We’re saving the goals for Barnsley!

Now Albert had heard about lions
How they were ferocious and wild
And to see Wallace lying so peaceful
Well… it didn’t seem right to the child.

So straight ‘way the brave little feller
Not showing a morsel of fear
Took ‘is stick with the ‘orse’s ‘ead ‘andle
And pushed it in Wallace’s ear!

You could see that the lion didn’t like it
For giving a kind of a roll
He pulled Albert inside the cage with ‘im
And swallowed the little lad… whole!

At quantum level things don’t exist as we know them

    Just like the Championship then.

[To be fair it would have been a reasonable question, no need for the last line.

To be fair, Lostock would have to tell us where and when Martinez said it. It would be a very strange thing for Martinez to say because he has already demonstrated that his style and philosophy do work in League One and the Championship.

After the defeat at Arsenal, he told Sky Sports, “The club is on a fantastic financial footing, we are stronger than ever in that respect, our football style and philosophy is something for the long term.”

But I haven’t time for any more looking back. I’m looking forward to Saturday.
I’m worried about Holt’s style and philosophy and whether he can last 90 minutes.

I’m not expecting the highs or lows that we experienced last season.

I hope that we will be a steady, top-half-of-the-table team who finish strongly, hopefully ending up in the top six.

I don’t want the Europa League to be a drain or a distraction.

I’ve got a taste for Wembley now, so another trip at the end of the season would be very welcome.

Signing a free agent is much cheaper than buying a player in contract. The player will more than likely remain on the same wage he was on previously (unless there is a bidding war for his signature) as clubs do their homework and the only difference is the signing on fee which tends to be slightly higher on an out of contract player. You’re still saving a lot of money though depending on the length of the players contract.

I’m sure that we will be paying Garcia rather more than Olympia did. Why else would he leave Honduras for Wigan?

    They ought to care now.

They will care when they are held responsible for a serious injury or, worse still, corporate manslaughter.

a very good signing free as well

There’s no great saving in buying a player on a free transfer. It eventually costs just as much as buying a contracted player.

Agents aren’t stupid! Instead of paying a transfer fee to the former club, the new club pays the money to the player in higher wages.

Fireworks and crowds obviously don’t go together.

18 Nov 1993 – A football fan was killed by a flare after last night’s World Cup qualifying match between Wales and Romania in Cardiff.

25 Feb 2013 – A 17-year-old Corinthians supporter has confessed that he set off a flare that killed a 14-year-old Bolivian boy in a Copa Libertadores match.

Wigan already have a significant Scottish contingent on their books – Maloney, McArthur, McCarthy, Caldwell and Fyvie. I wonder if they are watching someone at Dundee.

David Goodwillie is back at Dundee United, on loan from his disappointing move to Blackburn Rovers. He scored against Dunfermline last night – his first appearance since his return.

Celtic go through to the Champions League third qualifying round – with a tie against Elfsborg – by beating Cliftonville 5-0 on aggregate.

Linfield face Skoda Xanthi tomorrow, with a 1-0 lead from the first leg. The winners play either KR Reykjavik or Standard Liege

I’d be happy with a trip to Belgium. Standard’s great rivals Club Brugge are also in the Europa League and play either Slask Wroclaw or Rudar Pljevlja in the next round.

Oh dear! Prestatyn lost 5-0 in Croatia. Rijeka striker Leon Benko scored a hat-trick.

And let’s hope nobody savages Coyle if somebody else does leave Wigan.

Until you put that 35, I had another thought about this & was wondering if they were waiting to see if we won the Community Shield first .

Wigan; Second home of Wigan Athletic!

But perhaps they’re waiting to see how the Warriors do.

It was a little more exciting before the cup final – then there was the anticlimax of relegation.

What do you think the new signs should say?
