Whelan did that with Michael Owen. Not a chance he would come to us then and there’s no chance at all of RVN going to Stoke. I’m as fed up with Whelan as the next person but that’s a cheap shot if ever there was one on here.
Gordon makes Kirkland look like the fittest keeper the league has ever seen. Must’ve played about 20 games in 2 seasons now. No thanks!
Obviously there’s more time in a 46-game season but that year we were never in any danger of going down.
A resounding ‘go’ from me. The state of the back 4 after being generally well organised last season is enough for me. Poor coaching has led to them having no organisation and a keeper who has regressed under a new gk coach (add to his now more frequent injuries).
Now chuck in signs of back-biting and player dissent amongst each other and towards the staff and we’re starting to see a recipe for disaster well in the making. I take on board everyone’s pleas for giving him money to spend but the culture in the club sounds like we’d need 10 new players, all who need to guarantee an improvement from the off in what we have and that just doesn’t happen.
I don’t think games in the Championship are as cheap as some think. Aren’t there still places charging upwards of £25 quid to get in?
In any case, although the quality hasn’t been the best in recent times, I don’t think I’d prefer to be back below the Prem on a long term basis, we hit the big time at exactly the right time for us. Those who have any doubts at the level of football you wish to watch, I’ve not been to a game since the West Ham win due to my broken leg so I’ve been stuck indoors watching all kinds of football from the SPL to League 2 and it’s dreadful. Give me the Prem any day.
