I watched Luton and Asgaard again last night and he had a bit of a shocker.
Luton fans were talking about him being poor as well, after the game. He’s being played as a flat central midfielder and it doesn’t suit him at all. Certainly not at Luton.
And they’re advertising next Tuesday night tickets…
“Adults from £26…”
Are the club deluded? That’s a lot of money for a Tuesday night game. An average game really, no disrespect to Huddersfield.
How many are going to fork out that money for a ticket? I already think it’ll be a low turnout. They’ll still include the ST who won’t be there (3 from us alone). There are quite a few ST holders staying away at the moment.
But charging £26 for someone to just decide to go to the match…its not going to attract many.Maybe it’ll be when the ST sales are drastically down in the summer they’ll realise how many people have dropped off.
Lose these next 2 or 3 games and we are in trouble. Win 2 and draw 1 of them, I think it’ll near enough see us clear.
But to win games, you have to score goals. And can’t see where they’ll come from.
If I were a manager, I’d want to keep to a fairly rigid ‘settled first 11’, barring injuries or suspensions. My changes would be minimal and done out of necessity rather than choice. Maloney just makes changes for changes sake it seems.
For me, and golden rule would be not to change a settled back 4 unless it was forced upon you. When he’s pulling a centre back off the field and moving full backs about, it’s disruption you don’t need. Some of his selections and choices absolutely has me baffled. And you can say “he’s been in football years, he knows more than you.” Really? I’m not convinced. There is not a cat in hells chance I wouldn’t have brought an experienced striker in either at the start of the season, or the January window. Everyone could see it. We were crying out. But stubborn bollocks knew best….
At any other club, he would’ve been sacked well before Christmas, probably around October time. But we aren’t a normal club. We’re a charade of a club. Just ticking along for as long as they can have us ticking along. But make no mistake, tbe attendances are falling drastically. I saw a photo of the east stand from the away end earlier and I was shocked how empty it was. I didn’t realise. It’ll be even worse at the Huddersfield game. They might announce 8000 on or something like that, but that’s including the season tickets…and there’s 3 here, plus myself who won’t be going. There’s a lot more besides.
Wait til they have the cheek to start putting renewal dates and deadlines out, they’re in for a shock because I can see ST take up being the lowest it’s been in years. The 6k they said we had last season I can see it being more like 4k. You can’t blame people one bit.People, and especially Wiganers, will only turn out of there’s something worth turning out for. In the days of Swain, we were shite. But we still scored some goals and still created some entertainment. It was better than this what we have now. A lot better. Our owners then, Gage and Bitel, didn’t have a pot to piss in, but they didn’t lie to us either. They steadied the ship and kept us going until Whelan came on board.
Being told that the aim is to get back up to the Championship and then ultimately the Premier League, and then being ran how we are, and seeing us actually going in the other direction is insulting. We aren’t stupid. We are miles away from getting anywhere near the Championship. And yet when you look at the overall quality of this League One, apart from Birningham and Wrexham, the money clubs, there’s nothing in the rest of the league. Our biggest obstacles is actually ourselves. Is there actual genuine ambition in the club? I can’t see it myself. Genuine ambition would, or will see a change of manager and that manager backed properly in the summer to get us making progress and going as a club.
But I won’t hold my breath. I don’t know when I will go a game again at the moment. Unless things change, it could be a while.
Next home game on a Tuesday night V Huddersfield, can see it being a very poor crowd. Can’t blame anybody for giving it a swerve.
How long will they let it drag on for before we get the corner flag photo and ‘Club Statement’?.
That said, they’ll probably do it and when you click on it’ll tell is that “listen, this f***** is going nowhere so like it or lump it.”I’ve just looked up at a huge list of out of work managers. A lot were foreign and likely out of our reach. Ones I did see and thought they might be within our reach…
Ryan Lowe
Paul Warne
Neil Harris
Duncan FergusonBut…and this is the thing. If we are going to ever make that change, there’s going to have to be some more backing of the new man from our owner and board. This running the club on buttons has got us in the state we are. By all means, yes, we need to be careful and sensible, but then again to make any progress as a club, I think we do need some financial investment for stronger signings. It’s imperative we get the scouting section set up at the club, to get out there and maybe find some gems in places like the Vanarama League and the League Of Ireland. Grimsby, for example, signed Cameron McJannett, captain of Derry City last summer. Bolton signed Eoin Toal as well, after we were linked with him.
So much at the club needs to be picked up and improved.Enough is enough.
I’ve swerved most of this season but now done the last 3 home games. People near me asking me when I’ll go again…and I honestly don’t know.
I don’t like our manager.
I don’t like our players. With any manager, or any club WORTH THEIR SALT, Smith and Adeeko wouldn’t get near a starting place in midfield. Both are not good enough. And Sibbick? Jesus tonight. Awful. Shocking player.
Then there’s the lack of a goalscorer. We all saw it ages ago, we all knew it. This manager, he’s worse than Warren Joyce and Kolo The Clown. He’s had extra leeway because of his history with us. Enough is enough.I don’t know when I will bother going again. You’d think Bolton maybe? But if we are playing like that…nah I’ll give it a miss.
Maloney HAS to go. Clubs bloody dying with this shite.
Whoever agreed to give Everton 33% sell on fee, is a clown. That’s ridiculously high. I play management games and they are so realistic these days, Mourinho and others actually use them for research.
I’ve never done a sell on for more than 25%. Usually it’s 15-20%. To sign off giving someone a THIRD of the sell on fee…thats absolute madness. Been done again.A couple of weeks ago York fans were getting on Stones back apparently. Questioning if he was good enough or not.
I’ve no doubt that it was quite useful having an ex player as chairman. Dave Whelan played against some if the best players of his generation, such as Bobby Charlton and Duncan Edwards. He played against them in inter Army games during the National Service days. I think he even played alongside Edwards.
So Dave knew a player. Most of us who’ve been going years know who is a good player and who isn’t. We can see the limitations of our current squad, and how when they are all fit that a player such as Matt Smith isn’t used correctly. Plays too deep.Maybe it’s a point that we haven’t got that knowledge in the powers that be at the top of the club. Is it just a ‘project’ for them? Rather than a devotion.
Maybe we need a manager to be under more pressure from a more pushy and hands-on type of board.
We’re knackered in the summer when all these loans go back. Back to having no players again.
Another thing with loan players is, if we go down, they’ll just walk away not bothered. It’s a dangerous game Baloney and the club are playing.
We can’t keep on running the club like that year on year. Or we will end up in non league. Just keep signing misfits and never will he’s year upon year…it catches up with you.
And where’s the next big hopeful in the youth set up? I can’t see that we’ve got anybody coming through. Our actual squad has hardly any value to it, apart from Tickle and maybe Kerr. This current ‘model’ won’t work forever so at some point some money will have to be spent.
I think I’ll be happy now as long as we still have Tickle and Kerr come midnight.
We don’t need another defender. We’ve got that Josh Robinson to come in at right back and then Sibbick will be a centre back reserve.
I’ve heard good things about Kristian Sekulerac at Fulham. Interestingly, his grandad was a Red Star Belgrade club legend, Dragoslav Sekulerac, who played for them in the 50s. A number 10 in the playmaker mould of the likes of Gheorge Hagi or Zidane. So the lad is from great pedigree. Not sure how good he is, but I’d like us to have a look.
I’d love us to bring a striker in tomorrow, but I’ll equally be as happy if the window closes and we haven’t lost anybody else this window.
Wiredu, that is. Apparently failed the medical.
But if that’s right 600k for a defender we don’t need….
Get a bloody striker signed you incompetent bellends.
Failed the medical, apparently.
If we can spend 600k on a defender we don’t need, why can’t we go and spend that on a striker such as Jatta from Notts County?
The club and our manager really baffle me.
I see Wrexham are signing everyone.
Signed Sam Smith from Reading and Jay Rodriguez from Burnley today.
I honestly can’t wait til they go tits up.
