Redface and his theme park football brand would a few points worse off if video refs were in operation eh?
Dont see he or his ilk shouting and protesting for them do we ?
I wonder why? :angry:It was very poor reffing without a doubt( not seen that before……….not!) but our defending was rubbish for their second goal and such a shame all the good work was undone in a few mad seconds. At least 3 players could have got tighter especially Diame who let their player dance through the midfield with space galore.
A good performance yes but how many times have we seen similar situations this season?Too many in my view!
Im a great believer in the video refs idea like they have in rugby league because these awful decisions could really cost the club at the season end.The Sunderland game at home sticks in my mind when Sunderland (non )footballer Bendtner fell over like a paper bag in the wind and the stupid ref that night gave them a free kick that the wind blew in on the stroke of half time.It ruined the game because up till then Latics had played well in dreadful conditions.
Video refs are he answer but wont happen-which is a shame!Always makes me laugh when i hear rentapundits on the radio and TV talking about ‘hotbeds of football’ like the north east and the south coast. The two areas put together couldnt muster the half the clubs in the north west.
Great to see old non league names doing well and good for the true hotbed of football the North west.
I see Chorley are also on a bit of a resurgance in the leagues below the Blue square and could make the play offs in the northern premier league.Always worth a visit to Chorley for a retro football experience and the fans are very passionate-went last season against Chester.
Chorley have a lot of links with latics as a fair few of our speccies support both clubs and we have a large following in the Chorley area.Just read in the Mirror today( first positive report i have read this season) that we are 2nd favourites to survive in fron of the others and Villa! The journo predicted we will stay up with 38 points and Bolton in front of us on 44-eh?
Massive game and no surprise it is on Sky.i did the predictor and had us staying up with 42 points which means i didnt do it properly.
I walked along the canal from Mayalls to the DW today, the rubbish, plastic bottles, dog turds in bags, blankets, carrier bags, you name it littered all along the canal towpath was a fecking disgrace.
What sort of scum lives in Wigan?
All the toe-rags and asbo wearers should be made to spend 10 hours a day cleaning every scrap of shite up!Good post and i agree with it but would you trust the sort of people you mention to carry out a responsible job such as this?
When i was a young unemployed male in my teens i took a temporary job for 12 months cleaning and improving the very stretches of canal you mention. The towpaths, fences, walls, gates and the trees were all tidied up and improved-indeed the path is still in excellent condition around the Appley Bridge to Gathurst stretch and used by many people today.A small wooded area was also planted beyond the Appley Bridge stretch and again is still used today.
They paid us £34 per week unemployment money and i worked four days a week for an extra £26 on top of this.I was out working and i could also attend job interviews and i began my career in financial services from this point and im still in the profession today.
I met some great people on this job and im still friends with some of them today. The value of all this far out weighed the cost of it to the state and i estimate that the entire cost of this project was no more than £150 grand.take away the benefits the lads would have claimed and this cost becomes far less.
There are loads of jobs like this that need doing and its about time this started again.
I look back and im very proud of the work we did to improve the leeds liverpool canal area-it was far better than lazing about all day-great times!Swansea 3
Norwich 0
WBA 1
Liverpool 0
Stoke 1
Chelsea 0
Man utd 0
Arsenal 0
Fulham 1
Newcastle 1
Blackburn 1
Wolves 331 points total-wont be enough and i have been optimistic with the above.
Hope im wrong!on for 34 points!
Great goal yesterday by Alcaraz and Caldwell is shaping up to be one of the contenders for player of the season-incredible!
Heart says 2-0 home win my head says 3-0 home defeat.
negative fact-we have only had one back to back sequence of wins since Roberto Martinez arrived West ham and Stoke 2010-11 – only 1 in 106 PL games so far!!!!
negative fact-our teams worst faults in my opinion is scoring goals and defending set pieces especially corners.Stoke unfortunately for the purists thrive in this area and our jittery back four will struggle again tomorrow if it goes to the form book. They also have probably the best striker outside of the top 5 and hes in form also.negative fact-1 win at home all season-embarrasing!
Negative fact-far far too much backslapping from the manager over the win at Liverpool(probably the worst Liverpool team in 40 odd years!)forget it only 3 points move on!
Positive fact-one defeat in 7-the corner will have be turned big time if we win tomorrow and i think we will stay up if we do win.
bricking it big time
Are you lawro ??
#
Wish i was mate-what a job he has eh?Heart says 2-0 home win my head says 3-0 home defeat.

Alan Hansen, Bill Shankly, Cilla Black, John Bishop, the Beatles, Rick Astley, Keith Chegwin, Ken Dodd, Les Dennis, Stevie Gerrard. Kenny Dalglish – can you hear me Kenny Dalglish? Your boys took one hell of a beating! Your boys took one hell of a beating! You forgot
Arthur Askey,Ricky Tomlinson,Stan Boardman,Jimmy Tarbuck,John Bishop,Billy Fury,Gerry marsden. You would think they have never seen sunshine before would you?
OK – I’ll rise to this one. I enjoy F1 and have been to GPs at Silverstone, Magny Cours and Spa.I wouldn’t describe myself as a “petrol head” and don’t really care what car you drive, or in fact would’nt know what it was even if you told me. I just enjoy being at GPs though (although I haven’t been for many years).
Please though don’t confuse F1 on TV, where you just boringly follow the lead car round the track for mile after mile, with actually being there.
Firstly the noise is something you could not believe. And then, being in one place throughout the race, means you see all the cars and drivers competing with each other way down the grid. There are some really good battles that never make the TV, in the same way as Darlington v Carlisle could be a stunning game, but will never take the place of a Man City v Fulham 0-0.
I don’t apologise for liking F1 – but please don’t criticise what you don’t like, and maybe don’t fully understand.
And finally, of course there’s always the chance to laugh at foreigners. One year when Damon Hill and Michael Schumaker were fighting for the title we were sat next to a group of Germans all proudly wearing T-shirts which proclaimed “Schumaker is over the Hill”. They obviously took this literally without realising the irony. Oh how we laughed. ;)
Good post Garswood-now crawling back under my stone :(
maybe the new petrol heads are like the skybees ( football fans who never go to premier league-we all know loads of these dont we?)and only watch it on telly. You’re being optimistic by predicting that we will only win our next game and last game out of the coming 13, I would hate to see your pessimistic version although I assume it would be a zero points tally from here on in.
Swansea 3
Norwich 0 (really?)
WBA 1 (really?)
Liverpool 0
Stoke 1 (really?)
Chelsea 0
Man utd 0
Arsenal 0
Fulham 1
Newcastle 1 (really?)
Blackburn 1 (really?)
Wolves 3Our home games are the key, Swansea, West Brom, Stoke, Newcastle and Wolves are the ones that could potentially save us. Though I do think we will get bonus points from the Pool, Man U, Chelsea and Arse games.
I think we could grab something from Norwich, Fulham and not even be worried about the Wolves games.Get your tin hat ready matey! Your not allowed to be optimistic about wigan!
By the suffering we are actually a point better off after that today.
Feels like coming out of a very dark tunnel-a win next week and could the impossible happen?
Bloody Latics eh?The sort of people who you get introduced to at parties and their first question is ” So what are you driving ? ” They are your Formula 1 / Top Gear boring petrol heads !! I fuckin hate driving these days and so I am fucked if I am gonna sit and watch some sad sap go round a track God knows how many times aided by thousands of pounds worth of computer equipment !!People who say “what are you driving?”(you should answer back “the missus every night are you?”) usually say that then tell you they own a Beemer to your dusty old astra.I encountered a tW@t like this in the gym once and he fitted the bill of the petrol ead totally.
Petrol heads eh???? what a bunch of w@nkers -no more to be said! -
