The current system gives you no reward for your league position after 27 games. Wigan’s reward for finishing above the rest was a silver dinner plate and the choice of the current SL Champions or the Challenge Cup Winners in a semi final. Akin to Man City having the choice last year after the Aguero goal to play Chelsea or Man Utd.

The previous systems of top 5 and 6 got decent crowds prior to the depression and actually rewarded your league place. The fact that in over 10 years of the playoffs only 2 teams outside the top 2 had made the final and only 1 had won it showed that. Since the top 8 format we’ve had 2 winners from 5th and a final of 3rd v 5th. Isn’t right and people are seeing that (other than Leeds and the RFL)

The regular season is seen as a joke now and already small crowds will drop which will finish certain clubs.

I’d say that’s incredibly optimistic seeing as that’s only 6 points and you said 7 ;)

I’m going to sound like Mark Lawrenson here, but it depends which Wigan turn up. I’m sick of going into a game confident only for us to forget how to pass the ball to each other and play absolutely sh*te.

Long may it continue because it obviously means we’re heading in the right direction on the field.

Hope they keep Hughes and he takes them down

I dont like the playoffs, but in the same way you can finish 6th and be promoted about 3rd or finish 4th and win a competition called the CHAMPIONS league, we all know the rules.

The rl playoffs would be far better if the format was different and most rlfans will agree with you. It isnt the only sport to have such a system though and even football has the same system in certain leagues (even if they are shite)

The main reason I posted on here in the first place wasnt to do with the playoffs but to quash the myth that Latics get bigger crowds than the rugby. Yes they may get a larger attendance but when you take away the visiting support both clubs average the same number. Ive posted numerous times on the rugby boards to quash the myths that there are 5000 away fans every week and il do the same in this situation.

Il say it again though, rl is on its arse. Even i can admit that.
