Think Shaun MacDonald has been harshly treated but maybe his injury has had more effect than we know about.

Grigg needs service into him or he is a passenger.

I agree you pick your best XI but you pick your best XI based on the tactics and style of play you are looking to play.

As we have no wingers and are playing more direct, Grigg isn’t our best striker for that role.

I’d like to see him play iff of Vaughan or Garner though as I’ve said before.

cook doesn’t seam to have a problem playing Windass close to Garner in a sort of two up front role yet won’t do the same with Grigg who is twice the player Windass is.

I think he is supposed to be playing the Nick Powell role.

If Will goes for the sort of money we have been hearing about this will single handedly be the most crazy sale in our history.
Hoping that if this happens it will create the biggest backlash from the fans we have seen since the days of Bill Kenyon.
He isnt the best striker we have ever had but he is the best we have now and for the sort of cash quoted for a proven goalscorer we should be asking WTF is going on and who TF are these faceless individuals running our club and managing the team.

          Not exactly faceless.

Griggs gone and Cook should follow for me. I’ve said it before, managers and players alike have levels. Cooks batting way above his level and slowly this season he has been found out bringing in players to play a style of football that fails miserably in the Championship.
Were’s the young exciting players, pace, trickery, something to make you sit up ?. Cook doesn’t like this he prefers strength, power, defend first (can’t get that right) score later, experience 30+ players.

Right now Cooks winging it, and the ghost owners are crossing thier fingers in the hope he saves us from the drop without the need for them to splash their HK dollar.

If he fails to keep us up ?, Well we have the perfect manager for League One. It’s a win win situation for the IEC whoever they be.
So far we have heard fook all from those above. Did I expect us to spend millions ? Certainly not but on the same token I didn’t expect Grigg to be sold in Jan while we hover above the drop and for reported peanuts.
I just hope he stops till at least the summer but his off’ing has only one person to blame

              Paul Cook no one else

              #175639

Some would argue that league 1 is Griggs level

Possibly but he scored a good goal and made an England full back look daft. And a couple for MK Dons against Utd in the EFL when getting service from Alli.
If you put him in the right positions and try get the ball to him he will score. If you lump it up in hope or worse leave him on the bench what do you expect ?.
Your argument is hypothetical were as with mine there’s glimpses of evidence from his past that there’s a good chance he can and remember, this is not the Prem.

                #175641

Not really hyperthetical when there are stats to back it up. I also wouldn’t say he made Walker look daft he just outpaced him (i suppose thats daft as grigg has no pace)

I do agree on the lack of service as ive said but cookie obviously feels nobody can give that to him

                #175642

Not picking Grigg just because Powell and Massey are injured is bordering on lunacy. Would Brazil have ever dropped Pele coz Rivelino and Jairzinho were unavailable. Of course not it would just weaken the side even more. Its a new one on me this excuse in 50 years watching football.

Cook has no style of football. Most managers have a way they like to play the game prime example been Martinez.
He asked players to play a certain way no matter what and if you came into the side you were coached to play that way or you didn’t get in, front to back 3 up front wide players etc…. Did I agree with it to be played for 90 minutes every game? no but at least he stuck to his guns and played a style he thought was the way football should be olayed.
Cook is the total opposite, he changes the style of football to suit the players who come in match by match which is utter madness. To drop your best forward at your club simply because others are injured just beggars belief.

Yes we have injuries but name me a club who isn’t in the same boat half way through the season but I bet they all don’t drop thier best players because others are injured then totally change tactics and style of play and formation line up.

This boils down to recruitment on Cooks part and simply asking players to play a slightly different waycbecause x-y-z is injured. With no style he changes tactics to suit.

Can you imagine Grigg in a side were they consentrate getting the ball to him in the box or threaded threw to him or even in a Martinez side of the past ?.
Listen, you can’t tell me Gibson can’t push a bit forward then have Naismith and hopefully Pilkington feeding Grigg wouldn’t get him goals.

Saying that, don’t be shocked if Leon Clarke doesn’t come back for another stint, he’s on the market looking for a club. He fits “The Cook Profile” perfect.
33…6ft+ hit it long to me , and has had more clubs than Captain Caveman.
And now were linked with Andy King. I can’t imagine what his wage demands will be. I’d like Cook to explain why MacDonald isn’t been utilised or is it because he didn’t bring him to the club. If it’s fitness I’d point out to him that Kings played zero Prem games Leicester this season.

Cook should be fookin concentrating on a fookin forward to replace Grigg who’s all but finalised a move to Sunderland

Agree with both sides. Changing our style has cost us massively but if not all your players are the same type of player then you have little choice really.

I think he should be preparing himself for the barrage on Saturday if Grigg goes and we fall behind. There’ll be 6000 or so home fans baying.
