Two key moments link to James McArthur – his header at QPR and today’s shot, both at key moments in the game and we failed to take them. Very concerning that in 180 minutes we’ve looked lacking in confidence when we get to the box.

I didn’t think United had to work that hard today to be honest because we had no pace to our play. Too slow, laboured and McArthur at the moment is not as effective in the team as Jones has been (didn’t think I’d ever say that). My biggest worry about us, well two worries, is the front 2 combination has no understanding and relies on a fit Maloney to do all the real high quality stuff and secondly, pace. We have no pace to take advantage of any phases of play. No pace up front for the counter, no pace out wide to beat a man and no pace to break from midfield.

Is this for definite you can get them from their end tomorrow? Change of plans and can go now so need two tickets.

Its one of the big clubs out of the way. Better now than in the relegation dogfight to come.
Its only the 7th league defeat so far this season.
It was another chance to give Watson Jones and Gomez a run out.
It didnt put us in the bottom three.

Have to take issue with most of what you’ve said there.

Only’ our 7th? We’ve played 12 and only the bottom 3 have lost more/same games.

Giving Jones a run out in a league fixture is nothing short of ludicrous. It makes a mockery of the competition for places we allegedly have.

Recent performances (even Spurs) show we lack a hell of a lot of creativity/pace in the team. I question the desire of some of the players who know they will be picked every week regardless of their effort/performance. I’m not one for dropping players for a bad game but Beausajour is in a horrible run of form but who is there to replace him? Dave Jones! Franco has shown signs of an increase in petulence and is being shown up by Kone in how to lead the line at the moment. Maloney is another considerably way down on an acceptable level of performance.

Lots to be concerned about at the moment with the team and maybe it’s time Martinez tweaked the formation again as we are very predictable at the moment.

Tiote sits in the midfield, gives it to Ben Arfa and the rest bomb forward. Will be interesting how they cope if we press high up again and have our energy levels restored.

People having a go at Caldwell are missing the point. Why was sammon, our centre forward, ambling rather than busting a gut to get to the box??? Caldwell asks for the ball off Moses about ten yards out and doesn’t get it, has a hissy fit but carries on regardless to move and gets in space at the far post for the chance. The only clever movement in the box yesterday was by our CENTRE HALF!! It’s that what needs looking at, forwards do your JOB.

If there’s was any fault attributed to Caldwell he should’ve headed it back across goal. Can’t legislate for the decisions we’ve had today. Absolutely gutted. I think the last time I felt this bad was Gillingham at Wembley.

Problem is wasting money on expensive shit compared to cheap shit is still resulting in the same end product, shit!

Part of me just thinks Roberto can’t handle too many experienced older pros in a squad, regardless of his alleged recruitment policy.

He just said it was not what he’d been used to and it didn’t do any favours. Said two Swansea players he had ginned were surprised about how negative we were

In his usual way. The bloke was pushing him on how he could always make bad news sound good and that was his biggest gripe.

Lots of detailed answers and positivity and it’s a good job he clarified the bit about the atmosphere at home games that needed sorting out.

I’d say the guy sat at the front was as close as it got! We don’t score in 40% of games so that’s us not scoring in 4 or 5. I would say I’m part of the dark side but I came away from tonight just agreeing to disagree on some points.

It’s not quite as simple though. Alcaraz comes out to the ball when he realises what’s going on and then there’s a massive gap behind him. It still had to be finished but 30 seconds before half time you expect the team to do their jobs. The defensive positioning looks horrific when you see the options their centre half had but that’s more down to us not working from the front, probably at a time when Di Santo was still throwing a paddy on the right. I don’t think the defence actually did that bad yesterday.
