Just to put a few things straight it was more of a hypothetical point that if I was a defender at the club I’d be a bit upset to have a player of Gohouri’s ability in front of me. In fact I’d be annoyed to be the most senior outfield player at the club to be overlooked for any of the defenders we have. Boyce started back training w/b 2nd December and Roberto spoke about giving him a few weeks to settle back into training before he was available for selection, backed up by Boyce’s insistence he was looking forward to playing football from 9th December with his public announcement on Twitter that his little lad was doing fine.
In fairness I’m talking about him being sat on the bench against Sunderland and now yesterday and other games where we have him playing right wing-back when Stam is a far better proposition, you don’t want Boyce overlapping to whip crosses in he just isn’t good at it. So maybe I was wrong to single out Gohouri, I should have said the entire central defensive unit but if you want to bring in other factors and make it more personal like I’m having some sort of veiled attack on Boyce then you’re welcome to it.
Steady on. I’m talking about him not being used as a centre-half when he’s been sat on the bench. I’m fully aware of the recent goings on so wind your neck in.
Apologies, not got my specs on. She just mentions stuff on twitter about where are the players going to get their passion from. Stirring it a bit but if you’re Boyce and you’ve been here for 5 years and done very little wrong, you would be a bit miffed if Gohouri gets selected over you.
Good point, Gomez went straight down the tunnel, didn’t see the others. You can tell there’s no team spirit, Hugo gobs off at everyone after a goal, McCarthy points at everyone, McArthur was in Caldwell’s face for 30 yards after their goal on Monday, Boyce’s wife having a pop, list goes on.
I didn’t….but I didn’t come on here saying he must go…he is worst ever blah blah…So what you’re saying is no criticism towards the club is justified/allowed. Thanks for that.
and the above comes from a coaching team who aren’t aways UEFA Pro-Licence qualified. Roberto talks of 8 times to watch a game and find answers. I’ll give him the answer we are a bunch of bottlers who don’t work hard enough when they are on the pitch and that comes down to training methods. I remember some guy on that last meeting with the website editors getting a bit of ridicule about his question of ‘auditing trainiing methods’ well I don’t think he actually got the question right but he was probably alluding to this way of thinking.
You have to earn the right to play good football and we don’t.
What is the point in protesting and hurling abuse? I want Martinez to leave but there’s other ways to go about it without having some sort of public slanging match. For what it’s worth my enthusiasm has been sucked out of me when it comes to us at the moment. I have my season ticket, go to the odd away game when I can afford to and do my best to get behind the team but like I said the enjoyment (which I accept is certainly not a given) and the belief we can get out of this has simply vanished for me. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one for that.
I didn’t get the whole Boyce/Stam thing today. In that formation we rely on the wing backs to get the ball and deliver so why play Boyce there who is next to useless with the ball at his feet? He is still in my opinion our best centre half but Roberto obviously does not see his role there. I’m of the opinion that Roberto is in a wild panic and doesn’t have the necessary talent to arrest the slide.

I’m ticking over, awaiting the start of the new rugby season to distract me from these awful Saturday’s. Harsh on the dress sense and even more so on my drinking habits, Jack Daniel’s only! Are we to expect an influx of ex-Cockneylatic posters to make a return from their long sabbatical or what? Some of those names had me going back a few years on the other post!

Not a problem, the thread was set up very well and too many have flown in with two feet off the ground.
We can still get out of this. If Bolton win today we are 4 points from safety which doesn’t sound a lot but is over 1/4 of the points we have! I don’t know how we will get out of it though.
If I was to just accept the last few years and look forward to next season then I’ll find something else to do on a Saturday if that’s the case, put up the white flag while you’re at it. I give a shit and want us to get out of the mess we are in and it’s painfully frustrating to see the same mistakes made week after week. We have tried about 7 different defensive combinations and whichever one we play there are major mistakes made every game. That comes down to 2 things, bad management/coaching and rank bad signings again made by the manager.
