The smart money’s got to be on Owen breaking his duck against us. Most players who haven’t scored for a while do against us.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the East stand full.
There are lies, damned lies and statistics. I’ve seen more than enough matches and match stats to realise that the stats tell half a story at best. Our finishing remains as woeful this season as it was last. If we’re playing with one up, we desperately need the midfield to chip in constantly. Yesterday was bitterly disappointing (including all the frigging roadworks I had to avoid), but I’m just hoping it was a one-off and that Bobby, and, more importantly, the team will learn and adapt.

All I know is that when we went down 1-0 at West Brom that day, there were no boos. There was singing, there was cheering, and, whether we had won the game or not, everyone was there to SUPPORT our team. As far as I’m concerned, if you’re capable of booing the team you supposedly love, then you’re not fit to wear those blue and white stripes. Two points. Some fans boo because of their passion for the club and a view that those wearing it aren’t doing as they should. It takes a lot to make me boo and I’ve done it perhaps twice in twenty years. I certainly wouldn’t do it after one match. Secondly, there will always be more atmosphere at an away ground, if only because a lot of the supporters are there for a day out and not just the football. Oh, a sub-point is that people want different things from a football game – some want to be singing and ch/jeering non-stop, others simply want to watch a game of football. Neither should be criticised for that.
I’d love to see our starting 11 go to the workplaces of every booer and boo them while they work!
Well, if I were paid 100 times a week what I’m on and I was not doing my job, it’s a cross I’d be happy to bear!
