If played correctly, this formation produces goals just as much as any other. formation.
I also like how he has been allowed to bring in his own staff.
Predicting good things next season, i am!!!
Cook appears to prefer the lone striker & it seems to be working for him so far.
Good luck paul & welcome back.
Only minus for me is that he favours the lone striker so let’s hope it’s a lone striker who gets support and it’s not a passing for the sake of passing and tippy tappy game.To be fair donny, his lone striker policy has done well for him so far.
Let’s hope he does well for us.fingers crossed.Sure as hell hope so & its not a case of the cookie crumbles should he fail.
