The forecats forecast for Saturday has been changing every time I’ve looked this week & differs depending on which site you go on.
The Yahoo one on my phone is showing 12 degrees & sunny
The BBC website is showing 11 degrees & lashing it down from just after 12 till gone 7
Myweather2.com shows it as between 14 & 10 degrees with the rain (& light rain at that) not starting till about 6
Accuweather shows it being pretty decent up till around kick off & then the heavens opening

They’re playing merry hell with my outfit choice for tomoz!!

I thought that at the time, have thought it ever since & still think it after seeing that clip, but that season I went to the player of the season do at the supporters club & the put an end of season highlights video thingy up on a screen – I turned to a mate & said pretty much what you posted & Graeme Jones (who was stood about 3 yards away) looked at us, shook his head & said “it wasn’t”

All I can summise from that is that David Lee told them he took a tumble

That went up before my time but we used to have to have an independent survey done every year testing for electro-magnetic radiation at various points on the site.
You get more off your telly at home than you did anywhere from the mast

Anyroad see thee at Wembley. Apparently they’ll be so few of us there we’ll all know each other by name!!!

Yeah still goin although not as much of a match goer these days wi the ol’ reffing

I’m not a teacher. I was in charge of all the money/building/non-teaching stuff. All the old teachers had left by the time I started although miss busby & mr Lowe hadn’t been long gone. Place hadn’t changed a bit since our days but we completely gutted it during my time

I was at Garrett Hall too. Always remember Mr Lowe smoking in the changing rooms before P.E. he didn’t take any crap that fellow, and really good at coaching.

Same surname as me too – although no relation!!
Who are you by the way? I’ll take a stab that your surname is Graham as I used to bump into him @ Springfield Park quite a few times

Same year as me, which school in Tyldesley?

The one & only Garrett Hall where I also went on to work & (more importantly) coach the school football team for several years from 2002

If you’re talking secondary schools I went to Bedford High, up Leyth

In his defence, whilst he did bang on about what a fantastic woman she was & leave you in no doubt as to his political affiliations, he did also say that regardless of which party they represented then any former PM who dies should be given a minutes silence out of respect of their service to the country.

Not saying I agree with pretty much anything he said in that interview, nor would I observe a minutes silence but when he qualifies his belief with the above it puts it into a slightly different context

Dave, I’ll back you up on this. I started school in 1974 and was still getting milk when I got to juniors in 1977. I remember this because I was Milk Monitor.

I too will back you up Dave
I started school as a 4 yr old in 1979 & I can remember getting milk at break time in the Reception Class which we didn’t pay for. However we came back (either after a school holiday or a weekend) & were told that we were no longer getting it and that it was the government’s fault.
But Thatcher did get the nickname “Thatcher the milk snatcher” when she was education secretary & she stopped it in the early 70’s – the link further back in the thread about it continuing until she was PM in 1980ish is what happened & why there’s some confusion between people

Like Standish I too had a short lived reign as milk monitor which ended when I was stood nonchalantly clinking 2 of the bottles together, they smashed & it ended up all over the carpet & the room stank for weeks

Still no official news on what pubs we have been allocated near Wembley

I spoke with the landlord this morning & he confirmed that The Torch (right by Wembly Park tube station) has been allocated to Latics
The Green Man has been allocated to Millwall. Dunno about any others nearby

As much as I despised the woman, many of the things she did & what she stood for, I’m not gonna gloat over anyone’s death as at the end of the day she was a much loved mum, grandmother etc.. to some people

But mourn her passing? RIP? or any of that stuff? – not a cat in hells chance

I thought the exact same thing about the 2 free kicks but I think you’re way off the mark for the sending off.

If he was annoyed about anything with the sending off it’ll be his own positioning & therefore view of the incident. If you watch the replay it looks like he hasn’t really got his eyes fully on play & only catches any veiw of it out of the corner of his eye. That’s why he’s had to consult his assistant & by doing so he’s in effect admitting to whoever assesses the game that he didn’t see it & bearing in mind that that’s exactly where teh ball was & he had an unimpeded view then he should have seen it & it’ll possibly be a black mark against his mark

At the risk of sounding like Bobby, yesterday really was one of those games where the opposition going down to 10 men works against you – up to that point I thought that it was an open game with Latics looking slightly the better side & the only worry was when that Townsend ran at the defence.
When Zamora got sent off QPR just packed everybody back into the last 30 yards of the pitch whenever Latics got the ball & when a team does that Bobby’s system & style of play can start to look laboured coz you can have all the possession in the world but when there’s little or no space for people to run in to then it winds up being constant sideways passing, shots from distance, midfielders getting frustrated & giving the ball away as they look to thread through narrow gaps.
It’s up to the manager to then try & alter things but IMHO I think the change in system came a bit late & the player who got replaced (Beausejour) was possibly the only player who seemed to be finding any sort of space
