Reserve team from all accounts.
12 July 2018 at 3:10 pm #170223Reserve team from all accounts.Bobby said he thought his players deserved to go out on a high so I suspect he will choose a fairly strong if not full strength team!
12 July 2018 at 3:37 pm #170224The biggest regret is that it was a missed opportunity. A favourable group draw and then playing the less fancied teams got us to the semi-final against a team we would have chosen to play.
I can’t see the likes of Germany, Brazil, Spain and Argentina being so bad at the next World Cup so even if this England team does develop in the next few years they will face much tougher opposition than was on show in this one.Correct Sammy. They led a very charmed life in Russia, getting to a semi final without meeting a team in the FIFA ranking top 15 apart from Belgium who beat them albeit being a meaningless game! France who are currently ranked 7th would have beat them comfortably in my opinion. It will be interesting to see what the team selections will be for the big 3rd place playoff![/quote]
And Germany finished bottom of their group and where beaten by Mexico ranked 16th, South Korea who aren’t in the top 50, and scraped a 95th minute win against Sweden ranked 25th.
I thought you’d have finished those sour grapes by now!
Fuck the EFL
12 July 2018 at 3:45 pm #170225A different view.Well done lads massively over achieved.Truth is probably the poorest set of players individually we have ever sent to a world cup but Southgate did a superb job working with what he had.We had an easy group followed by 2 games against average sides and our half of draw became winnable after early
exits of fancied teams. . Imperative to get the 2nd goal before h/t when that didn’t happen Modric and co took complete control and were comfortable winners.Still proud of our achievement and gave our nation some football pride back……now for the big step up…..have we really got the players though???12 July 2018 at 3:52 pm #170226Ps….watched the game in bar in the sun……full of Tottenham fans shouting come on you spurs whenever England advanced……dicks…..another West Ham 66 scenario if we’d have won it I guess!!!
12 July 2018 at 4:36 pm #170227Thats the problem with English sport. Far too parochial.
Leeds fans in rugby openly boo Wigan players and only cheer Leeds players.
12 July 2018 at 11:34 pm #170235The French are quietly going about their business and are my tip to do well.If it were on performances alone, then possibly Croatia should win itIt appears the Klumps supporter was correct. ;)

So you think Croatia will win it or ‘Should’ win it and France will do well! ;)

13 July 2018 at 9:20 pm #170243Imagine if Fat Sam had been in charge omg. Gareth has done a great job and I really hope he takes us forwardHe came up in conversation at work funnily enough dingle… General consensus was that if Fat Sam was still in charge he’d have been slaughtered by the media & fans. Nearly all our goals came from set pieces & we struggled to score in open play, but Southgate is adored at the moment?
Enjoyed the World Cup & it was nice to get a good run for a change.
14 July 2018 at 2:31 am #170248There was a lot of contributing factors that got us to the Semi Final but playing good flowing football wasn’t one of them.
An easy group, loss to Belgium, ranked teams going out opening the door, facing a poor Sweden and a Columbian team missing their star golden boot player.
I can only imagine that if we had of played Brazil they would have ripped us apart.
Was I proud of England?, Oh yes…did I think we could win it ? Oh no not after watching the style of football that I saw last season in League One.We all got wrapped up in the Southgate Love train moment and the euphoria within the country in the hope we could win it but when the facts n stats are put on a table to read our football was as p!ss p!ss poor as it can get for an England side.
This is the second tournament Kane and Ali under performed Kane going AWOL.
Harry Maguire was only topped by Sterling for the most touches in the oppostion box, 20 for Maguire 22 for Sterling and we only had 8 crosses in the whole tournament !.Harry Kane touched the ball 18 times in the box which doesn’t sound too bad till your hear that was after 8 hours of open play.
Rachfords stats stand up against anyone’s along with Loftus-Cheek both playing only a 3rd of what the rest played.
For me we progressed through to the semis on an unbelievable amount of luck but as for progress within the team and it’s style ?, We’ve gone backwards. Like you said, if fat Sam had of set his stall out like Southgate he would have been picking his P45 Monday that’s unless he had a lovely Wednesday waistcoat on.14 July 2018 at 12:58 pm #170249Absolutely spot on there fella.brilliantly put.well said.
14 July 2018 at 1:27 pm #170250Come on lads we did progress from other years. We beat Panama and Tunisia and a poor Sweden and got a draw out of Colombia. In other years we wouldn’t have beaten them or at least one of them. Potential for the future with the squad??? Very little, remember these so called youngsters are probably at the peak of their career and can’t get much better.
It’s a shame because it was nice to see the three lions moving through the comp but for us to challenge again we need a major restructuring of the Premier League which was set up after Italia 90 to improve England’s chances. How we can do that and whether there is the will to do that for England is another thing but start soon by limiting the numbers of overseas players to 5 per club. That could help.14 July 2018 at 1:35 pm #170251We had a easiest run in than expected yeah over seaseas players should be restricted. But like other things things money folk see to have their say .brexit for one.lol.
14 July 2018 at 1:50 pm #170253I don’t see what Latics playing in a crap League one last season has to do with if we would win the World Cup.
That said, it didn’t stop us having good celebration at Doncaster when we won the league last season, crap league or not we can only play whose in front of us, England didn’t choose who they had to play that was down to the draw for the groups.
Fuck the EFL
