Come on boys and girls Bobby did is best to pull a good team together under financial constraints that no other premier league team had. OK he got us relegated but leaves us with a legacy that includes;
1) We have won a major trophy.
2) We have shown on many occasions that we can beat all the top four teams.
3) The good people of Wigan will support their football team if they play the right way, even though they are in a relegation fight.
Thanks for the memories bobby, if you do go to Everton though I hope you get relegated! B)
if you look at it on the whole we won 38 Prem games out of a possible 152 matches. So in theory I’ve watched us not win for 3 seasons…
that make sense ??.
You do know which team you support, don’t you? It’s not Bayern Munich, we are expected to lose more than we win.
I support Bayern Munich ! ;)
Quite. You certainly don’t support Wigan Athletic.
Well Wigan are my English team and seeing as I buy a season ticket every season ( Last 10 years ) I think that entitles me to be considered a supporter ! It’s been a multi trophy season for me ! :P
What entitles you to be considered a supporter of Bayern then?
i heard you are streight ;)
And for those of us that don`t understand feral ??
Whats up with you has Dave from Skem vanished
I hope he is alright…
After seeing what he did to his head via a fence when we lost then we can only imagine what he did when we got relegated
Of course if Rene Meulensteen gets the job, then DW won’t have to buy another tracksuit top – the initials RM will be fine. Savings :)Whelan is probably reading this right now thinking you know what the lad from Garswood has a point :cheer:
Question……..What league will Wigan Athletic be playing in next season ? Ans …Championship……Played losing football that was pleasing to watch. Yes Sillyford your man Roberto REALLY has taken us down and now he’s grabbed the parachute because “He doesn’t feel equipped to take Wigan back into the premier league “……….couldn’t have put it better myself.Sillyford how clever
Still won an FA CUP along the way something you cant take away from his time here (I am sure you will try).
I am not bitter about being relegated and as Griff points out its been half expected for a long time.
In fact considering you have been saying all season that he will take us down you would think you were quite prepared for it and not come across so offended by the situation.
Anyway I am prepared to let all this crap go now as I want to be able to look forward to the new regime with an open mind.
You never know this time next year I could be the darksider and you could be defending someones work.
Anyway I am sure we will find something to argue about either way ;)
The lightside have finally had the eyeshields surgically removed and lo and behold what do they see..????….Answer.. The Championship !!..Personally I think a move to Everton is the ideal move and not as Whelan quoted a much bigger club.Get real Dave .How does his cv qualify him for a really big club post ? I would have liked him to stay and prove Whelans hype by getting us back in the prem but another poor league season and jobs like Everton would be vanishing in the distance.I think Robbie knows this so good luck to him (I think he’ll need it ) and thanks for fantastic end to his time here. The first part of your post is stupid.
We could of used this thread to put our differences aside and unite as one under whoever the new manager is but I guess whoever is appointed people like you will still be morons :P
Dont go counting your chickens yet though.
We could get any old muppet in charge next season and you could be begging for Roberto back.
Hopefully we continue the good work that has already been put in place so we can continue to move forward off the field while sorting out the step backwards on the field.
I would sign a couple of good CB’s and a decent Right Wing Back.
I would continue with the same 3-4-3 formation that did us well before we didnt have enough CB’s to play it.
Yes pretty passing football.
I think in the glare of the media it can sometimes be forgotten that this is a fella walking towards no. 80’s door…
If it was your grandad sat at the christmas table you would hear what he says but think I know what he means if that makes sense.
Lets not over analyse everything he says ;)
I didnt cut the quote, I could not remember who he used as the comparison, I actually thought it was Aldi.I have never mentioned once where Bruce finished in the league, let alone “harp” on about it, my arguements on here after he left and when martinez was appointed was the way bruce was demonised.
Bruce was not on the rocks at Birmingham, didn’t Whelan also pay Birmingham compensation for him.
Another difference between the two I forgot to mention was that it was the second time he had left us with a bad taste in our mouths so the ugly git was already on thin ice.
He was on the rocks. I cant remember the ins and outs of it all but the new owner came in made it public they didnt want him but didnt seem to have the money to pay up his contract so it all became a bit embarassing…
In all honesty I may have made some of the above up in my head as I have been known to do but I am sure it was something along those lines and he was happy as larry to get the job.
You see the question between the two for me is what type of manager you want.
I think of Bruce as a Redknapp type who openly admits that he thinks football games are won by having better players (makes you think what is the point in having him there if that is the case) Obviously there is some truth in that statement but someone with half the money can do twice the job of those two morons given the correct environment.
I would like to see us continue with our policy of investing in youth and progressing as a club off the field as spending money beyond our means was the metaphorical equivelent of blowing up a balloon until it pops.
Okay so we might have to do away with the balloon but we will come back with an extra strength rubber johnny so in the future we can blow alot more without worrying about our bubble bursting.
Took us down and jumped ship. Tosser for me, should of tried to get us back up.
You should of learned how to speak English. Only one tosser here…
Who would that be?????? If i think he’s a tosser then he’s a TOSSER. My opinion, 15th,15th and 16th under him. Oh and now 18th. Good record he has.
In my opinion you’re an illiterate tosser, ergo you’re an illiterate tosser. Good of you to show up anyway, hope you’re not planing on staying long though
What a pr!ck you are, yes i’m staying on.
Probably best to re-sign up and start again then.
Maybe try picking a username that is not drug related this time?
Bruce did not leave us after we had been relegated, he left to go to a club that has 10k more fans a week than Everton, a team that has a big modern stadium a team that had twice as much spending power as Everton have. For christs sake everton can’t even afford a new ground, they play in a shitole, by their own admission they have restricted spending power, how can that be a career move – on top of that the fans don’t even want him.
Lastly the “badmouthing” talk about ammounted to Bruce sayin tongue in cheek “he felt he could now shop at harrods” given the money he did spend what was wrong with that statement.
Which ever way you put it martinez has shown he is not up for the fight of taking us back up just like he didn’t have the stomach for the Liverpool job which was twice the job the everton one is.
You say The everton job is a “real career progression” I suggest its a poor option from a serial bottler.
For someone who harps on about Bruce’s league finish you seem pretty dismissive of the fact that Everton have finished higher than Sunderland for the best part of a decade…
Everton is a better job than Sunderland but you can pap on until you are blue in the face you wont convince me otherwise.
Dont cut the quote either it was roughly “I can now shop at harrods instead of tescos” – That is disrespectful in my book expecially towards a club who gave him a much needed lifeline as he was on the rocks at Birmingham.
Is no more,R.I.P ;)
Just before its demise, can the lightside members explain to me what the difference is between Martinez leaving now to further is career and bruce leaving to further his.
And will Martinez get the vitriolic reaction that bruce got and if not WHY?
1.) Martinez hasnt left after a year and a half.
2.) He wont badmouth the club after he leaves.
3.) Wigan to Sunderland or Wigan to Everton? I know which I consider real career progression.
And no he wont as he won the FA cup forever installing him as a true Latics Legend.
Oh yeah I forgot Bruce finished higher up the table once… What an acheivement.
According to Skysports Roberto is due to sit down with Whelan at 1pm so looks like we wont know until later in the day.
It would appear that the Everton fans are split as to whether they think RM is any good or not !http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/12-13/rumour-mill/item.asp?submissionID=24734
If I was an Evertonian I would be praying to sign Martinez considering some of the other names that have been touted for the job…
hope he stays
if he leaves there will only be whelan and caldwell left at the club players and coaching staff will leave mostly where bob goes
so hope he stays just to try to hold what will be left at the club together or try tooPlayers do have things called contracts. They can’t just leave en masse.
From what I remember so has Martinez but he seems to be dictating what his next job is going to be.
Amazing seeing how many goals his team has shipped on his watch !
He cant help if people show interest in him but I dont think he is dictating anything at all.
All we know is Roberto and Whelan have sat down to discuss what the plan should be going forward in the interests of the club.
We also know that Roberto has indicated he does want to stay providing Whelan can provide a few things he feels are essential for the club to move forward on and off the field.
Due to increase by £104.00
