A lot of my family and friends are Everton supporters.
They think Martinez is brilliant.
Our new away kit? :)
Have you also forgotten the collective groan of disbelief when he strolled up to take that 1st penalty ……………..???Firstly – I don’t remember a groan – more a bit of astonishment that with better penalty takers he was the first. At least he had the bottle to take one.
But even so, because he isn’t one of the top penalty takers means absolutely nothing when considering his ability elsewhere on the park.
Just checked. RPA capacity is 1,200. Too small.
SW, Griff is there a good reason why we don’t use Robin Park Athletic Stadium as a back up for occasions like this? Surely it would be better than to play it behind closed doors.
That’s a good question Taz. I reckon Garswood could shed some light on that.
It may possibly be due to a lack of safety certificates etc.[/quote]
I’m not really sure, and it will have safety certificates, but it may be due to other events etc scheduled, or just the cost. I know that RPA is quite expensive to rent as it’s Council run. When reserves played there the Council set the entrance fees and season tickets weren’t valid.
Bloody Elton John
Moved to non-football
He, more than Bruce, got that team ticking and is a fine coach with a focus on fitness, which will suit Uwe’s style.
A very good signing.
When the time comes, and hopefully that will not be soon, I am sure there will be a statue outside the stadium.
Beg your pardon then. So let us campaign for a Harry Lyon 100k statue to go with it too then or a Ben Watson holding the cup statue.I’m sure if you raised the money then you could erect a statue.
“But the team behind the £100,000 project is now ready to go public – with a call on adoring Wigan fans to help pay for it” says the article in Wigan Today. They are up for collecting it for Boston. Not a word about Council funding. So why don’t you set up a group to do the same for Latics’ legends. It’s simple. Isn’t it?
Do you think footballers really write like that (“Everyone was gutted”, “the home record since the gaffer came”, “you guys make the atmosphere so special”) or do the ghost writers try to write what they think that we think footballers talk like? :)
Do you think we’ll get a statue of Bobby? The only people who won’t think that’s a good idea aren’t Warriors fans but those who post on here.
He is a Latics fan you knowA good one too. Used to be at Springfield quite often, and if I remember rightly presented Simon Haworth with a Welsh cap on the pitch before one game.
And just because many here don’t like rugby (and I’m no great fan) it is undeniable that he was a key figure in Wigan’s recent history.
I’m no fan of ukeleles either (sorry, Bernard if you read this), but it doesn’t mean the town shouldn’t equally honour George Formby.
I’ve still not received my renewal pack (not that it matters…)Has anyone else?
What’s that song about the empty seats
Mine has just arrived
