I agree on paying the going rate, but the club should be entitled to some of the profits in the same way a salesman gets commission.
For me….it’s easy.
Your profits come from the fact that such a fantastic facility can allow you to attract upto 25,000 people 14 times a season.
That’s a possible £8.75M at £25 a ticket, and that’s before any programmes sales, souvenirs etc or Cup matches and any end of season farces that you compete in.
The fact that in reality you are only averaging about 6,000 paying fans is of no concern to the landlord. A £600 per month rent or mortgage with a landlord or Building Society would still be £600 a month if someones income was £250 a week or £1000 a week.
Why you should have any profits on pies and beer etc, is franly clutching at straws and ridiculous.A good point horc, but would your landlord take 600 quid rent and then take another few quid from money you earned yourself?
Personally, I’m glad we still own the stadium. I trust he had good intentions but it’s a huge revenue stream if used right and I’d rather that’s coming to us than anyone else.
I presume egg will know more than most what actually went on with his WASC commitments but this doesn’t sound like someone who wanted the club to die
We also worked very hard to try to do something jointly to take over Wigan Athletic but Wigan Warriors and Lenagan’s don’t want to own a football club. That is not what we want to do. And neither do any of the other two people that I’ve mentioned earlier – Mike Danson and Darryl Eales. So, our view is simple. Wigan Athletic is better owned by a separate entity and we should share the stadium and co-operate together. We actually went to the point of offering to buy the stadium and the training ground in order to make the training ground available free of charge to Wigan Athletic, and to have rental the normal way, as we have had for so many years. And we nearly got there. But in the end, the administrator was just a pain, and it never came through.
Nothing in the spam bullitt BTW
Why would it be in spam?
The post went straight to review and no doubt pulled by admin, before my earlier post no one had commented for over two days, a bit more activity tonight, so bollocks to spam and reviews otherwise this site will die a death, up to you!
The layout is different and that is probably why I do not post as often but most threads end up in chaos anyway.
I think a few of my posts have vanished when I’ve read back too Egg then reappear. Thought I was going crazy
Can we get the tvs back on the concourse and quicker staff serving? Miss half the game and can’t even watch sky sports news why i’m waiting.
After starting the season with 6 players, finishing it with 25/26 is a great window.
Now we just have to find out if they’re any good.
He talks in that about wanting to buy the training ground and let us use it for free. Is that a sign Egg that the admins were being dicks with the sale and putting the price too high perhaps? Why would he need to do that?
I have nothing against him really and have onky ever heard him say positive things about us unlike previous regimes. No wonder he is annoyed though if the rent is going up but they still don’t make any money from drink sales. Who would sign up to that????
Could still be done with Saturday. Still in our hands.
Typical of us to take it to the bitter end though.
The best news I have heard for a long time.
There were some “fans” that gave in and not only should they be ashamed of themselves, but they should be told to f*** off and go ans support someone else. Thankfully, not everyone gave in.
Massive thank you to JayT, Egg and the rest of the committee of the supporters club, Lisa Nandy, the council and everyone else who stood up and made sure our club wouldn’t die.
They tried their best to kill us, but we have the last laugh as always.
Wigan Athletic 2 Stanley Choi and his mates 1.
Was that you on BBC JayT?
Real shame we can’t all celebrate at a game.
I don’t think the pitch is the issue, but we have seemed to play better away from home for some reason.
I doubt Ian Lenegan is doing anything to de-rail the bid. I’m sure he could have had the stadium by now if he wanted it.
Came across the game on youtube a few weeks ago. Not afraid to admit it brought a tear to the eye.
I appreciate they probably can’t tell us that.
Do we know if the supporters club have managed to negotiate anything with them?
Think I agree there Egg. I’m a bit nervous about the drop still so the more sides around hs the better, but if Wimbledon lose and then we beat them on Tuesday night, that could be the gap we need.
