Will Grigg is our best striker, end of.
Ok, if he isnt, who is then? I ask you that? Garner? Vaughan, who plays with his back to goal far too much?
There are goals in Grigg, always will be. The problem is how we play. He needs that supply line, and we arent playing like that. We get a decent striker here and we let them go…we did same with Waghorn, another who will always have goals in him.
I’ve no doubt Grigg is going, but for how much? 500k? Less? Thats a traversty. He’s still only 27 and with his reputation of what Sunderland are buying him for, a million wouldn’t have been unreasonable.
Unless Cook brings in someone who is a fit replacement, its a scandalous move, for me. He is our best striker, and if you want to do well, you dont get rid of your better players.

Any Wigan supporter who tries to justify the possible sale of Grigg for what looks like being a paltry sum must be devoid of any sense. Cook could have and should have played him recently but chose to side with his hoof ball signing.Should have been dismissed immediately he made the “Grigg waiting for Massey/Powell” utter tripe statement. As stated unless the club surprise us with a deadline day signing then Cook will carry this screw up like a lead weight round his neck and I’m sure the wrath if some fans will be there to see if we don’t start compiling some points.

Cook should’ve been sacked weeks ago, yet I do wonder if this wasn’t done because the not-so-new-by-now owners realised that had they brought Bruce, etc in, theyd have had to splash some cash, and knew theyd get away with not doing with the freebie and ‘jobs for the boys’ loving Cook.

Given their first major dealing in transfers will be to offload the clubs best striker, which looks to be followed by allowing Powell to leave for nothing, is absolutely scandalous. The two players we have with any kind of sell on ‘value’, and we will have got 500k or whatever. The rest of the squad are worth nothing, and when it gets to being like that, by christ, that’s a dangerous situation for a club that is struggling to get 8000 home fans on, with question marks over how long IEC will, if at all, be willing to cover the costs of wages and running the club, the same way Whelan did for 23 years. I can see some really hard times ahead, put it that way.
I honestly cant see that fans forum going ahead. If they do, it just shows how deluded they are that all is well. I think theyll have a real shock with the reception theyll get.
But as for now, I am really disenchanted. Unless Grigg goes and we replace him with someone who comes in with a pedigree and who can slip right into the team, as opposed to another ‘one for the future’ (what future? So unless we come out this transfer window at least on an even keel, in my opinion, I am going to vote by my feet and not turn up on Saturday. Theyll still include me, as a ST holder, like they have done for weeks with the increasing number of stayaways…its true. More and more empty seats every game, its plain to see.
And if Grigg goes to Sunderland, I wish him all the very best. Hope he scores for fun for that magnificent football club. They say you dont know what youve got, til you lose it…I think thats the case with Cook and Grigg. He’d be too stubborn to ever admit it though.

My gripe is the timing so hopefully the club see sense and realise we need everyone on board to get through the next few months.
