The fact I support the club is why I don’t want us to throw money at a situation by buying players and sacking managers and such like.
I don’t always agree with what goes on at the club, but I’m not going to vent my spleen and make banners and such like because I have little to no say as to what goes on.
We are Wigan Athletic. We have less than 12000 fans. We have little to no income from anything other than TV money that can be put towards wages. When we were in the PL I think it was 90% of our income went on wages.
Despite all of this we are in profit and either make a small profit or break even every year. Yes I loved us being in the top flight and I loved us winning the cup and being in Europe etc etc.
Am I prepared to risk the future of the club, my club, for it? No. If that means I don’t support the club then I guess I’m just a fat Ellgren wearing egg chaser.
They are mediocre at best. McKay is slow as witnessed on Saturday, Clarkes headed goal was missing from 4 yards out and hit a defender to go in.Waghorn scores goals and at this level, given the chance. Best effort we had the other week v Blackburn with him and McLean but Malkys given up on that now????
Id consider Clarke or McKay with those 2 in the team but not both of em up top togetherSo Mckay and Clarke are mediocre at best after 1 game, yet Andy Delort was the next Lionel Messi despite looking shit in 11 games?
Where is the statistical proof?
Which club smaller than us or on a similar budget have achieved what we have and continue to punch above their weight a decade later?
Which of these clubs are in the solid financial state that we are?
Why have we kept the same backroom staff whenever we have sacked managers ?Why do we have 4 leftbacks ?
Why is Caldwell still on top dollar and listed as a player ?
1 – Good question. Seems strange.
2 – They’re all as shite as each other.
3 – How do you know what he’s on?
I also understand his man management skills left a lot to be desired with rumours of dressing-room unrest. His comment in that “resignation speech” after the Bolton game where he publically stated that some who featured that night would have to wait a long time before they played for him again would seem to suggest all was not wellI actually agreed with that part of his interview.
What do we do if that doesn’t work?
How many times do we pay Managers off?
We are just gearing up for League One and trying a smaller budget
I’m going to wait more than two games before I chastise our new signings, but I will agree that time is running out.
Taylor.
He makes Figs and Crainey look good
Doesn’t need. He has contacts at the club.
I agree with Yosser. I wish DW had never come along and ‘saved’ the club so we could be in a better position now.
In fact, I reckon it’d be us preparing to host Barcelona in the Champs League not Man City AND it’d be an 8500 sell out at old Springy.
Who Egg? Maybe the Liverpool lad possibly? The lack of new manager syndrome is because of the shitestorm which engulfed him when he landed. Under other circumstances he may have got off to a flying start.
Then he started doing what Rosler did, messing about with the team in such a way we were never going to score many goals, certainly not enough to cover our shite defence (Ramis excepted). I think he tried to play too many of our ‘stars’ who all happened to be midfielders. At no point do I think the players weren’t trying to win football games and I suppose that’s where opinions differ.
All of them impress me and I think we’ve strengthened in every position.
Malky was trying to get the best of the bad bunch he had.
You clearly aren’t a fan of Mackay and no doubt if we get out of this you will praise someone else as opposed to him. I on the other hand am willing to give the guy time.
I’ve pointed to the players all along and the lack of the ‘new manager syndrome’ under Mackay is the basis for it.
They didn’t like Coyle so did what they could to get rid. Rosler came in and we were a different side. Then he apparently lost the dressing room and they got rid of him. We’ve been the same shower under Mackay though as we were under Rosler so I don’t believe that that was the reason.
I was willing to give Rosler time to bring his players in and then judge him and it wasn’t good. I’m willing to give Malky the same. He’s brought some good looking signings in so here’s hoping.
Ha ha.
He made a rod for his own back sending their player off in the first half so obviously everyone wanted the same.
Was quite a niggly dirty game TBH and he could quite easily have sent a few off.
Think there’ll be some early season bans for a few, especially with the scuffle at the end.
Rugby refs have always been crap. You always think they’re biased against your team, but even when you watch as a neutral you wonder what the hell they’re doing.
Exactly Donny. I hope they go up and ruffle a few PL feathers
