Thats quite funny that Mitty.
Gomez “The worst midfielder you have ever seen??”
That’s a bold statement. Is he really worse than say, Stefan Bidstrup or Alan McLoughlin even.
Granted, Caldwell has been outstanding recently, however none of our central back “3” closed their striker down for the first goal. In my book, that is bad defending. To be fair to the defence on this occasion we had a bunch of forwards and a midfield who let a centre half not known for his culture on the ball run 30 yards and pick a pass where hehad another 5 options on the go!
Away form better than home I wonder why …discussYou say that like our away form is bringing win after win!! Truth is we have a manager with a 24% win ratio and a team who have won 4 games all season. Yeah we’ll be alright winning 5 of our last 11 but that just isn’t likely is it, regardless of any positive or negative views on the current state. It’s not impossible but having won two games on the spin once in three years what’s the most likely outcome?
Where were the wingers to make it a traditional 4-4-2 then? Last time I checked Moses was on the bench and the midfield was Gomez, McArthur, McCarthy. Looked to me that everytime we set up we had 4 centre halves and wing backs, then we ended up with DI Santo throwing a hissy fit at being asked to play on the right with one up front.
Bugry
If Roberto is so in touch with the fans etc etc then why doesn’t he just let us know in some way why Diame wasn’t playing? It’s no big deal, just a simple word or two as to why our best player was missing.
Other reports suggested he priced himself out of talks and was happy to wait until summer. None of us know anything but it’s safe to say he won’t fire enough goals to save us if we don’t lock it up at the back.
Thrown the towel in, FFS we have had at least two bids accepted for players only to be shunned by them probably due to our current league position. What do you want Whelan to do kidnap um and let them loose once they have had a Latics kit forced on them.I was hoping like the rest of you that we might have had 3 or 4 new faces in today,as its turned out we have one but not lost anybody. That is one positive from this window, we could have easily lost a few of our key players but Whelan has backed his manager allowing him to keep hold of the likes of Moses, Diame and Mccarthy. goodpost
Fools Gold. There was never a chance of realistically losing any of those players and you know it. The depths we are going to look for positives sum up the whole preficament we are in. 6 is it transfer windows under Roberto’s stewardship and look where we are. How can there be any kind of positivity about losing no players from a set who have scraped 15 points in a season, won 1 home game in 11 and have scored the least goals in the country?!?!?! Madness.
The thing with letting him rot in the development squad Danny is why should the development squad players who no doubt love to play in the first team have him with them ? They have dreams of the big time so why have someone with his attitude with them ? May aswell rename it the lepper squad.I seem to remember when Chimbonda was playing up and everyone including the chairman said let him rot in the reserves. The same fans who then applauded him when he was on the bench at the start of the season
You just cant win in these situations
I get what you are saying but with the development squad we are probably talking players who will be released in the summer anyway. It’s not like we’ve any world-beaters knocking on the door. I’m just sick of the club showing a lack of backbone on issues like this. On one hand I’m thinking why cut off our nose to spite our face by not playing him but on the other I’m thinking bin him from the first team squad, he’s cost us a large amount of money that could’ve been used for re-invstment.
In total agreement about letting him rot and train with the ‘development squad’. If he had the opportunity to leave to allow us to get money and he hasn’t, then he shouldn’t play for us again.
We lost 3-1. Throw all the stats in the world at me, I only really care about the end result. We’ve spent years talking about not caring a jot about attendances and various other stats yet suddenly people jump to the defence of the club with, you guessed it, ‘stats’. I’ll keep turning up but I’m sick of ‘gallant’ effort from 2-0 down or whatever unassailable lead we find ourselves in.
We really are hanging on to the smallest crumbs of comfort. Bottom line is it wasn’t good enough with too many players going through the motions like their minds are elsewhere.
I don’t see him as a realistic target. Fortune was on loan at somewhere in the Championship recently so I’m resuming he is ready to leave.
So if it’s West Brom it’ll either be Marc Antoine Fortune or Simon Cox. Probably Fortune.
He isn’t signing apparently. Check the Mirror website around 11pm.
With a heavy heart, go.
