Or planes even.
Beat me to it
Should it not be ‘planes?
Thank you Mr Northernpedantprimate. Yes, I’m sure it used to be ‘planes, but planes is now a word in its own right. :angry-soapbox:
Context Mr Walker….
Planes indeed is a word in its own right however,
‘planes and
planes
differ in so many ways……. I need not ask that you check it out.
Gentlemen please……
………he might just be just putting in a little revision for his woodwork ‘O’ level.
Dovetail joints are a b£gger to master you know.
Emile Heskey (England) 59 caps, 7 goals.
Rene Higuita (Colombia) 68 caps, 8 goals.
Jose Luis Chilavert (Paraguay) 74 caps, 8 goals.
Unlucky Emile, the other two are goalkeepers…
boll0cksNot very nice……..
edited for comedic effect……I think we knew what you meant
did you not read my post, hes going to arsenalYes; and you said quote:
“not really going arsenal”…………..what is there to misconstrue?
not really going arsenal and has apparantly had a medicalNote: time of night….
Note: nothing said on usual ‘NewsNow’ rumour control about him in a chippy in Sunderland.
Note: Daily Mirror (spit) have kept quiet (still don’t trust the date on top of that rag)
We need better than this fella………it’s late
He has Mr C, and thinking about it, I’m on a diet anyway.
:o
How long ’til you edit that one?
About 10 mins…. (Sounded wrong eh?)
Yep. And I’ve preserved it despite your edit. ;)
Why thank you Mr Northern…I may have missed that.
;)
I think the media played a good un to be fair. A lot happened yesterday and a lot was said. Most of what i said was out of anger and disappointment(spare of the moment stuff) and i was wrong i admit. I’m curious and anxious to see what his next moves are. I want to see his grand plan in action and his ideas of how we are going to take the next steps forward. Looks like those of you predicting he may have used the media to angle a better deal here and get what he wanted out of Whelan were correct. It looks increasingly like Dave is going to back him to the hilt, I just hope he does it with funds too and forgives him for Boselli. I said to my mate before i think we should be aiming for around a 14th place finish, But not a finish where we finish there and just avoid relegation because of a couple of end of season good results. I think now at the least we should be aiming at trying to finish around there but safe(ish) with around 5 games to go. Presumably the aim is a mid-table finish but in reality i think 14th is reasonable and would still be making progress and heading in the right direction.
There’s nothing quite like graciously admitting you are wrong.
First you jump the gun and slag him off for going to Brmingham. Then you blame the media for playing a good ‘un. You go on to say he’s played it to get more out of before finishing off by setting him a target for next season!
Mr Northern…in your graciousness you omitted this little nugget also:
I’m curious and anxious to see what his next moves are. I want to see his grand plan in action and his ideas of how we are going to take the next steps forward.
who on earth has he been watching over the past couple of years. I for one have kept up with what Mr Martinez’ moves are going to be…I fully understand his ‘grand plan’ (call me old fashioned but he has said it in plain English several times) and where we are going as a club and a team.
It’s hardly been rocket science…………but really a struggle for those with dark glasses on to fully comprehend. I have never said that I have been led by blind faith (I leave that to my beliefs and faith ) but I have taken the consideration to read, monitor, watch, listen, observe, research and more importantly support his ethos, style, ideas and (very importantly) his committement to us all.
I fully believe that this selfless act of loyalty will embrace all town folk and act as a timely reminder to all that we are progressive, we are a great team, we are a family and we are…………… Wigan Athletic.
It wasn’t meant to be a criticism of DW. It was a back handed compliment. Bobby having said no, it could all have been left and villa woudln’t be left with egg on their face. He has been a little cynical in “conducting himself properly” as he is the one who put it into the public domain (already knowing Bobby was not even going to talk to the). However, little wigan has been all over the press for the last 2 days so DW got what he wanted – and you have a point, he could be doing it to make the point.….and it was taken as a back handed compliment sir, I think Mr Garswood (academic that he is) just put it into words what we need to put out to the rest of the premiership i.e.
He is now able to hold up an example of (a) Villa making correct approaches, (b) himself acting reasonably and rationally in allowing discussions to take place (whether they did or not in the end is irrelevant), and finally (c) a manager who has not grabbed at a bigger purse but has acted honourably.
These words will become more pertinent as the year goes on.
Oh…and well said Mr Garswood.
Yes, now go and finish cooking my dinner.Mr Walker…….. I thought Griff had pulled the Friday night shift.
So…whilst remaining on the theme of the ‘old testament’ let’s examine:
Proverbs 29:7
Holloway? Seriously? If you want to see 4-3 defeats and go down then be my guest, I’d prefer less entertaining wins to be honest.
Bobby has never said he wants to leave, he’s received constant backing from Whelan even when many were slagging him off and he constantly talks of the next level and a long term future at Latics. I have no idea why on earth he’d want to leave and throw Whelan’s support in his face and the plans in the bin.
Holloway almost kept a very poor squad of mainly lower league players in the Prem. Martinez almost got a much superior squad with much more combined top level experience relegated. If Bobby was to leave, (and I hope he doesn’t) it would be interesting to see what Holloway could do with a better squad. And it would certainly be more entertaining than what Bobby has served up….
To be fair…we were a little like that in our first season. Remember the ‘dizzy heights’ we reached and were also considered the ‘darlings’…..running on adrenelin, guts and glory. That’s all Holloway was trying to achieve with his team, and to be honest they were only a game away from consolidating their own little ‘happy ever after’ story. Defoe scoring in the 87th minute, for me, relegated them……
You said “it would be interesting to see what Holloway could do with a better squad”….really, for me, doesn’t matter as it is the managers ethos that dictates the way the team play. All that would have happened is that he would have had a ‘better team’ playing GungHo football with the inevitable results to follow.
As for entertaining…..try watching it all the time; at least Mr Martinez’ style, ethos and determination is recognised widely by the majority of premiership managers – and to a certain extent the majority of other teams fans I have encountered and read blogs on.
To me….it seems that it is only the old ‘Sunday Leaguers’ who still hanker for the old tactics. All the top managers have moved on with their way of thinking, players they bring in and style of play. It’s time that we accept and embrace the change that is needed in order to be competitive in this league.
For me….exciting times ahead; I can’t wait.
Roll on the good times……… ;)
Seems to me that this article has been written by someone “in the know”, a Latics fan no less.
Now who do we know with Swiss connections?
Hmmm! Whatever happened to “Exotic” I wonder?
Maybe he still posts on here under a different name. Time to own up, chap! :shhh:Ah ha!……..I think it’s Sammy….in the Cockney Latic Room…with a cyber pen.
Is it you……….chap?
;)
How small’s our squad going to be now? Our 2 loaned players, De Ridder, Koumas, Pollitt and S Caldwell all gone with N’Zogbia and a few others probably on the way out …..
I have a funny feeling some of those players might be replaced. I could be wrong, and Roberto may field a team of eight each week, but I reckon he might just bring players in.
Think thats a good shout Standish, sounds like the lads getting abit flustered.
May I too register my good shout Mr Walker……..
I think fielding a team of eight each week will add a little spice to the season – and will certainly keep the other managers on their toes. ;)
My only interest in the game was seeing how Baines played, and I was pleased to see him do well.
It was also nice to see the Swiss left back again.
Reckon ar Reto’s done alreet . 8-)
I still feel we were wrong not to put in a bid for him….some had him slated, some thought not quite ready – but what they forget is that he was only 19/20 when he came to us (promising young player) and unfortunately wasn’t played as often as I would like to have seen.
You’re right…..every credit to the lad…. 8-)
