Its incorrect to say that Steve Bruce bankrupted us.
Aside from the fact that the club was never bankrupt, Steve Bruce only spent the money that Dave Whelan told him that he could spend. Its not as if Whelan told him he had a transfer & wage budget of £10mill & Bruce went out, said sod it & spent £30mill instead.
Every manager we’ve ever had operates within the budgets that the club allows – its only Whelan decided 6 months before Bruce left that the business model the club had been operating wasn’t sustainable & decided to try & start making it self-sufficientI didn’t say he had bankrupted us, but if he came back now & run up the sort of losses he did when he was manager, we would be insolvent, specially now Whelan has converted his debt to equity.
You are right to say it is dependent on the chairman but the above results are comparing one manager Bruce who racked up £15m in losses in one year versus Martinez who is managing the club to break even.
Hes done better at Sunderland but racked up a whopping £28m losses there
it also stands to reason that if Martinez had £15m more to spend than Bruce his record might be better
It depends waht you want, a short term motivator who will get the club saddled with debt or someone will take a longer term view and rebuild the club from grass roots upwards whilst making it sustainable instead of being reliant on one man
Still one of the best days of the season it was even better when we had to battle our way into the bag
I opened an account up with Stanbet the other week and stuck a tenner on us to beat wolves. Got a free £10 bet and used it today 9/2 happy days.
No excuses today :P , UP THE TICS

No the Raj is not a takeaway place. It is for eating in. Trust me i love Indian food and have been to probably nearly all in the Wigan area. I have had a takeaway from there myself and it is a very half hearted attempt, However when you go in the food is the best thing in the world, The service is excellent, Beer is also excellent and ignore JamesC, It is like a palace inside. He obviously hasn’t been.
I lived next to The Raj it for 20 years. I have been. It may be decent(ish) inside but it is situated in a dump and is a dump from outside.
Where did you live, in the Coop or in that shed the car wash place use???Well its normally debated before the season so 3 games in is a bit late if you ask me. Admin can you remove this thread please, thanks

”We are working to try to finalise another couple of deals, but the priority was Albert.“He is the one we wanted the most and it’s great to get it done well before the deadline.
“I would say we definitely need one more player – that is the minimum we are looking for.
“If we could then get another, then that would be a bonus.
“But I was very impressed with the reserves at Aston Villa on Monday, and there are a couple of young players who are ready to make a bigger role than we might have expected.”

Bloody hell, I haven’t got the memory or time to argue on here. I must have seriously polluted my brain in my early twenties cause I can’t remember what somebody posted yesterday never mind months ago.
Can we all not just be luved up, pleeeaaase.
And what it’s worth give Piscu time and I think he will turn into one of our best defenders. I would bring another cleverley style loan signing in and leave the squad as it, we have now got a good blend of young and old with the majority being quite young.
Try back of ES3 jumping around like jumping jack spas
Mr ScoffyI think you totally misunderstood the feeling of the game, the time of the game, the euphoria of the fans inside……
The calls for “shoot” were not really heard until we were 90mins + 3…..and (I was one of them shouting – tongue in cheek) we could have had a third – just look at the Utd game today (both teams scored in time added on). If, however, those around you were shouting it throughout the game then either tell them to shut the f@£k up or move seats….after all it’s only a game of football. ;)
Anyway – “shoot” is an old naval command, one that an ‘old soldier’ shouldn’t really be bothered about.
;)
Mr MickyC
I never misunderstood the feeling of the game, its the same every week we have the ball on the edge of the area and all you hear is half the ground moaning and groaning cause we havent shot. It was happening in the first half, i was pointing out what happens when you do just start having pop shots from everywhere like QPR were on Saturday 99% of the time shooting without having a good sight of the goal just gives the opposition the ball. Watson got a shout of shooooot from the East stand late on the second half and he did from about 35 yards out, i think the ball hit a Rugby fan on their way down wemberlee way.
You and me both wolfy, just wish the numptys ranting and raving around me thought the same.
It’s not a Tongue on cheek thing, I know one of them when I hear it. Its not just the shout of Shoooot it’s the groans that come after it when they don’t shoot.
Add Ian Herbert from the Independent,
The first paragraph in this story still winds me up.
“On the face of things, Roberto Martinez did not have much to turn his back on at Wigan. The club’s training ground is in a place called Lower Standing and there’s a rather harsh irony about that because Premier League clubs just don’t stand much lower than Wigan on a number of key criteria.”
Bit of a typical comment but just skimmed the rest of the article and its actually pretty good and fair… :shifty:
Your right about the rest of the article but you know what they say, “First impressions last” and that opening paragraph is one MASSIVE lie.
