Can someone explain to me how the hell their number 5 didn’t get sent off. Ok he got away with a yellow for the head butt but it seemed that every time an English player went down in the second half he was the culprit. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many fouls given against one player.

We got through and that’s great but the forward line was non existent last night and I just don’t see how we can win it against a team that has goals in them. Sterling has to make way next game every promising attack breaks down when he gets the ball.

      Spot on !

Thought Lingard was poor as well last night, but he has more in the bank than Sterling…….Alli was pretty ineffective but to be fair he doesn’t seem close to 100% fit

The nastiest side in the comp them lot last night an absolute disgrace!

A shite American referee that bottled it showing no authority, an injury time kick in the teeth and we still got through, it wasnt the best game in the World Cup, i think it was a case of horses for courses in that one and it paid off.

Should see a better game in the Quarter final…..Well done lads!

Oh and Loftus Cheek in for that pudding Sterling against Sweden.

        Fuck the EFL

Columbia’s game plan was centred around niggling and agitating, in the hope that they could provoke a Beckham-style response and then play against 10 men. Sweden wont have that approach, which is good to see, but they will try and frustrate and bore us to submission.

I agree with the comments about Sterling – for me he is the one player who I would say is modelled on the “golden generation” that failed so spectacularly in 2006 and 2010. Loftus-Cheek offers us far more.

Roll on 3pm Saturday – the cider is in the fridge already!

Sweden will be tough to break down. They look a bit like Shrewsbury did with a solid 442 that they stick to religously.

Think it will be another frustrating afternoon but we should win the game.

In all of my years watching football, i dont think i have ever seen the so-called “tactics” employed by columbia last night.

Those of us older in the tooth have ‘black and white’ memories of Man Utd’s Inter continental two leg game against Argentina’s Estudiantes, in 1968.

Now they were a revolting shower of bar stewards

What a performance im starting to believe C, Mon boys.

It was a superb performance from start to finish. The other night against columbia, i was a bag of nerves from 1st minute to last. I was so calm all match today – even when sweden had their moments.

              Well done lads indeed.

Enjoyed it while it lasted, but must admit the best team won on the night, i knew we would rue those first half missed chances.

Anyway proud of the England lads, not many had much hope a month ago, also some good individual performances throughout the tournament but once again it wasn’t to be, never been a fan of Gareth Southgate but he did us proud in the competition, so well done to him.

We move on, well done lads (Raheem Sterling excluded, useless pudding)

Good luck to Croatia in the final!

Best team certainly won Bullitt, we blew it we had them on the ropes in the first half and Croatia looked terrified every time we was in their half. For some bizarre reason we slowed the game right down and let the Croats take control and Moderic doesn’t need any help in how to boss a midfield battle. Yet again we created next to nothing in open play and Kane, Lindgard and Alli looked like they were carrying a fridge around on their backs. Been great fun apart from last night but in Southgate and the players we trust to put it right in the Euros. Well done to the whole party.

The biggest regret is that it was a missed opportunity. A favourable group draw and then playing the less fancied teams got us to the semi-final against a team we would have chosen to play.
I can’t see the likes of Germany, Brazil, Spain and Argentina being so bad at the next World Cup so even if this England team does develop in the next few years they will face much tougher opposition than was on show in this one.

Correct Sammy. They led a very charmed life in Russia, getting to a semi final without meeting a team in the FIFA ranking top 15 apart from Belgium who beat them albeit being a meaningless game! France who are currently ranked 7th would have beat them comfortably in my opinion. It will be interesting to see what the team selections will be for the big 3rd place playoff!
