Really nice to meet you today.
I told you we would get something out of the game didn’t I!!!
….however, still didn’t play “Thornton Cleveleys”.
FACT.
;)
Have a plan and stick to it (old military adage) – awaits the ‘Galipoli’ brigade retorts (I’m ready).

I’m a traditionalist, so it’s the Somme for me.
Tin Hats all round then ‘ol bean….
I’ll get the cigars…………. ;)
He only said forty is the target because he’s a master of spin.Mr Walker…. and I remember you saying on here that 40 was the new 30…… ;)
maybe you deserve the acolade.
We have a club captain, Gary Caldwell don’t we?When he isn’t there, the manager has chosen recently to give it to N’Zogbia. Strange decision in my mind, but I don’t personally know and/or work with the players on a day to day basis. If ONLY we had someone in a position of authority who did.
As for McCarthy, just let him play football. He doesn’t need to be burdened with the captaincy and we don’t need him to have it.
Fair comment there Griff…..we do have a club captain in Gary Caldwell – there is no need, in my humble opinion, to start chopping and changing as ‘the wind blows’…..this is not Egypt – people power or fans force will not work. I’ve never been so embarassed as after watching an England (friendly) game when, after all the usual substitutions, there had been twelve captains on the night (alright that was an exageration but those who saw the game will remember that farce).

Further, again my opinion but one maybe shared by the musicians among us, our bands, guitar hero’s, Brian Ferry’s, David Bowie’s, Deep Purples and Black Sabbaths were all older than we were – or else we wouldn’t have listened………
It would be like asking Justin Bieber to host the NME awards and be taken seriosly by his peers – great at what he does, however……………
ps….Griff, just a quick ‘off topic’ question – How did VAT know that you were at a meeting (Let’s beat these horrible Redmen thread, page 2, Vat @ 5:49pm) when you hadn’t mentioned it at all previously in your ‘conversation’…….as you also confirmed that you had on (a 45 minuter) just after.
The power of ‘Remote Viewing’ perhaps…….. ;)
Aceface……………..condolences to the family but also to your son. First of all, by asking that you (an obvious friend, dad and confidante) to publish this on the forum shows that he too is grieving. It’s not true that such tragic things as this affect only the deceased, indeed those who are left behind will typically go through a number of stages as they too grieve – denial, anger, guilt and confusion; it will also include a protective wish to prove death was accidental, and, perhaps, depression and anxiety were parts brought into play.
We live in ‘testing’ times….more so (in my opinion) than the 30’s and post ‘Second Great War’ – it’s a four minute cauldron with deep demands – these then lead to social isolation…. unemployment…alcoholism….depression and the usual (and oh too familiar) drug abuse/dependency.
Your son, quite rightly, has highlighted to us that young men (more than women) are vulnerable – regardless of the outward bravado and do need protecting too. Give your lad a hug (manhug) and cherish his thoughtfulness – but – more importantly, encourage him to support those who lived around his friend, to be strong, to grieve and help them grieve…….with support and empathy.
Tom may have gone, but there are still lots of people who loved him left around.
Super post 63 and don’t worry about Natdan….he probably thinks Messi isn’t all that becuase he’s one footed.I too thought it was a good post…
….let down only by the CAPITALISATION emphasis….
I also enjoyed the ‘mimicking’ of other poster styles…for me it added a ‘Je ne sais quoi’.
Quality………………….I knew they would bring ‘something else to the table’
;)
Deary Deary ME!!!!!How many accounts as Dave geet
TTY…. in his haste to post, his fingers couldn’t keep up with his personal feelings. He meant to type:
Dreary Dreary ME!!!!!
Unnecessary use of CAPITAL letters and too many explanation marks – it’s a trait he cannot shake.
I await reasoned response/argument to my reply to the original post. I believe there are others here, too, who are a little ‘peeved’ about flippant, without substance, retorts thinking it’s balanced conversation.
Hey Ho!
;)
How good is his latest interview??http://www.wigantoday.net/sport/wigan-a … _1_2983547
He is bordering insanity. Fantastic little quotes like –
“What is important is that we know what we are doing in the short term and also the long term,”
“We have got clear ideas for both, which is why we have invested so much in young players who will benefit the club for many years”.
“Financially there is a huge difference between being in the Premier League and the Championship, and we are not contemplating anything other than getting the points we need from the next 14 games to make sure we stay up.
“Once we do that, we will get the rewards of investing in young players and on a style of play that is going to allow us to realise our ambitions.”
Young players? He whinges that Moses is like having a new player then doesnt play him. He rates Di Santo as one of the best young strikers around and doesnt play him until now that Boselli has seen the loser for what he is and asked to get out. He wont sign Al Habsi, and just wait until Villa have bought him, then say Kirkland coming back is like having a new keeper.
No doubt the usual suspects will tell us that “we have to get behind the team……blah blah” – too late for that.
Let’s have a look then…….
“What is important is that we know what we are doing in the short term and also the long term,”
It is important…..good business relies on having strategies for the ‘short term’ as well as the ‘long term’ This allows for stabilisation and growth – not really a ‘strategist’ are you?
“We have got clear ideas for both, which is why we have invested so much in young players who will benefit the club for many years”.
I, for one, am pleased to hear that the club does indeed have clear ideas for both long and short term – it shows to me that they are not just ‘winging it’ – further it confirms investment in our youth policy which will come to fruition in ‘the long term’
“Financially there is a huge difference between being in the Premier League and the Championship, and we are not contemplating anything other than getting the points we need from the next 14 games to make sure we stay up.
A little ‘NoShit Sherlock’ about the financial difference between the two leagues but he obviously had to make it for the ‘hard of understanding’ on here. Again, with his contemplation, he is concentrating on securing the points over the next 14 games to ensure we stay in the Priemier League.
“Once we do that, we will get the rewards of investing in young players and on a style of play that is going to allow us to realise our ambitions.”
Correct….the rewards of his planning, investment, youth policy and Priemier League status will help us to realise our ambitions
The rest of your post is pure conjecture…..you really don’t know any of that for a fact…..
……..just your humble opinion.
Oh! “we have to get behind the team tomorrow…. blah blah!”
;)
I suppose there’s no way to prove it either way, so believe what you want.
All I’ll say is that my name’s Peter and I live in Wigan – never Skem. But then I would say that if I was trying to cover myself.

Apropros nothing – what do you think of European football, particularly Eastern Europe like say, the Bundesliga or the Czech leagues? If this really is Dave, he’ll be w@nking into a bucket before the ink’s dry on the post.
For the record, I don’t think it is him.
For me it’s a win-win.
If it is him, then I look forward, again, to some rambling, controversial, overly lengthy and (unwittingly) funny posts – until the next break.
If not then Mr 63 has set a fairly high ‘personal bar’ with his opening post and should that be maintained then he will bring a bit more to the table.
Only time will tell………… ;)
I once had a Zippo Lita
;)
Welcome back Dave. Was it rent-a-friend who told you?:o
This weekend we can take our thoughts away from the league and look forward to a local derby in the cup. Was going to wait till Friday but got them before the game on Tuesday. Really glad I did because we’ve sold our initial allocation of 2,000 tickets out!
Should be great then, as I can’t imagine anyone from the ‘darkside’ buying one.
After all this ‘gumph’ on here over the past couple of days I can’t fookin wait to get behind the Latics with a couple of thousand like minded people.
Bring it on………….
Well Micky C sorry to rain on your Bob loving parade but I’m going Saturday and I’m sure plenty other members of the Dark Side are. We will be hoping our team stuff’s the Noblot barstewards. Our gripe is with the incompetent manager, but Wigan is still our team.
Come on Wigan.
I applaude your sentiment Hindley, however, you are not raining on my parade.
I find it a little hypocritacal sometimes of those (not necessarily you), who profess to be a self confessed paid up member of ‘the darkside’ coming out with statements like that; yet, vociferously slate the lack of desire, no heart, failure to get into position, can’t chase a second ball down, poor fitness levels, Hendry Thomas, Stam, Gomez blah…blah fookin blah then go on to say it’s all the managers fault but we still love the team.
I just wish, sometimes, that people would make their minds up.
Yes, sir, it is indeed your team (as well as those other couple of thousand who have already secured their tickets) however, …….and I don’t normally offer advice, those who come to boo, shout anti-martinez chants or slag off the players need to be aware of who they are standing among – those that follow through ‘thick and thin’.
Enjoy the game mate….I’m sure you will
…………….it’s going to be f£ckin electric.
;)
Just thought Id say ‘evening’ to one and all.Welcome chap…..
….now get yourself off to stores and draw your thick skin, sense of humour, flack jacket and extra large tin hat………
…….just in case. ;)
Of talking about this woeful excuse for a football club so im offski. Hope you all enjoy your debating. I will still read the posts but can’t be arsed replying any more, Nobody agrees with anybody and this club is dead. Long live pre-2007.
Goodbye and goodnight
See ya Dave :D
Lovin’ it…….
