All the talk is hardly putting Grigg off his game at the moment is it?
I think it is one of those ‘appease the fans’ type of things. The Sunderland newspapers keep bringing it up to keep the fans on board and keep them excited as they have the prospect of losing Maja to deal with.

I have since been informed that because Cole has played for two clubs already this season, he can’t play for another club. As it was only an EFL Cup match and not a League match, does that count?
Cole is another of those Cook gems. Signed this time last season in readiness for the Championship. Couldnt get in Burtons side so sent back. Hardly brought back to replace Grigg.

Why would Cookie be so adamant Grigg is staying if there is a real chance of him going?. Surely it would make the gaffer look like an idiot. We,ve had it all before will Powell and he is still here and I fully expect Will to be here in February. We may have recalled Cole simply because he isn’t getting a run at Burton.
He probably wants the squad as deep as possible given the injury issues we have had so far this season.
