Just moving away from the gags for a moment, has anyone noticed that you cant get a thin sliced loaf any more ? Its either medium or toastie ( Thick ) !
.. and actually have you compared the thickness of medium and thick? They’re the same
Some brands are but some are definitely different ie Warburtons !
Can second that Medium (blue) and Thick (orange) definatly have a noticable difference in thickness..
The green extra thick one is belting for a BLT on toast although I cant remember seeing it about for a while…
I would have no doubt that if Owen was supplied with the amount of chances we were creating at the back end of last season he would put a decent amount in the back of the net.
But having just released one expensive crock I dont think we can afford to take on another one.
Is he even fit at the moment?
These jokes are getting a bit stale….
Karl Henry :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Cheers Runcorn that one cheered me right up.
4-3-3 my *rse (e.g. deployment of D Jones on LHS)Work in progress…2.5 years ??? The back three to a man have all been at the club for a wee while, have they not ?
How long has it taken Rodgers, Swansea, to get his philosophy across, outplaying the likes of City, Arsenal etc. along the way ? Minimal spend since promotion.
Credit on account of Latics recent form is given (see point 5)
League position, points tally under Bruce prior to departure (11th, 45 pts.) Absolute free-fall ??? Poor end to season, yes. So Cattermole and Bramble went (Sunderland) and ??
The reason why we’re now in a much strong position off the field than in recent years(financially) is very much down to D Whelan; conversion of £40M debt to share capital. Take a look at our not so noisy neighbours, Wanderers, £110M in DEBT and consigned to the Championship. Now that’s you may call ABSOLUTE FREE FALL !!
“4-3-3 my *rse (e.g. deployment of D Jones on LHS)”
 Fook me with a point like that who I am to disagree…. what the hell Jones playing on the left side has to do with a combination of three forwards is beyond me but alas I shall humour your championship manager tactical knowledge.
4 defenders — > Figs Alcaraz Caldwell Boyce
3 Midfielders — > Jones Mccarthy Diame
3 Forwards — > Gomez Di santo Mosesturning into:
3 Defenders —> Figs Alcaraz Cladwell
2 wingbacks —> Jean Boycie
2 Midfielders —> Mac n Mac
3 Forwards —> Maloney Di Santo and MosesThere it is…. if you want to further argue the case you can go speak to Roberto who says its 3 forwards and is in a good position to do so as they are his tactics.
“How long has it taken Rodgers, Swansea, to get his philosophy across, outplaying the likes of City, Arsenal etc. along the way ? Minimal spend since promotion”
Took him no time at all because its not his philosophy they pretty much play the same system as when Martinez was in charge.
“League position, points tally under Bruce prior to departure (11th, 45 pts.) Absolute free-fall ??? Poor end to season, yes. So Cattermole and Bramble went (Sunderland) and ?? ”
If you think we would have had a good season under Bruce the next time round you are a deluded fool. Dont get me started on how much the ugly git spent in his time here that has already been covered previously in much detail.

Nice try at pretending you know what you are talking about but the £40M debt to Whelan was never being repaid so had nil effect on our finances apart from it looking alot better on the balance sheet e.g. more viable investment to potential buyers unlike Roberto’s reduction of wage bill which has had a massive impact while also creating a v.strong squad capable of competing in the premier league.
Perhaps a chance for us now to attract new fans from the local areas??
Just a thought, but there must be people who just want to watch Premiership football and at our prices who can grumble?
Why would people from Blackburn or Bolton want to watch Wigan? If Wigan had’ve been relegated & they hadn’t, would you go to watch either of those teams in the Prem? Stupid idea. :silly:
Fair point short term.
But long term (its highly likely both wont come up first time of trying) it should certainly help.
The clamour for Martinez’ services seems to be gathering pace.Cause for reflection for a moment (Bobby) :
(1) We went into ‘this season with our strongest squad’ (Martinez)
(2) 15 HOME games in we had only beaten QPR at home – disgraceful.
(3) 8 defeats on the bounce (Messers Morgan /Wolves and Fernandez /QPR would have taken the matter in their own hands (Whelan did not))
(4) When all else had failed and we appeared dead and buried, one last throw of the dice (formation change from turgid 4-5-1 to 3-4-3)
(5) The last 2-3 months have arguably shown Wigan Athletic in a light never seen beforeArguably, the cause for reciprocation of loyalty is now greater than ever. Come on Bob, push Whelan to deliver close season on improving quality of playing squad, go deliver next season and take us to a top 10 (next level) to really put yourself in the shop window. Let us prove that this was not a 3 month one-off wonder. 3 successive games won AND counting (into next season …).
Real success next season would also make us more marketable to a greater number of candidates (if we are seen to show genuine ambition).
First of all we never played a 4-5-1 it was a 4-3-3 which is blatently obvious to everyone with a set of eyeballs apart from you and Tyldsley…
Switching to a back 3 was not simply a throw of the dice but an obvious work in progress credit where credit is due ey…
“Arguably, the cause for reciprocation of loyalty is now greater than ever.”
Arguably indeed considering he left a team that was drawing applause across two nations to join a team close to his heart that were in absolute free fall after a second attempt at a sobatage mission by ye olde bent nose.
Arguably, the cause for reciprocation of loyalty is now greater than ever in that Martinez has put us in the strongest position we have been on and off the pitch in the history of club and should give him our best wishes should he wish to move on and better his career.
Roberto Martinez owes Wigan Athletic nothing.

In all fairness he did say re: Liverpool if it did come in and was not just speculation he would take a look at it…
I dont think anybody (apart from the usuals) would begrudge him going on to a bigger club if he had the guarantee of some funds and a 3 year project.
However the likes of Villa and Liverpool wont provide this.
So as said above it is all just speculation and this question is a total non-starter.
Its that idiot Babis who we needed to see with his idiotic idea of spontaneous clapping that actually put the players off and made them concede a goal !! Stick to annoying the players 3 hours before kick off in future !!
John Lennon once said “If people are going to blame Yoko for splitting up The Beatles then they should also give her credit for all the individual music that has been produced since.”
He went on to say that of course she was not to blame for splitting up the beatles in the slightest.
Quite a fitting story considering it was not Babis who had the idea but while you’re blaming him for that you may aswell credit him with the turn around in form since the meet and greets started.
Or you can just keep wearing silly hats and spreading your Gandhi love around the board….
I didn’t like the Beatles and John Lennon was a self righteous dick so your comments mean nothing whatsoever to me !
Pfft.. Proper music lad.

predictions for next season….
If we get off to a bad start, the usual suspects will start their annual tirade on chairman, manager and not forgetting the chuckle brother. B)
Its over mate ! There has been a peace treaty, sorry to disappoint you but we are united as one now !
Loving this whole Ghandi persona filly…
I think the majority of darksiders have been let off fairly easy considering some of the potent dross that was spouted.
I wonder if the usual suspects would have treated the people who stood by their manager and club when they needed them in the same manner.
Probably not.

Wedding reception exactly at rugby on Saturday. :lol:Anyway, I’m on nights now for next three, so I’ll see you all on Sunday.
Wedding receptions are usually the best place to pull.
I’ve only ever been to a handful of Salford Reds games but I can confirm that it is not a place you want to go on the pull.
