♫ When the day is dawning, on a Scousers Monday morning, how i long to be there, the bottom 3 is waiting for me there, all around the city, where i lay my hat….they say thanks to Torres, the useless spanish Maurice. is this the way to relegation? the laughing stock of all the nation, dreaming dreams of trips to Preston, days out in Scunthorpe wait for me. ♫

Anyone up for that when we play Liverpool :?:
Are you having a laugh, its got more than 2 lines in it.

in reply to: Wigan Rugby Ticket Sales #47817
Yes, yes all this talk of ticket sales is all well and good but what I’d like to know is how many lads are going? What train are they on? Where are they meeting up? Has anything been arranged with the Saints crew away from the prying eyes of the Old Bill?? And of course, what will they be wearing? Is it too early for Millie Miglia jackets? Maybe there will be a Pringle or Lyle & Scott theme given it’s also Ryder Cup week?

It would be a shame if there wasn’t any spectator violence, after all the Wigan firm have been building up to this one all season

in reply to: Cheapest Season Ticket #47816

It will take a new generation of kids to come through, which is why we need to give free tickets away to encourage them….

Am I right in thinking that away fans have to be charged the same as home fans? In which case, if we let home kids in for nowt, don’t we have to do the same with away kids?
Yes your right but there is a catch to it. You can only charge the same in the away end as the home end so for instance for the visit of Man Utd, Liverpool etc the club could make a section of seats in the Wigan end about £40 then they can charge United about £40. Basically you cant make the away price more than the home price.

Has for the article it is a bit misleading. It actually is going of the top price paid so most of these clubs could have had a shed load of season tickets the same price as ours its just the premium seats that has cost so much. Take for instance Blackburn they had a load at £249 making it a pound cheaper than us and my mate at work paid (i think) £179 the catch to this one is that it is in the away stand. For the visit of all clubs apart from City, United and Liverpool he sits in the sectioned off side next to the away fans. When they open up all the stand to away fans then he has to buy a ticket else where in the ground but does get first shout on one before they go on general sale.

Tells you how many tickets they had in each section, do the maths yourself. I bought mine from the Rugby League and on the phone the message asked you was a Saints or Wigan fan so i put the phone down and booked them on the internet instead.
Didnt want to sit with either because i dont like Saints but if Wigan start singing the anti latics song, with a few Stella’s inside me there could be murder.

in reply to: Most memorable Cup Goal #47597
Darren Patterson v Coventry in 1991 – a last minute screamer if memory serves me right.

Paul Rogers v Millwall in the Auto Windscreens Final as well – our best ever last minute winner at Wembley – till this season at least

Defo these 2, i had forgot about Roberts at Highbury i dont think i have ever celebrated a last minute consolation goal to make it 2-1 so much in my life.

if the kids bring a good offer home from school for tickets.

  …..surely they dont give tickets away

To be fair to them they have had sod all of them this season.

Seems as though Jimmy is not the only one being lied about on this thread.
Here’s a couple from further up about yours truly.

This one about the coaches I used to/still do run.
Apparently I only used to take coaches……………

mostly big matches only and more often in promotion/first year premiership days and we all know it,

total two veg.
Oxford, Northampton, Cheltenham etc etc are big matches eh.
Promotion days eh? Yes, from Div1.

And this one.

Most others (like Arky and a few of the other mudhutters) were on their way to Wembley with Wigan Rugby clad in Ellgren!

People posting who know feck all about me but pretend to.

It was actually Umbro not Ellgren he was clad in.

in reply to: saturdays attendance #47589
This has to be THE WORST THREAD ever seen on here. Possibly on ANY Latics site.

Honestly, do you really think the rugby being played about 4 hours after the rugby will be a factor in our attendance? What a load of rubbish.

The only thing it does is give lazy, half-ar*ed Wiganers half an excuse not to go to Latics. Whelan was RIGHT. Wiganers don’t deserve a Premiership club. Anybody who does not go against Wolves and cites the rugby as an excuse, clearly is NOT a Latics fan. If someone says “oh, but I watch both…and I’m going the final”. Ok. You’ve made your bed…..f*ckin stay there! Don’t come back to Latics. No excuses.

And this site? Deary me, it’s gone right down the pan. I had to look twice to see if it was toddler.

I am going to the Grand Final because i am a Wigan fan, i am one of few who like both clubs, dont watch the Rugby much these days only when my mate gives me his S/T due to him being on holiday or if the kids bring a good offer home from school for tickets.
And i will be watching Latics first in my usual seat in ES3 then its home pick the wife and my eldest lad up fill my rucksack with Stella and head of for the train.
There is no reason at all for anybody to say that they cant go to the football due to the Grand final.
Got a feeling Saturday is going to be a good day.

Also only unbeaten away team after Chelsea lost.

United? Fulham? Arsenal?

Eddie Duggan, Wigans longest serving landlord, ran that trip.
His, and the drivers, faces were a picture when some Millwall fans starting banging on the windows of the coach and a load of our mob piled off.

Remember piling of the coach well. The Millwall fan with his face painted and wig looked like a real tool. The Millwall fans were not expecting so many to get off. I was in flipflops that day due to having a skin graft on my ankle the week before. Remember wobbling up wembley way after them all.
Looks like i had best stop telling people i went on the first Arkys then.

in reply to: Giant flag #47316
Are you bringing the flag to brum on Saturday scoffy?

People who know me will know that i dont get to many away games, i try to get to about 2/3 a season. I did price this one up but it came at the wrong time. Defo going to Blackburn and trying to get to Newcastle.

Got given 3 flags tonight, anybody else got any?

in reply to: Well said that man! #47315
My first trip was to Notts. County, boxing day, the first year at the JJB (as it was).1999.
Hardly a big match, neither was Northampton on a wednesday night, or Oxford, or Cheltenham or………. or……………..
oh well fck it..can’t be arsed.

Who ran the coach to Wembley for the Millwall final in 1999 from the Brick? I always thought it was you, when people ask do i go on Arkys i always answer went on the very first one and not been on one since.

Anymore???

in reply to: Carling Cup #47238

Another decent draw and get some of the big boys against each other again and this could be our year. :D

in reply to: Giant flag #47234

Right, i (well the wife) finally finished stitching the flag and its been on the seats in ES1 for the last 2 league games. I could do with 6 of the free flags we got at home against Bolton. Any other flags would be welcome to.

At the moment it measures 11ft by 11ft, hopefully i can get it massive and pass it down the East stand just before the game.

Get those old flags out…
