A guy whos windows I clean runs a sports memorabilia company and told me that he can get me any Wigan player signature on whatever I wanted ( Within reason ! ) I politely declined as I don’t care much for stuff like that but if any of you lot out there would like something signing be sure to inbox me and I will see what I can do for ya !
A blank cheque ?
And here’s me thinking that I wrote ” Within reason ” !
To be fair I think it your disclaimer fended off more outlandish comments than that…
if its an odd number the next ranked team in pl who are not in Europe get a bye to the third. so I assume the next buy into the 2nd round gets passed to the the highest ranking relegated team. as we are athe one with the bye into the third it goes to reading below us.
I think it’s time to bury the hatchet with Coyle. The decision is made and we need to judge him on his own merits. None of which any of us have a clue about yet if we are honest. He got an average Burnley up, Did well in Scotland, And took a poison chalice at Bolton who have had crippling debts for a good few years that were kept out of the public domain. This job Coyle has taken is by far and away the best opportunity he has had at any club to prove what he can do. He has the players and in this division he will have the funds.
Bury the hatchet?
I don’t know any sane poster who possesses one. I suppose Dave Whelan could have tried to hijack the Chelsea/Jose Mourinho deal to appease the darkside – tight git. ;)
If anyone (preferably sane) on here does have a hatchet I would appreciate if they would lend it me.
I tried to uproot a plant in the front garden and snapped my spade.
I suspect it requires something with a bit more bite to finish the job.
Due to the odd number someone got a bye to third and reading must go in at 2nd round.
From Wikipedia.
Since 1996–97, teams involved in European competition during the season have received a bye to the third round; the remaining Premier League teams enter at the second round, and the remaining Football League teams enter at the first round.[6] If the number of byes causes an odd number of teams to enter a round, another team may be given a bye.
Didnt know we get a bye into the next round due to being in Europe – Happy days!
Cant say I am fussed about this Micky Mouse cup anyway.
FA Cup double on the horizon I tell ye.
No we got a bye because we finished higher up in the league than QPR. Reading have also got a bye as they also finished above QPR.
Sorry guys but nowt to do with the Europa Cup.
?!?! Non.
Most pl teams go in at second round.
Started well against Nigeria!!!
Shame bout the goal …
Coyle……..Roberto is a very good manager, but i have come up against him 8 times as a manager and lost once,i am confident in my own abbillityIts a fair point.
Usual practice for a Martinez signing to sit out of the team for 6 months before they play.
Perhaps he is ready now and he has seen something we have not?
Its a trait the likes of Mccarthy, Mcmanaman and Maloney have all benefited from.
Sorry but I am still not buying into it, unemployed managers are seen at football matches all the time!
Phil Brown was pestering Ali before the match at Macclesfield but he didn’t take over from King.
Maybe if Roy Keane gets a job at our ticket office I may come around to your way of thinking.
And whats with all this friendship stuff from you and salford?Lets just use the analogy of opposite sides playing football in ‘no mans land’ on christmas day during WW1
By August we can retreat to our own trenches ready for the battle ahead.
Leaving the DW Stadium on the 8th May 2013; the day after we got rolled over by Swansea. That adds a little bit of intrigue into my belief that DW was “happy” to let RM go.
Despite all the posturing and denials by Whelan and Kendrick, Martinez was approached in the week following the FA Cup semi-final and interviewed and agreed in principle before the cup final.
It was agreed by by all parties that no announcement was made until after the season ended.
Sorry to taint our newly founded friendship lmb but I call bullsh*t.
If you have some evidence to back up your claim though I am all ears.
Teams playing in Europe get a bye into the Third Round.Bradford City take the competition seriously; so do Swansea.
Bless their cotton socks :)
We obviously have to set the bar a little higher being Champions of England.
I read that before.
He is deffo saying all the right things at the moment.
No talk of keeping Kone though… Has his relegation release clause possibly already been met? or am I reading into it too much?
I am used to having to second guess all Martinez quotes for the past few years :cheer:
If the rumours of interest are right I think tis fair to say McCarthy is on his way in one direction or another. If we can keep hold of Maloney I will be very pleased! Kone too and I will be extatic ! and McCarthy as well I will be walking on sunshine.
To be fair out of Maloney, Kone and Mccarthy I am least worried about losing the latter as:
1.) It will bring good money for new recruitments.
2.) We have CM’s in abundance with Gomez, McCarthur, Watson, Espinoza and Fyvie.
3.) While I think he has been a cracking player for us I personally think you wont see the best of him until he is in a decent team. He had to much work to do for us and I think he has more of Lampards qualities to pop up in and around the box than we have seen.
4.) I dont think McCarthur got half the credit he deserved last season as the media spotlight was shining on McCarthy. I have a feeling McCarthur will be the main man under Coyle next year. A few times last season when he came off the bench he seemed to completely change the direction of the game! A good early shout for player of the season.Coyle’s first press conference is today so hopefully he can give us a little bit of information on his plans going forward.
If truth be told I was dissapointed with his appointment but ever since he has taken the job what little has been said I have liked and I genuinely hope he can do the business for us.
Alternatively he is on a 1 year contract and we can get shut rapido ;)
I’d be happy with £10M and J Defoe from Spurs for McCarthy???
Defoe to a Championship team? Doubt it.
Not on championship wages.
QPR on the other hand….
