Thought the officials gave us feck all yesterday. Even the commentators were baffled by some of his decisions. A foul on Moses by Essien given as a free kick to Chelsea for handball (he knew he’d have to send Essien off), Figueroa booked for winning the ball when Torres’ foot was 6ft off the floor, the first goal being offside, two offsides for the winner (how can Ivanovic say he isn’t interfering when he sticks his foot out to tap it in??)

I was really p*ssed off yesterday. We fully deserved a point, we deserved to be 16th after our recent performances and it was all taken away by some utter incompetence by a set of gobshites who as you say won’t have to explain their decisions to anyone.

They still play it, in fact they love it. Everyone has to start somewhere.

They’ve both stopped trying to play football and are concentrating on defending. It’s working wonders.

We need to still be within 3 points after the Arsenal game. If we need to claw back more than that in the last 4 games then I fear we’ve gone.

Having checked the league today and weighed up the situation, what is interesting and sort of back up your point is that we’ve lost less games than the other 4 teams in the battle, but have won less as well. Too many draws in games that as you say, we should have won.

No they were all great escapes – think he means like when we have scored a pan full

dont think we have ever hit the onion bag 6 times so guess it was the 5 v Blackburn

5-0 away at Hull is our biggest win in the Prem and bigger than the 5-3 vs Blackburn on account of none conceded
3-2 vs West Ham has to be our most significant
3-2 vs Arsenal our most unbelievable[/quote]

Agree. Don’t forget 3-1 v Chelsea, 1-0 v Liverpool and 3-0 v Sunderland (we went top of the PL)

This really isn’t “having a go” at them, but does anyone else think the choice of venues is very odd?

                          World Cup fixture list

Lots of games played outside the RL heartland while France get to play two of their games in France, Scotland play two in Whitehaven. Cook Islands v USA is going to pack them in at Bristol, isn’t it? England v Australia, the most attractive group game, will be played in Cardiff??

The DW only gets one game, fair enough a quarter final but one between teams that finished second and third in their groups (how can you finish third and still qualify?).

Saints, Salford, and Hull (KC Stadium) only get one each. Although they haven’t decided definitely yet it looks like the semi-finals will be at Wembley, but the final at OT.

It just looks odd to me.

It will be the England QF at the DW as well.

It seems I’m an unlucky mascot. Missed 3 home games this season.

QPR, Chelsea and today. Genuinely thinking of missing the next few games.

Egg, all you’ve just done is prove that the rugby fans pick and choose their games more than Latics fans. It shows that a decent proportion of rugby fans are actually turning up for the opposition rather than Wigan themselves.

Do you call that loyalty? However it is good of you to admit it isn’t a rugby town. Maybe you could explain your reasons to the Lord of the Pies.

Like I said, they’ll both average around the same number of home fans at the end of a season. Wigan averaged around 16.5k last year and the average away gate is about 1500. Latics average 18-19k and the average away gate is around 3k.

Gotta be on average larger gates than our lodgers as well ! The old rugby town monkey is gonna be on our back until the demise of RL itself I feel ! Might not be that far off actually !!

The ‘lodgers’ are set to have a crowd bigger than any WAFC crowd this season though later tonight. ;)

The highest DW crowds since August 2010:

                                  24,268 – Wigan v St George-Illawarra 27/2/11 – around 20000 Wigan fans
                                  24,057 – Wigan v St Helens 22/4/11 – around 18500 home fans
                                  22,043 – Latics v West Ham 15/5/11 – around 16500-17000 home fans
                                  21,379 – Latics v WBA 17/3/12 – around 16000 home fans
                                  21,056 – Wigan v Warrington 25/3/11 – around 17000 home fans

The 5 lowest are all more than likely Wigan RL games I’ll give you that, but the fact is that both sides will average somewhere between 13000 and 15000 HOME fans in a season with the potential of hitting 17000 every now and again.

Three weeks ago against Catalans there were 14450 home fans and last week there were 12600. Tonight there’ll probably be around 18000-18500.?

I’m a rugby fan first and foremost and even I’ll admit that Wigan is NOT a rugby town. Wigan is a football town. The problem is that they don’t support Wigan Athletic. If they did then we’d need the Nou Camp to play our home games in. Both teams have around the same number of fans that attend games but I’d say that the rugby have the more ‘armchair’ fans and the fact that they can turn up for any game they like gives them more chance of hitting a big home crowd than Latics.

Both teams hitting 20k crowds on a regular basis is what a town this size should be aiming for though imho.

I also think we’ll lose tonight btw
