And people are gobbing off on Facebook etc, saying we will sell Tickle for 10 million….

…will we balls. If he goes it’ll be for no more than about 1.5 million with a few supposed ‘add ons’.

Same for Hughes. Why people are so far up the clubs and Maloneys arse, I’ve no idea.

He definitely SHOULD hold out for a better move.

However people talking about us getting millions for either him or Hughes need to realise that if one, or both, are sold, it will end up being for disappointing fees. I’d be surprised if we got more that £1 million for either. Maybe there will be add ons. But rest assured, if anybody offers any money for any of our players, they’ll be gone.

They got into them and had a go.

More importantly, they had a shot when they had the chance. Something we hardly do.

Newport and Maidstone have been a breath of fresh air this weekend. The speed that Maidstone got the ball forward was great. In comparison, we are so slow.

            Go on then, explain why?

            He’s clueless.

You know what the future of this club needs?

            1. A manager recruited from outside of any club links. We always go for a manager with club links…its bizarre. No other club is so ‘inward’.
            2. A manager who is not some radical appontment, like Kolo The Clown was.
            3. An experienced manager who isn’t brainwashed by the ‘Pep Style’.

No doubt Reading will be thinking the same. I just hope our players are up for it and if by luck or chance we do happen to take the lead I just pray we don’t sit back like at Doncaster and think the jobs done.

I just have this feeling that there’s alot of our player right now at the club who don’t give a flyers because they know their not going to be here next season.

I personally feel we’ll have a huge drop in our monthly wage budget and some high earners who are out of contract come the summer will get derogatory new offers to fit in with our new wage capping.

Basically its a way to ever so gently nudge you out the door rather than a big push and retain you for a fractiom of what you were getting

I wouldnt be at all surprised if we end up in Lg2. Maybe it’s actually our level now, I don’t know.

If we lose Lang and one or two more this window, we are in shit Street Arizona.

Out of all the players when we were relegated, I actually thought Lang would kick on at the lower level and be a standout key player.
But he’s never been played in his best position by Maloney. I may be wrong, but I sense some dressing room disharmony. Humphreys has the body language of someone not happy, and Lang definitely isn’t.

A good ex player for us is not necessarily a good manager for us.

Maloney has never played him in his right hand side attacking position, where we saw the best from him.

I also have the feeling he wont be the only one going this month.

If we weaken ourselves there’s a real danger of us dropping to Lg2. Dangerous games….

Well that was an unnecessary action to drag him back in the first place…..

                    What the hell?

Hope he goes permanent, for his own sake. Never given a chance here, never will be.

I’ve been told Jensen Weir would have cost us around £1500 per week on loan. And we couldn’t afford to get him back.

I said yesterday that apart from the big stadium we have, which is like a noose around our neck in a way, the club is League 2/Non league at best at the moment. The infrastructure just isn’t there. I’m still worried we will do an Oldham yet.
The old club died that day we went into admin after beating Stoke 3 nil. That god awful day.
This is a completely different set up now…it really is. All that remains is the stadium, and the 8/9 thousand die-hards. We could end up a big club in non league.

                        Mr Brownbill,

This summer will tell us all we need to know about Dansons intentions with us. Once that embargo is lifted, we will see by what activity we do in bringing players in. I’m talking realistic. If its all freebies and has beens and never will be types, you can write next season off as well. As it stands, we could even end up Lg2 next season yet. Maybe that is the real expectation and reasoning behind Stones loan to Oldham, to get him firing at a lower level.

It’s highly unlikely we will still have Tickle and Hughes next season, so we will be weaker still. Looks like they’re trying to ready Carragher for next season…obviously Morrison, Watts and Rekik won’t be here then either. If Tickle and Hughes do go, some of that money has to be used ro bring players in. But will it be? I’m not convinced.
And we will be lighter still by other players contracts ending…and no chance of renewing as we are desperate to get shut of their wages anyway.

It’s still a massive mess and there’s not enough clarity at all. I can just see another young side next season, minus Tickle and Hughes. If we don’t go down this season, it will be more likely next.
Danson needs to be careful because if its apparent we arent going to have a go at bringing players in when the embargo is lifted, I can see supporters holding off renewing Season Tickets or dropping off altogether.

A friend of mine went to his seat only to find someone in it and with an identical ticket.

                          How? Utter fucking shambles.

United fans also reckon loads of fakes and duplicates and more like 10,000 in the East stand. You couldnt see the steps.

Our club is a shambles behind the scenes, it really is. Ran on a bare minimum, no level of expectancy, just this kind of “be glad you have a club” narrative, which I’m sorry, but its getting old now, but they will stretch that as long as possible. Even if we drop into league 2…which is a possibility as I’ve no faith in these players or the manager. Shit players, shit tactics, shit football.

Get a grip and get things sorted. Oh and we may have had a 20+thousand crowd on the other might, but the whole giving them the East stand thing has probably lost us a few fans for good. Many were pissed off. Whether that’s 20 people or 200 people, it’s Latics support lost. For one greed game.

Agree with all that’s been said in this thread.
No chance of us offloading Wyke or Magennis and I will say something here about Wyke. His contract is up in June. I bet that towards the seasons end he announces he has decided to retire due to his health issues. Nobody else would touch him due to the risk. And Magennis? An absolute waste of a wage.

I also didn’t like Maloneys subs the other night. It was like we were just along for the night out, in a way. The Chaperone to Uniteds date, if you like.
It’s true Lang looked emotional as he stood on his own clapping the fans. He crouched down at one point, head in his hands. He’s been played out of position by Baloney all along…I dont see what the problem is? Does he just not rate him as a player? Well I don’t rate Maloney. I think he’s just a temporary fixture. His tactics are shite, his selections and subs, are shite too. He’s only here because of his history with us. Why do Latics always go for ex players or connections? No other club does it as much. To me he’s not the long term answer, but he’s an easy one for the chairman etc….
Oh and apparently we couldn’t afford the £1800 a week wage to bring Jensen Weir back in on loan. Truly, we are still in a bad mess, the infrastructure is still all over the place, no board, no Chief Executive, no scouting system. We are even making do with using physios and medical staff from the Rugby after Doc Tobin left.

We arent the club we used to be. At all.

Do what you want, but your forgetting how dire it had got when he was sacked.

And do managers not have a voice?

If I were a manager, I certainly would like to have the ultimate say on how long I have a player contracted for. Any manager should.

I bet Paul Jewell wouldn’t let others disctate how long contracts were to be, etc. No chance.

I have always said Leam was sacked too soon.

However, he is also the person who signed Magennis on a 3 yr deal at the age he is, on 6k a week.

So let’s not be looking through rose tinted glasses at him. He made mistakes too. His football style was dire… Kolo was an absolute disaster of an appointment. Maloney has a massive job on his hands..hes not going to get much of a break this summer with the job he has on.

I’ve not wanted to mention it out of decency, but I genuinely think its only a matter of time they announce that Wyke is calling it quits.
He mentioned months ago he has worries and doubts about playing on, could it happen again with having a wife and kids to think about. All very understandable. But if he’s doubts in the back of his mind, its a decision he has to make.
But its complicated. The insurance and payouts will have to be sorted out. I don’t know how Latics have been insuring him, itbmust be costing a fortune with the high risk. Or maybe they’ve stopped paying for him to be match insured? Hence he is being left out. I think the club are trying to cut spending, so its a possibility.

As cruel as it all is on Charlie, there are his 10k pw wages to consider. We are paying a lot of money out for nothing in return. It all needs sorting out quickly.
