Shakespeare – I know he was barred from Stratford.

And JR, I thought that we were still in the love-in phase, or has the ceasefire ended?

    “thick as pigshyte” Barnsley

This phrase, like so many we use today, derives from the plays of Shakespeare.

    King Henry the Fourth Part Two;

Doll Tearsheet – They say Pointz has a good wit.

Falstaff – He a good wit? hang him, baboon! his wit’s as thick as Tewkesbury mustard; there’s no more conceit in him than is in a mallet.

When it comes to insults, I think that Shakespeare still has the edge.

Tick Tock, Tick Tock; two more places to go !

This post is set to run !

    Next up Chelski.
Don’t think Bob’s new signings will save him. He could sign 10 strikers and still only play with one up front ( mind you, Lukaka is a good un ), Barry is pants and Macca is not as effective ( careful choice of word here ) as Fellani. So it’s bottom four on Saturday at 16:50pm
They do seem to be talking about the bottom four, don’t they?

LHL may have been wrong about Roberto and Everton but he was certainly right about the thread being set to run. On to 700!

    And congratulations, LostockHallLatic.

Your thread is now six months old, and still going strong!

It doesn’t seem to have paid off so far?

Look at the title of this thread. It prophesied that Roberto would take Everton into the bottom four. But just look where they are today!

    Are you a scouser?

you seem to know a lot about everton, well certainly more than you do about WAFC.
Perhaps I do know more about Roberto and Everton than some on this thread.

This is certainly the thread for ignorant posts. All contributions welcome.

In club competitions, UEFA weed out minor teams in the qualifying rounds. They should do the same in international competitions.

The smaller nations could be in a group of their own, where they could play teams of a similar standard.

The group winner could meet a runner up from a stronger league in a play off for a place in the later competition.

Everton Chief Executive Robert Elstone said: “The combination of exciting football, great results and a fair pricing policy means we are seeing more full houses, record half season ticket sales and a healthy increase in average attendance.”

Well, it’s likely to be via the play offs then.

    And Kenwright will have to keep his promise too;

Given Everton’s debts of around £45m, the assumption among Evertonians has been that the manager would only receive a portion of any players sales but the Chairman promised that should Fellaini move on, Martinez would get all of the proceeds to spend on new players.

“‘We are desperate to find new owners and new investment,” Kenwright continued, “but he will get support from everyone at the club and all the financial support — and by that I mean if he sells someone he won’t get 80 per cent of that he’ll get 100 per cent.

“Plus, he has a certain amount of money for the transfer window which David [Moyes] was going to have.”

That fund, enabled largely by the new television rights deals, is believed to be around £10m which, when added to any sale of Fellaini, would represent a substantial transfer kitty in excess of £30m for the new boss.

Meanwhile, Kenwright insists the search goes on for a buyer for Everton that can help the club compete more readily with the club’s better-endowed top-six rivals.

“There will be a lot of Evertonians out there asking, ‘Hold on a minute, where’s the billionaire?” he added.

“We’re still desperately looking for the billions but while you are doing that you have to try to keep going what we have established here.”

Yes, I wonder why Moyes couldn’t make any progress at Old Trafford.

Liverpool have recovered from a bad spell to resume a place in the top four.

    Keep those contributions coming in!

When City beat Cardiff City 4-2 on Saturday 18 January, they became the first team to reach 100 goals in the Premier League era before the end of January. They had won all their home league matches too.

Now the goals are drying up. Their last five games have produced just three goals. To be fair, they have played Chelsea twice and Barcelona, but their other opponents were Norwich and Stoke.

They have lost their unbeaten home record in the league to Chelsea and lost the home leg of their Champions League tie against Barcelona. Pellegrini is showing the strain.

Injuries have struck players down too. Aguero and Nastasic missed the game yesterday, and Jovetic came on and quickly went off with a strain.

The quadruple looks beyond their reach, and the treble may be too. Let’s see how they get on at Wembley next Sunday.
