Alan Hansen, Bill Shankly, Cilla Black, John Bishop, the Beatles, Rick Astley, Keith Chegwin, Ken Dodd, Les Dennis, Stevie Gerrard. Kenny Dalglish – can you hear me Kenny Dalglish? Your boys took one hell of a beating! Your boys took one hell of a beating!
You forgot
Arthur Askey,Ricky Tomlinson,Stan Boardman,Jimmy Tarbuck,John Bishop,Billy Fury,Gerry marsden. You would think they have never seen sunshine before would you?
OK – I’ll rise to this one. I enjoy F1 and have been to GPs at Silverstone, Magny Cours and Spa.I wouldn’t describe myself as a “petrol head” and don’t really care what car you drive, or in fact would’nt know what it was even if you told me. I just enjoy being at GPs though (although I haven’t been for many years).
Please though don’t confuse F1 on TV, where you just boringly follow the lead car round the track for mile after mile, with actually being there.
Firstly the noise is something you could not believe. And then, being in one place throughout the race, means you see all the cars and drivers competing with each other way down the grid. There are some really good battles that never make the TV, in the same way as Darlington v Carlisle could be a stunning game, but will never take the place of a Man City v Fulham 0-0.
I don’t apologise for liking F1 – but please don’t criticise what you don’t like, and maybe don’t fully understand.
And finally, of course there’s always the chance to laugh at foreigners. One year when Damon Hill and Michael Schumaker were fighting for the title we were sat next to a group of Germans all proudly wearing T-shirts which proclaimed “Schumaker is over the Hill”. They obviously took this literally without realising the irony. Oh how we laughed. ;)
Good post Garswood-now crawling back under my stone :(
maybe the new petrol heads are like the skybees ( football fans who never go to premier league-we all know loads of these dont we?)and only watch it on telly. You’re being optimistic by predicting that we will only win our next game and last game out of the coming 13, I would hate to see your pessimistic version although I assume it would be a zero points tally from here on in.
Swansea 3
Norwich 0 (really?)
WBA 1 (really?)
Liverpool 0
Stoke 1 (really?)
Chelsea 0
Man utd 0
Arsenal 0
Fulham 1
Newcastle 1 (really?)
Blackburn 1 (really?)
Wolves 3Our home games are the key, Swansea, West Brom, Stoke, Newcastle and Wolves are the ones that could potentially save us. Though I do think we will get bonus points from the Pool, Man U, Chelsea and Arse games.
I think we could grab something from Norwich, Fulham and not even be worried about the Wolves games.Get your tin hat ready matey! Your not allowed to be optimistic about wigan!
By the suffering we are actually a point better off after that today.
Feels like coming out of a very dark tunnel-a win next week and could the impossible happen?
Bloody Latics eh?The sort of people who you get introduced to at parties and their first question is ” So what are you driving ? ” They are your Formula 1 / Top Gear boring petrol heads !! I fuckin hate driving these days and so I am fucked if I am gonna sit and watch some sad sap go round a track God knows how many times aided by thousands of pounds worth of computer equipment !!People who say “what are you driving?”(you should answer back “the missus every night are you?”) usually say that then tell you they own a Beemer to your dusty old astra.I encountered a tW@t like this in the gym once and he fitted the bill of the petrol ead totally.
Petrol heads eh???? what a bunch of w@nkers -no more to be said!remember people ‘supporting Nigel mansell years ago made me wonder do the fans have ‘offs’ before the races?
You could have Lewis Hamilton Hackers versus Jensen Button bushwackers-might make it more interesting. :lol:I knocked on a womens door last week and said “do you believe in free speech?” The women said yes so i said can i use your phone then.
Ken Goodwinpersonally i think Wolves are now doomed to relegation. I think this weeks incident for Muamba will impact on Bolton heavily. I cant see them getting over this and therefore regretably will leave them in trouble. I predict we will get a point at Anfield on saturday and we will beat Stoke the following week. this will lift us out of the bottom three and put added pressure on QPR who from all accounts are in player turmoil with Hughes’s approach. IF we can keep our heads above water and pick up some steady eddy points i think us spanking wolves at end of season will see us safe. i am of course very bias and in saying that, i think its about time we beat ManUtd aswell.
on a slightly serious note, in comparison to the football wolves play we are a far better outfit. we just need a bit of lady luck. we wont finish bottom. we just need to keep the other teams in our sights and not get stranded. i think 4 points over next two weeks will stand us well for the final push.[/quote
Love your optimism but the table doesnt lie especially at this time of year.
Blackburn are easily the best side of the bottom five with the underperforming QPR just behind them.I think they will beat Liverpool tonight to set up a tussle between them and Bolton for the final spot.
Sorry to be pessimistic but the worst faults in our team are goals scored and we havent got any quality in that department at this level at the moment. That situation has cost us numerous points this season and it annoys me that the points needed to stay up this year will probably be a record low.A bit of scouting and hunting out a striker last summer and in january even on loan could have meant things would have been so different.
The euphoria of staying up on 42 points and traeting it as a celebration meant jack all was done to improve the squad last summer. Why is everything going to change overnight?
I cant see us having enough but it is tragic as we really were only a couple of players short!id love to return to the south as it had a great atmosphere rather than rattle round the immense east stand.
Put the kids in the North and the rest of us in the south with the aways in the east if the crowds dip down.
Wonder what the season tickets will cost in the championship? We might think we have a few tough games (I think they all are!!!) but are they ‘on paper’ any worse than QPR’s?????QPR V Liverpool- Wed 21 Mar
Sunderland V QPR – Sat 24 Mar
QPR V Arsenal – Sat 31 Mar
Man Utd V QPR – Sun 8 Apr
QPR V Swansea – Wed 11 Apr
West Brom V QPR – Sat 14 Apr
QPR V Tottenham – Sat 21 Apr
Chelsea V QPR – Sun 29 Apr
QPR V Stoke – Sun 6 May
Man City V QPR – Sun 13 MayOn paper that run in looks awful but to be honest QPR have the best squad in the bottom 5 and i can see them turning a corner very soon.A few London derbies in there as well as trips to safe mediocre clubs like West Brom and Sunderland.Add to that their subbuteo ground that would put lower league players off and i reckon they will survive just.
A few of the clubs who are safe turn their eyes to the beach(aka West Brom satday) and switch off a bit.
Qpr and Blackburn to survive for me with Bolton running it close.
Us and Wolves down already regardless of maths! From what I heard, he was pretty much spot on Vince, just being honest, I lost some respect for him when he’d made up his mind to leave, because he thought he was better than he was, and that WBA was a big step up, he most likely went because they’d pay more money, did a good job overall here though eh?Whether he is spot on or not out of respect he shouldnt say it.
We as supporters all know what is wrong with the team and the faults without some dorky ex player almost gloating about it on TV.
He has really p/ssed me off! :angry:You’re being optimistic by predicting that we will only win our next game and last game out of the coming 13, I would hate to see your pessimistic version although I assume it would be a zero points tally from here on in.

I expect to beat Swansea as i think they are going to hit the skids a bit now and thewy look a bit soft on their travels.
Norwich though have been awesome at home,West Brom are bang in form and we havent beaten the non footballers of Sjoke city yet in the PL at home have we?
Newcastle are top six and look very strong this year and we have never won at Ewood park either-jinx ground.
I hope your right because i would hate to see us relegated but the table doent lie and our form has been dreadful this season.
Another encampment in the away teams half and again 2 points dropped.Feeble defending against a team that looked to have one eye on the beach and the prediction i made looks optimistic now.
That said a fine performance today and plenty of effort but no killer punch…..AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!my prediction is down to 29 points now and even that looks optimistic.
Good 2nd half yesterday but the damage has been done ages ago-they bollo noxed up not bringing a decent striker in back in august and we are dropping points every week.Forget survival its over as far as im concerned.
The team of a just one year ago would have easily beaten Norwich yesterday-how far have we fallen? :(
The fat lady is clearing her throat!who the fuck calls Wigan Athletic `the tics`??Always puzzled me that one.
Might have some something to do with word A-T-H-L-E-T-I-C :silly:
Ready for the lower divisions more like!
He has only won back to back on one occasion in 2 1/2 years so he and his team are going to have to get a rapid shift on to halt our inevitable relegation.
Should have been ‘ready’ months ago! -
