For years now Latics fans have said the rugby lie about their attendances and say they have more on than they do (forgetting the legal implications of this of course) and yet now we have bullitt telling us they lie about their attendances to say that there are LESS people on.
After the odd time they disclosed a home attendance i used to take the piss about 8/9k attendances, every Worriers fan would reply “Fuck off there was more than that on, who do you believe, proper dodgy that club!
Standard response that in all honesty but all you can see is the seats around you.
From my half way line East Stand seat the East looks full. Watch back on tv and there about 4000 empty seats as only the middle few blocks are full.
First few from last season

Pretty much every season you can imagine

Perhaps the fault is with sky and bbc?
If your work buddy went to the game he would have heard them tell him the crowd as I do every home game.
They count every ticket sold whether they turn up or not and that figure is announced every week. Same as Latics. Same as most clubs.
Think it was Arsenal who announced a near sell out with about 10,000 empty seats.
The rugbys rent BTW is a % of matchday ticket sales.
All monies on the concourse, hospitality, south stand bar etc go direct to the stadium company.
So that would be a minimum of 14 weeks of income down the drain plus the rent money.
And the stadium was still losing money.
Good idea.
The stadium was losing £750,000 a year with two tenants paying rent so it should run just fine with one tenant (or owner depending on how the new owners decide to run things)
As I said….like it or not the rugby are going nowhere.
“We’ve gone from us putting capital in, for the stadium or training ground for example, but we’ve never wanted to run Wigan Athletic.
In a nutshell.

“we can’t do without them, they can’t do without us”The increase is rent will come in handy no doubt, we can manage without you no worries!
Are we not in administration?
The new owners may wish to get rid of the rugby but if the lease doesn’t get past the council then they don’t get past the efl.
You may not like it bullitt (and some rugby fans may not like it also), but Wigan RL will be going nowhere.
Having a billionaire own 25% will keep us pretty safe though I would think.
Rugby Union got a massive stab of money but League didn’t get much apart from a loan last year.
To be expected with the size of the sport though and the governing body only has itself to blame.
IL will obviously want to look after Wigan RL. I’d imagine we would be the same roles reversed.
Grigg is scoring goals again at MK Dons isn’t he?
So that’s every club at this level except Sunderland, but it’s Grigg that’s the problem.
Tilt and Jones were excellent. Gav Massey looking good too.
The statement was originally written on tuesday and was amended several times with the ever changing environment before being released on friday as we had planned.
If you want to believe it was due to social media “pressure” bullitt then you do that, but i can assure you that it wasn’t.
As for keeping fans updated, in the last 2 weeks we have done a podcast and released a statement.
So a statement from the SC was written on Tuesday, amended several times then released the day after the Admins came out with that bullshit on Thursday?
Not quite.
The admins released their statement the day before we had planned to release ours (they didn’t know about it) updating fans on the goings on throughout the week. This changes almost daily and so statements are amended and this isn’t a case of “write something and post it” there are several people they need to go through before they are submitted such as our lawyer.
Either the SC knew what the Admins were going to say in their statement so sat on it for a few days or someone is telling porkies.
No, we didn’t know anything about the admins statement. Why would we know about a conversation between Paul Stanley and Paul Kendrick?
We had always planned to release a statement on Friday and we did.
Been over a year for me sadly as I missed that one to take my little girl to something. Been a long wait.
