Oh I hope Ronan Darcy does really well for us. No beef with the player, at all.
I don’t know what the actual wall is they’ve got to us going for a striker. You see clubs like Leyton Orient, Bromley, and many others and you see they’ve got a player who can be a real handful and can score goals. Yet we always go for someone who doesn’t score goals.
I’m sick to death of loan players now. Apart from Taylor, they’ve been crap who they’ve brought in. And this self sufficient nonsense they keep wittering on about, how’s that going to work in forthcoming seasons when we haven’t got any more young scarlets to sell on? Because we’ve relied heavily on borrowed players.
It’s a short-term thing, definitely not a long term thing. Unless we discover some absolute gems…its not going to happen.
If this is the sum of our aspirations and ambition, we really are in massive trouble.
We’re only heading in one direction at this club. The difference to 93-94 when we recruited suchlikes as Morton and Gavin is we really didn’t have a pot to piss in, were paying players £200pw and our top goalscorer ended up being Andy Lyons who also worked as a postie in Blackpool whilst playing for us. But…even though we were shite, we did score goals. And we did play attacking football. We were miles better than how we’ve been showing recently.Well, I hope people start showing their decision by voting with their feet and giving games a miss.
Lots have already dropped off, including ST holders who are staying away. They still get counted in the attendance though, hence why it always seems they’re announcing 8756 when in reality it’s minus 8000. And it’s going to get worse and worse. I’ve no thought of going on Saturday, and the cup game is also a no no. I couldn’t care less about it, to be honest.
I genuinely think this is worse than Kolo. We’ve had 2 years of this now and have gone backwards. Maloney was never the owners choice…so why have they not appointed their own man? Because they don’t actually care and he’s a cheap option. Probably the only man who would work to the constraints they set.
With his links and all that, it’s a shame it’s gone this way. But it’s even worse because it’s being allowed to drag on. For me, I look at Burton and they’ve got Gary Bowyer as manager. How that guy has never had a crack here, I’ll never know. He’s transforming Burton and may well keep them up yet. They did us a couple of weeks ago.
My point though is a new man to come in and shuffle the pack…albeit a poor pack, might just shape these into something that stabilises us those season and keeps us away from the drop. My biggest fear now is us selling Tickle on or just before Mondays deadline. If we do that, we will be right royally screwed. Big time. It’s simply Aasgaards decision…..he can choose to stay and wait. Unless he’s completely pissed off with the running of the club and just wants to get out of Dodge. Can’t blame him if I’m truthful. Was hoping Lutons interest would start a bidding bun fight, but more likely Danson wants a cash return 1st and foremost so probably deadbolt the door behind him as he left for negotiations…..I try never miss a game at home and have done quite a few away but thinking about sacking Saturday off. The football on offer is dreadful,w### ambition signings,w### ambition sales..pointless continual loan deals…the dreary uninviting stadium and match day experience etc struggling to get me there so no F####### chance of persuading day tripper supporters to come on down. Really starting to lose that “my club” passion I’ve always had…..Danson may have rescued us but in 18 months done nothing to regenerate that feeling of unity and us against the odds that was so prevalent in all the 50 year I’ve supported us. He may own us but he doesn’t appreciate the emotional input during our lives that we invest in our club….you can’t buy that or put a price on it……then again he’d F####### try !!!!!….Club feels like a carcass being picked apart.
Totally agree.
It’s all the reason I didn’t renew in the summer. The club is just ticking along and despite what they put out every now and again at forums and things like that, I don’t see any ambition whatsoever. In Administration, we ended up with a valueless squad.
With Aasgaard going and maybe Tickle as well, that’s our two assets that’s worth anything, gone. The rest are a mish mash of freebies and loans. Not much value at all left. And not much coming through the youth ranks, either. Luke Brennan was highly rated and you know where he is at now? Buxton.
People have mentioned ‘asset stripping’. So far this season, we’ve lost Charlie Hughes and Josh Stones. We are likely losing Aasgaard and maybe Tickle as well. Is it asset stripping? It’s hard to say it isn’t.
The old club we knew and loved, has gone. This isn’t the same club, we are existing and nothing else. It’s shite. Fans are dropping off massively and it’ll only get worse and worse. Can’t blame anyone.
Preston have had a bid for Tickle turned down as well.
We could end up with no Aasgaard and also having Andy Lonergan as our first choice keeper at 41 years of age. He’s not played a game for 2 years.
If this happens…shambles.
But wouldn’t surprise me.
I bet he gets sold but it’ll only be announced at about 10.55pm on deadline day, thus giving the excuse of “not being able to bring anyone in”.
The money will just disappear. Again.
I thought he had worked as a coach at the academy in more recent years, like in the last 15 or 20 years?
Id stay well clear now.
We have a real tendency to look backwards at Latics and employ people with links all the time. Sometimes a new broom and outlook is the way to go, some times it isn’t.
The attendance will no doubt include all the ST holders who haven’t even attended. From my household, there were 3 ST holders who didn’t attend.
I bet there were loads who didn’t go and who haven’t bothered for a while. But they’ll still be included in the attendance. So there is likely no way there was even 7000 on.
My lad is 18, not far off 19. He’s saying he’s not renewing next season after having had one since he was about 3. I know of others the same age who have been diehards. They’ve jacked in and gone off travelling and things. My lads are getting the same. Good on them, don’t get bogged down with football loyalty. It’s cost me jobs and women over the years and frankly, there are more important things in life. Clubs don’t actually give two shits about supporters at the end of the day. What are we? Peasants at the jousting, or the modern equivalent. That’s all we are. Until we are actually a fans run, community club, like they have in Germany, we are milked for our stubborn blind loyalty. Well, I’m afraid Myself, and likely many others, have already dropped off.
I mean, shit, I don’t actually like my own club anymore. Or rather what we have become? Since Administration and all the Talal nonsense, it’s not been tbe same club…its not, has it? We were a very close nit club..we always were. I was proud of how we were. But all that’s gone. The club and support have never been as distant.
And they’ve milked having Maloney a man with link and history to the club. They’ve abused us with it in all honesty. Used it as a kind of bargaining tool, playing on it massively. But they’ve pushed it too far and the managers failings and ineptness has pushed people to pack in going. Where this will all end and to what depth we have to sink before something happens, I’ve no idea. I definitely don’t see any ambition in the club as it stands. I dint really think they are too bothered if we stay up, or go down. Just as long as we ‘tick along’ with as little fuss as possible. We are becoming something of a non entity really.
Last night was a disgrace. Thank God I watched on TV.
The club is in a right mess and we need to do what Bolton have done and pot our manager. He’s inept. He’s only survived so long due to his history at the club. That last night was as bad as anything Kolo the Klown churned out and as bad as anything from Coyle, Mackay, Joyce spells. I won’t even say Kenny Swain was as bad. At least his sides did try and did score some goals. That was when we didn’t have a pot to piss in, early to mid 90s. I think this is worse.
I’ve not been a game in months, I’ve not been well for a while so that’s not helped. However, I was going to attend on Saturday, taking advantage of the free ticket thing. I have a ticket, but can I be bothered? No. Last night was shocking.I’ll be straight up, I don’t like the manager. I think he is shocking and clueless. I don’t like most of the players, I think some of them are frauds…and we’ve ended up lumbered with them. Well done, Baloney. I can see Thelo going next week as well.
I dont like the signs of penny pinching, like starting to put small away support in the west stand. They’ve clearly been thinking ahead with a ‘what will we do in Lg 2 when a small away support comes?’ So if that’s the thinking…talk about lack of ambition.
So if you don’t like the manager, players and the way the club is going, why should you go to games?
Attendances falling off rapidly. How long will they let it go on for before they do something? In all my time following Latics, I think this is the worst we’ve been as a club. We’re just ticking along…existing. we’re a fraud of a club and only heading in one direction.I see Bolton have acted and parted company with Kreese. *
*John Kreese, Cobra Kai sensei. I liken Evatt to him. 🤣
Agree with all that’s been said.
Clearly, they’ve given consideration to us being in Lg2 soon.
Theyve no ambition for Latics at all, have they?
If they do want to move us to Orrell and a ground there, I actually wouldn’t mind. That stadium is shite.
Spoke to a couple of Leeds fans a few months back and they reckon Gelhardt is on 30k a week. Great wage for the lad, setting him up nicely. But surely he wants to play? The wages have put a lot off taking him on loan.
Hull obviously have the money to take him. Probably a 60-40 split on the wages. He definitely has to leave Leeds if he wants to move on with his career.
Wait til Aasgaard is sold and the 3 million just disappears….
Still, at least we have a club. 🤦
I’ve heard…and it might not be true…
That there are 4 clubs who have activated the release clause of 3 million.
Thelo wants to stay for now…club wants to sell.
I’ve a feeling he’ll be gone either on, or before deadline day. Probably be announced on deadline day at 10.45pm, perfect excuse for not spending any of the money and it’ll disappear…
