Even worse, what if Grigg goes to Sunderland, they go up, we go down and Grigg scores double figures in thier promotion push.

Now that, would! drive fans insane

And what if he then fails at Sunderland next season in the Championship?

As Stu says, there is evidence to suggest he can’t do it at this level on a regular basis. Yes he scores the odd goal against City etc but his stats at this level don’t match those in League One. Is he lucky that he is in a good League One side and unlucky that he is in a crap Championship side?

Your point is, he can score in League One but that’s it ?. I don’t know if you’ve noticed he’s not been played plus lumping up to him and asking him to run from the half way line isn’t his game.
Is Garner or Vaughan a better forward ?. At this moment in time yes they are because:
We lump it up to them
          Thier both getting played

Im not saying Griggs Prem quality what I’m saying right now he’s the best forward we’ve got with no reason to sell. It’s not like we’re getting 2-3 million, were giving him away.
To say I’m not playing you because him and him are injured is just about the biggest load of bullcrap I have ever heard a manager come out with.
Please don’t tell me you think Garner and Vaughan are better goal scorers and can do it for us in the Championship ?.
Before you discount a player you’ve gotta give him a chance and play to his strengths, Cole and MacManaman been another 2.
Told you, 30+ 6ft….been around the block Leon Clarke, Darren Fletcher Andy King will make Cook sit up. 200k for Fox a player who’s 33 in May and out of contract in the summer fits Cooks profile. I bet the physio’s on O.T. next month
          And
There’s far more evidence to show that Cook can’t do it in the Championship, far more than Grigg

Never been given a chance in this league and he’s by far better than what we’ve got, Garner is shit Vaughan has his moments, no season ticket for me next year if he goes I feel that strongly about it, the youth players are better than Garner by far put them in.

Do Sunderland realise that if they buy Grigg they have to buy Powell Massey and Jacobs as well coz Grigg is apparently no good without them. Biggest load of bullshit I’ve ever heard and just watch him fly somewhere else. If we sell him and don’t bring in a replacement our goose will be Cookied.

If he had 6 months to go or had been given a fair crack of the whip and failed then yes time to go but that ain’t the case.
Same goes for Powell, whenever have we kept a high value player to run out his contract ?. My God, I can’t think of one Latics fan who would have complained if we had if sold him for £10 million last summer. Good player but the older he gets the u injuries will become more frequent.
Whelan would have told Sunderland were to go with the money thier offering and he would have flown the plane himself to take Powell to Brighton

I know 1 thing, Whelan would have told Sunderland were to go with the money thier offering and, he would have flown the plane himself to take Powell to Brighton for 10 million

Cobblers! There would have been a meltdown of biblical proportions and cries of lack of ambition.

He has played over 40 games and scored 8 goals, most of which have been from the spot. He didn’t score in about 20 games.

I do feel he will score goals at this level given the service but his record doesn’t actually suggest that, and in the current side he isn’t/won’t get the service so Cook has gone with another option. That doesn’t mean he wants to sell him or that he doesn’t like him.

Some would argue that league 1 is Griggs level

some would say that about our manager too.

Indeed and maybe it is but we probably won’t know until the end of the season.

There’s always an excuse made for Will Grigg; he’s not getting the service, were not playing to his strengths. He’s missed plenty of good goal scoring opportunities when he’s supposedly been provided with the right service but people turn a blind eye to that whilst other players are openly criticised for squandering similar chances.

Grigg is a good League One player and an average (if I’m being kind) Championship player. Grigg isn’t the answer to our problems and never will be at this level.

That’s your opinion based on Grigg missing a few chances as forwards do and sitting on the bench while Garner does his best to get sent off most games, ffs. If Grigg bagged every chance that came his way he’d be on about 7 goals due to the fact,

He doesn’t get played have you not noticed or are you too busy watch doc leaves float down the duggy

                              and

We create very little chances for him, if any

If he bagged everything that came his way he’d be in the Prem not Wigan.
get real m8, next you’ll be telling me Garners a better proposition to get us of the sh!t,

And that’s why players like Grigg leave clubs like Wigan when fans come out with crap like that, not good enough when not given a chance to prove different when club faces the drop.

Week by week we’ve got a point closer to the drop. I prefer the option that “we” get ourselves out of it and not rely on there been 3 teams worse than us.

Will Grigg is our best striker, end of.

Ok, if he isnt, who is then? I ask you that? Garner? Vaughan, who plays with his back to goal far too much?

There are goals in Grigg, always will be. The problem is how we play. He needs that supply line, and we arent playing like that. We get a decent striker here and we let them go…we did same with Waghorn, another who will always have goals in him.

I’ve no doubt Grigg is going, but for how much? 500k? Less? Thats a traversty. He’s still only 27 and with his reputation of what Sunderland are buying him for, a million wouldn’t have been unreasonable.

Unless Cook brings in someone who is a fit replacement, its a scandalous move, for me. He is our best striker, and if you want to do well, you dont get rid of your better players.
