21 August 2011 at 2:39 pm in reply to: goosey boy? why the empty seats in a “staduim” no biggger?? #70248I will wind you up you cocky little twat, Why don’t you grow a brain and think for just a second. You can see how good the education is in Wigan these days. Thick little idiots like you with no prospects highlight it perfectly.
And there are no Blackpool’s making a flying start, Nor is there pressure of the West Ham’s or Birmingham’s big player pulling power shadowing over us this time. Long way to go. We know the games we are going to lose and the ones we have been predicted to lose we haven’t so far. This league is this season our best chance bar Jewell era of a good finish. If we are in the mix come May then i would agree it is not progress as i said last season. I still fully expect the 3 up to go down. QPR may just be having their honeymoon period and to be honest am expecting a 1-0 win next week or another draw, But hey that’s the fixtures we got and the likes of Sunderland and Everton don’t look all that good do they. I wouldn’t count Blackburn out of the drop but come January will probably buy there way to safety, However they could be another West Ham in the making, And then there are the usual nickable points against the Stoke’s and Bolton’s of this world. Next month is looking difficult but we could have 5 points on the board before Man City. I said 7 a week ago but still a vast improvement. It all happens after Christmas. If we have 25 points before then im delighted.

Are you all blind or can you not see there is no case for pointless arguing. Wigan Warriors are top of the league in a Challenge Cup final and are reigning champions. That means they are top of the dogs in the Rugby League world. Wigan Athletic compete in the top league of the biggest in the world with to be fair considerably more competition from other leagues. Two different sports, Two different fan bases, Two teams equally as passionate, Give it a rest for christ’s sake, It makes no sense to argue who has the most hundred fans every week. Maybe if people would stop arsing about annoying people about it both fixtures would have a full home attendance. The same applies to the Rugby lads too, I would agree they are worse for it and are more resentful that the Latics are competing at a top level and have taken some of the limelight.
Im a complete neutral, I love both and always have so i am not saying anything that is wrong. I hear what both set’s of fans say.
hits the bar and wins us a penalty………….. thats him in the team for next three matches then !!Just on the first part of your sentence, Is that not good enough to warrant it. Your ironic comment kind of bites you on the arse :snooty: :snooty:
Just on another note, Ben Watson looks as though he is going to be the first choice in the middle this season and i mark a considerable improvement in his set pieces (bar the poor penalty, think that is the first one he has missed though)
We try to play too many central midfield players who do the same job. Need someone in there with different attacking ideas.
Second half was ok, I said to my mate, There was plenty of attacking play and we had a good few scoring opportunities. We can all see what we need, That is another striker up front. The goal was beckoning at times and no-one there to stick it in.
To be honest compared to last season im delighted, At this stage last year we wre 0 points and -10 goal difference and lay down for a rimming, But now we are actually attacking teams. It’s quite encouraging, The goals will come i think, Just have to wait until the end of August because there will be a winger on his way, Just depends who. Moses looks good but another quick winger would make it better.
Could be worse we could be Everton.(may eat my words next week though   )
Buggered my prediction league score up that one did :? :?
We might win yet, They were always going to be up for it with it being their first game at home and all that. The premier league knew what they were doing when they put us up against the newly promoted sides. I will worry after the end of August if certain positions are not addressed. Should have been done 2 months ago really though. I don’t understand why wait until the last couple of weeks until trying to sign people. Makes no sense, It means until at least November for them to bed in. Identify the players and get em in early. Surely a better way of doing business.
Played well, had most shots in the league, looked quite gelled for the first game, Maybe a couple of suspect performances from our old friend Gomez and Lopez(first game) I was happy, Just unlucky and it was one of those things that we didn’t win. But i don’t think we should dwell on what could or maybe should have been as there is 2 winnable games coming up and the transfer window is still open. A week is a long time in football and i have a funny feeling there will be significant movement for us. If we were coming up against United and Chelsea next two games with one point on the board i may be a little more somber but by the time we meet Man City on the 10th of September we could have 7 points and be in the next round of the cup.
We know we need to improve on positions and i have more faith in Martinez and believe he learned a lot from last season. The two thirds of the season last term were woeful and he addressed the issue in the nick of time. He has more time, resources and a better squad to start with this time. I am feeling optimistic
A very interesting development, Seems to add a bit of weight and a bit more rumour to the claim. Something certainly does not add up.
Boselli is off the wage bill and 40k seems to be our top line budget, I’m sure Martinez wouldn’t have bid for him if he and Whelan did not know what he wanted.
Could be an interesting week, Maybe just maybe.
Would pee the West Brom fans off who laughed at us.
Surprisingly very accurate. Im guessing they got a Latics fan to answer those questions because i don’t know of any pundit to be so spot on. The little attentions to detail were far too observant for just a pundit/reporter.
Now now Standish, no need for insults on how my brain may work! It’s a debate where two points of view have been measured up.I must admit I’m in somewhat of a bear pit trying to act with morals and standards in respect to a game which has neither.
I’m debating with people who have a vested interest, a natural biased, I have neither. I don’t think you’d have the ability to strip yourself of this allegiance for a day and have a real conversation on the state of football. Unfortunately it’s not possible :P
Agreed to a certain point, I agree that the passion is fast disappearing and we as fans just watch now to amuse ourselves, The joy has been dragged out of the game now and only money matters in a world driven by rich people in positions of power. It was not so long ago when you could watch a game on a Saturday and one on a Sunday and have 22 players fighting to the death to get a result on part time wages. I do agree that the morals of the game have changed and not for the better, However i also believe that we have to just accept it won’t change and go back to the way it was and we just have to live with it. English Football is gearing up for a huge fall and it’s going to ruin the foundations that it is built on. Money and power it slowly killing it off and our league will be the first to pop. So many clubs are going bust and it’s only a matter of time before these investors bugger off to another country and leave all their debt to the respective clubs. Birmingham have just been screwed, and it’s happening more and more. This league is going to pop and it won’t be long.
Sun Tzu, Cracking horse that at lower class races, :P :P
Have to agree with young Griff here
Whelan will not pay a fee and a good 3 year contract for those kind of wages. He possibly could if he was in his early 20s but the fact he is nearly 30 means his days as a big money winger have gone and Big Dave won’t sign a player unless there is a chance of a profit at the end of it. Sad to say but a fact, Shoe string again by the looks of it.
Our best hope is a season long loan and maybe pay the full wage until his contract runs out and then he will move on somewhere else, Maybe West Ham or someone like that, Provided they come back up.
Please forgive me i have just been on newsnow, I have committed internet suicide i know but on there it says that he was training with us last week while city were on tour. Could be an interesting development. I wonder if it was verbally agreed that we would loan him but city are trying to ship him off permanently at the last minute.
Well if there was a prize for worst and most bland kit i think we have it nailed on. What a stupid idea having a darker blue for an away kit. Why not the white one, That actually looks good then use a black one for games against blackburn e.t.c. Cant see how we won’t clash with Everton and Chelsea
