We just have to make sure that we do a job on um, Uwe over to you son.

I thought you weren’t happy with Uwe’s choice.

But I’m not sure what you want him to change.

You’ve still got a few hours to give him the vital instructions.

That is the most pointless post in the history of forums.

Like every other post, it takes this thread one post further towards 1,000.

Fortune is a mobile player so, with him in the team, there is a very fluid formation.

Fortune may not be the goal scorer, but there is likely to be a chance for someone else, as there was for Gomez last night.

And Fortune does pose defenders some problems. He did win the penalty at the Etihad.

Redknapp claimed to have picked an attacking formation last night, with a striker – Austin – and two wingers – Hoilett and Morrison.

But they didn’t commit themselves to attack. They gave a very disciplined performance.

QPR have an enormous squad, so it’s difficult to predict their team on Monday. But if everybody recovers well, it could be very similar again.

Hopefully, QPR will come out more. A performance from Wigan similar to those at the Etihad or Wembley will give us a great chance. The challenge will be scoring a goal – we did have to rely on a penalty in each of those games.

    SHOCKING !!!!

Yes, the referee didn’t commit many fouls last night.

I hope the game on Monday will be decided by a good move or a moment of brilliance, rather than a mistake by a player or the referee.

Every Saturday, The Times Sport supplement has a column titled The Fink Tank, written by Danny Finkelstein. Formally known as Baron Finkelstein OBE, he is the Executive Editor of The Times and also Chief Leader Writer and a weekly political columnist.

His column is a statistical analysis of football performance, and today he has turned his attention to Premier League managers. He used the wage bill of each club to predict the number of points that it should win. The manager who exceeded his target by the most points to become “a very worthy winner” of Manager of the Year is Roberto Martinez.

Well done, Roberto! Second came Mauricio Pochettino and third Tony Pulis.

I heard he had a pop at Fortune today in training.

What – like so many of the posters here?

    Fuckin rubbish.

    Indeed.

At least we know Fortune is going to have a bad game, we don’t expect it from Maloney, Macmanaman, McCarthur, Perch, Beau [well maybe] I could go on, but the only one’s to come out with any credit tonight were Carson, Caldwell, Kiernan, Boyce and Gomez.

Guess what boys and girls, it was Rosler who picked Fortune over Waghorn and Maynard, shouldn’t he be getting the stick?.

Yes Fortune was shyte tonight, but so were a few others.

QPR done a good job on us tonight, it weren’t pretty, it weren’t edge of yer seat stuff, it was a bloody good job! :(

We are still in the tie and wouldn’t surprise me if we did um at their place.

We just have to make sure that we do a job on um, Uwe over to you son.

But why, in your opinion, did so many players have a bad game? Did they all just suffer an off night simultaneously?

Was the shape of the team wrong? Were QPR organised to counter our tactics? What changes to tactics or players might we have made at half time?

And what is the remedy? Or do you think that it is enough for Uwe to go into the dressing room and say, “Do a job on um!”? Answers before Monday night, please.

I expected God to show a little more understanding.

Caldwell took great responsibility, taking the ball forward or making forward passes.

We know Fortune is not a goal scorer, but he did his best to hold the ball up, something that Maynard and Waghorn cannot do.

Powell might have been a good substitute.

    From the BBC:

Top scorer Nick Powell (tonsillitis) is fit while Ali Al Habsi returns in goal ahead of second-choice stopper Scott Carson.

QPR will be without Assou-Ekotto after he returned to Tottenham. Ravel Morrison, Joey Barton and Richard Dunne are all available for selection.

    Jenas is out with a ruptured ACL. Redknapp still has an enormous squad to choose from – with many well-known names – so it’s difficult to predict QPR’s team for tonight. Perhaps;

    Green
    Simpson Onuoha Dunne Traore
    Carroll Benayoun Barton Morrison
    Hoilett Austin

Cash turnstiles will be open tonight for the East and South Stands.

We need a good crowd to cheer Wigan on!

I am in the west for tonight for the same reason

Good choice. Better to have the wind behind you.

No rain forecast between midday and midnight. I’ll be taking a coat all the same.

    A psychoanalyst speaks;

JR is in denial of a significant incident with an orange in his childhood. His need to show contempt for things of Spanish origin is clearly a response to this.
