The Football Supporters’ Federation is undertaking a season-long project to measure the experience of the away fan. We would like to assemble the thoughts and experiences of fans in the Premier League and Championship throughout the season, the ultimate aim of which is to improve the lot of the travelling fan.

Using the results of this study we intend to discuss with clubs and the football authorities, in an academic fashion, what keeps fans committed to travelling and to the sacrifices they make, what they look for as a travelling fan, what they hope to see, what they don’t enjoy and why they feel valued or otherwise.

It doesn’t matter whether you attend one match a year or every single one. You can fill in the survey as many times as you like, applicable to whichever fixture(s) you have attended. The survey only takes a couple of minutes to complete, and naturally all answers are given anonymously, and no personal or identifying data will be passed on to third parties. Ever.

If you’ve been to an away game this season please take a minute or two to help us out at http://surveymonkey.com/s/away-fans

      Thanks!

I would like to take this opportunity to warn you in advance of the illiterate reply that you may very well receive from one of our fans !
Indeed a similar start to last season but the team in general are playing a lot better than you are giving them credit for imo plus in your analysis you failed to mention the cup run we are currently on ,maybe that is the good news from this season that you faik to allude to ,so technicly we are marginally better off than last season

Thty, Stop trying to create the divide between the board again. I have spotted you trying to do it a few times now.

You are going to have to elaborate on scapegoat because that is not the case and you are wrong. So far Ramis has been poor and a good few goals that could have been prevented by us have gone through him. That isn’t making a scapegoat, That is saying how it is. Why tred on egg shells saying he is doing well if he just isn’t. He might do in time but i very much doubt it. That is where i disagree with Standish. I think his lack of pace in a league where it is bombed from end to end will be the undoing of him here. He would have been well suited at West Ham though if he had gone there because as you say, He is strong in the air and his vision from the back going forward seems very good.

If our system and the way we play cant get maximum points out of West Ham it really will be panic time. And the rumblings start again. Fans (in general) will not pay if there is no value for money and/or no attempt to amend results or the squad.

Divide the board/forum no way ,I was merely pointing out that the fans have to have a scapegoat last year Jordi got the rough end of it when results were going tits up this season it’s Ramis who is getting the crap thrown at him . As for panic stations if we dont pick up three points against the hammers dear god man grow some balls will you I’m sure the alarm bells at other clubs who have spent a lot more than we have will be in panic mode
I suggest you read the Boyce link above ! Even he knows that things need to change and fast !
Do you think that he has told Roberto or is Roberto oblivious to all that is happening on the field and has to find out in a newspaper article ?

                  Good to hear.

I think it might be a nice idea to invite Bobby Campbell back as the VIP guest for this game. I hear he’s bringing an autobiography out. Well, it might be handy for him selling a few extra copies to Latics fans.

(JAY T, can you put a word in about this with the powers that be? Bobby was a real legend for us, in the two seasons he spent with us.)

I am looking forward to this game probably more than I am league games at the moment. It’s something a bit different and not surrounded by as much intense pressure as league games.

10,000 wouldn’t be a bad crowd for this, I think.

I read that Bobby Campbell will be guest of honour for the game details here goodpost goodpost

I’d be a hypocrit to be against it because I have worked a lot in other countries and think it’s great that anybody can go anywhere in Europe to work for a while.

Time for the really controversial comment that a few people are really going to hate, but if you have knuckled down and become really good in your field of work, you wouldn’t worry about anybody else taking your job, be it English, Polish, robots or them little green buggers from Mars. The country as a whole has been far too lapse in recent years thinking that we will be prosperous because we have been for centuries. Unfortunately, times are changing and other countries are fast catching up to us and overtaking us. Unfortunately, it’s often far too easy to blame everybody else but ourselves when we don’t get what we want from life.

                          Let the abuse begin…

Totally agree with that. No abuse from me.

In fact, I moved from Wigan over 20 years ago to live and work in the South East. Why? More money…lots more money. The only difference between me and those discussed on here is distance.

I also have to explode the myth about older workers taking jobs from youngsters. Sorry Thrityfive, but ask any economist and they will tell you it’s completely false. An old person in work is contributing to the eceonomy, spending mponey that gives rise to other jobs and paying taxes. An old person out of work contributes nothing in taxes and might also need to claim housing benefit, etc.
then what is the answer a younger person can’t get that job because the older person has it so the younger person then claims benefit and contributes nothing in taxes

You will probably find that these migrant workers have filled the void left by the work shy unemployed who refuse to see any benefit (no pun intended) in taking a job and no matter what the governments try to do will more than likely find an excuse. In an ideal world we will see the young coming into the job market and taking these jobs.

Whilst sharing your views on the workshy younguns it is unfair to tar them all with the same brush many younguns can’t find jobs especially round the Wigan area with places shutting left ,right and center there is also an unbalanced view to the labour market with many older folk working past there retirement age thus taking a big chunk of the jobs that should be available to the younger end .

A lot of firms don’t bother to write back to you anymore even if you apply for a job these days ,Maybe we should of kept the coal mines open and steelworks which a certain bitter old bag shut down putting thousands out of work and actually being encouraged to go on the sick by that government of the time which then sprouted a generation of layabouts that we see today

UEFA are useless with these kind of issues. They don’t know how to discipline people/clubs or countries at all.

This is a matter for FIFA, They need to sanction some serious punishments to both the Serbia U-21 and full squad to make an example and issue a warning to every other country that it will not be tolerated. Spain should have got the treatment a few years ago, No chance of punishing them though. Platini is just an England hating joker.

There Iies the probem Yosser if they ban Serbia then the prescedence is set. What happens if the Spanish,ItaIians or Sausage eaters who have aII in the past had raciaI issues offend again?.There is never any chance of the big nations being banned ever.Thats why I beIieve FIFA and EUFA continue to bury their heads in the sand.
Indeed Nuneaton there would be an imediate lawsuit filed by the Serbian FA if one of the nations you mentioned got off lightly
