wooah !!!!
you certainly dont sound like a paid up supporter of the 1922 committee to me,
and if you are you certainly are one hell of a “devil’s advocate”.

Thank you very much indeed……………I’ll take a compliment however it is couched. ;)

Of course I recognize how important ‘Inner Detachment’ is as a tool in my daily life – it helps to keep a focused mind.*

*Disclaimer: however, not after having spent some time in the company of Saint Emilion (particularly a good 1995). ;)

MickyC, I wouldnt say you are thick at all, however you do seem to have missed the grasp of basic economics.

When the labour government spent all the gold reserves, year after year spent more than they took in, and obstructively spent every last penny this country had before they left power. How indeed do you expect us not to end up like the Greece’s off this world. We have to cut spending and bring this debt mountain down quickly.

I suspect political views of the tories probably cloud your vision, but to continue spending would put us in debt, to the tune of £20k per person and rising for the next 20 years.

So rather than blame the people who are trying to clean this mess up, you should focus on why this happened and how we can get out of it. The answer of Tax the bankers wont pay a fraction of the interest, these are huge numbers.

Mr Edinburgh, I normally applaud your musings on this board….mostly well-reasoned, presented and without bitterness. However, in this instance phrases with point, missed, country-mile all come to me.

First of all, ‘that’ post encompassed points other than the current economic state of this nation (or indeed how we arrived at it)……Sir, my command of ‘basic economics’ is far from lacking. Secondly, and this may surprise you, I am a conservative (always have been), however, I am not shy to play devil’s advocate from time to time. Thirdly, my point (tag line), which appears to have flown right past, was that ‘Change is not necessarily for the better’. I liked Mr Piemon’s analogy and was taken in by LMBs counter analogy (which was also quite topical) but what swayed it for me was the inference in the first that mostly those wanting change want so because they are imbeciles who write without thought or substance (keyboard warriors per se) and said so in my closing paragraph.

I was rather hoping to ‘add’ to that conversation, using analogy and metaphor rather than turn it into a political debate (which has been done to death on here in the past)…………..my reference to Greece etc was to imply that there are at least three other ‘teams’ in this league that worse off than us (financially, managed, structured and with fans turning against the system –Blackburn/Sunderland).

I don’t expect everyone to ‘get me’, I can be a complicated soul, however, LMB, Griff, Mr Standish even young Yosser – and plenty more do. I just thought that I would clear that up for you.

Can you edit that please? It looks far too much like Spurs 9:1, to me :(
Although Spurs 9:1 was indeed prophetic I think you are confusing it with

Indeed, and after being replaced (ousted) by the popular revolt of the majority….and the also-rans, this country has found that the new stewardship has overseen the plunder of the public service (both jobs and soon to be pensions), the demise of public policing – and subsequent job losses, a ‘new’ defence review cutting our ability to defend ourselves in time of crisis – and subsequent job losses, the singlehanded dismantling of the eurofighter programme – and all the subsequent job losses attached to that, the introduction to us, imposition of Mr Michael Gove upon us and the subsequent and quantifiable drop in support for education particularly the incomprehensible rise in university tuition fees, the risible NHS reforms, more children falling into the ‘NEET’ group, inflation at over 5%……………..etc etc;

but at least there are three other countries (Greece, Italy and Spain) worse than us in this European premier league of countries.

…….change does not necessarily make it better.

Anyway, I prefer Mr Piemon’s analogy which focused more on unqualified buffoons with scant knowledge of their area under discussion making “subjective” and often offensive remarks in their crusade to pleasure themselves in their fantasy world of their own reflective consciousness.

But hey!……………..that’s just my opinion – I must be a bit thick.

when was that tv programme on – it sounds like it has more intrigue than ‘downton abbey’ ?

“scant knowledge of the area under discussion” you add

what area would that be ? the shambolic defending ?, impotent attack ? or laborious needless sideway passing ?

from where i sit, only one man seems to have scant knowledge of what is needed in those areas, but then again sitting bottom on 5 points with one fortuitous win under his belt and presiding over the worst start by any wigan athletic team since 1994/95 (17 years)- he deserves much better than long standing fans quetioning his ability – everybody keeps telling us doubters – its not his fault, he plays the correct way and give him time – so can someone please give me a rational reason for me to support this manager.
Again I feel saddened that you feel the need to take my comments so personally LMB – when I said “scant knowledge………” you appear to have taken it as a personal slight on your unswerving, fanatical and, if I may, somewhat obsessive crusade to have the manager removed from his position.

It was a generalisation of those others who write without thought, repeating ad nauseum the same old guff ……………your obsessive and rather neurotic vitriol is unquestionable.

“from where i sit……” – now would that be from a bench within the dressing room as he appears to have the full support of that dressing room? (thought not). However, I do understand that it is sometimes difficult to hear that support over the whinnying of a (high) horse.

I am not going to give explanation as to why you should support the manager (plenty before me already have), however, it is on record that like many, many others he has mine.

do you see any faults in Bob, Jay

at the meeting with the manager did you let him know of said faults?

Hey!…this is an internet board/forum – bad English is accepted (by some), however, talking out of your arris is considered a circus act rather than opinion.

You are a classic…….you asked the question then went on to ‘assume’ that a). Jason could be arsed responding to you and 2nd) that he saw any faults. What a mind reader you are……..

Oh!….Mind reading depends on a process called projection. You imagine that people feel the same way you do and react to things the same way you do. Therefore, you don’t watch or listen carefully enough to notice that they are actually different.

You are saying a lot of things, out of anger I suspect, to help build your own personal self esteem, however, you jump to conclusions that are true only for you, without checking whether they are true for those you feel as a threat to your own well being.

Hey!…get it off your chest youngster. Therapy comes in many modes. I feel your pain………..

I don’t really.

i didnt start any of the debate i responded to it, including anything about academia.

i dont make things up, Figueroa has played over 50 games for hondurous at centre back and that is HIS designated role in the team -ON THE LEFT SIDE – the same a alcaraz plays on the left of our centre pairing and caldwell plays on the right, do you comprehend ?

First of all I still believe you make lots of ‘stuff’ up to make your point/opinions/fantasy…..however, you need to Read My Post…..There is no such position as “Left Centre Back” – however you couch it…wherever they play….no matter how many times someone has played for his country……..no matter where Alcaraz plays……..and Caldwell does not play on the right (you mong)……..do YOU comprehend……moron

Some are claiming figueroa’s problems because he played in a position alien to him when this is in fact untrue. Who are claiming this then?….obviously another fantasy part of you x-box brain

why anyone need to bring up academic qualifications to justify their arguments on a football message board baffles me

Hey!……Call me old fashioned but it was YOU who brought the subject up, you idiot,

unless it comes with an offer of some help, if anyone needs any structural calculations for help with loadings on a window lintel or roof truss or hydraulic flow rates for pipe design i’m your man,

Now we know where your skills lie…..an odd jobber….!

but i would not state my qualifications for enabling me to carry out such a task, but if yourself or the person earlier said to me i can translate a document for you, they would earn my upmost respect, i dont need to be told “i hold a first in that subject” i would just assume that would be close to the mark anyway.

Never Assume anything becasue it makes an Ass……….those who know….. know

i have not only been schooled at the university of life University of Life….I can’t believe you believe in that…….oh dear!

some of it is formal as well but the former certainly gave me a little perspective in life.

your last point , no i am not and never have been a council worker, not that there is anything wrong with that, but if you used you 2:1 and read what i wrote you would see i said “i dont know about council owned”

However, …..skilled in the “how to play the system…I know what you are entitled to” area..

inside information is usually gained by working in a chosen field, perhaps like an estate agent or surveyor or by people who used the services of that type of professional body.

Not bad for a reactionist.

I do enjoy your thought process though….you have ambition and potential…….. ;)

He should have realised at Everton that Figgy is never a centre back.
We looked better after the break when he went to left back.
I would like to see Dave Jones get a run in the side at least he will bring a goal threat from midfield.
On the plus side Van Ahnolt looks to be a good player.

its funny that – during his 70 + international appearances for honduras figueroa has played most of the time at left centre back.

in fact some on here slating lopez, even suggested that he would be an ideal replacement in that position until alcaraz returns, the issue is not where in the side figueroa plays, it is the fact that he does at all.
What the F….. is a “Left Centre Back”? ……..FFS. Will you stop making things up to suit what is going on in your own world. Making things into BIG letters makes you look like a ‘green bus’ passenger. ;)

Hey!……why complain about those who ‘brag/celebrate’ about their qualifications…..? It is the uneducated (“I’ve been schooled at the university of life”) morons who show themselves up for who they are…..with similar comments.

Stifiling comments from people like yourself (allow me to make an assumption based on your last post) show yourself up for who you really are.

Your answer at No 4

”4…… see answer 1 -people who brag about there academic prowess tend to exaggerate a little.(tri-lingual in some cases)”
