Thank f**k! goodpost
I’ve heard this rumour, my mate plays 4 wigan rugby and he text me asking is there were any rumours. He’s a proper rugby mon but not a football hater so may just be a wind up, we’ll see.
Ben Watson and Charkes N’Zogbia were the best players on the park last night.
The real criminals for me being Diame and Di Santo along with the majority of our defence.
At 2-1 Di Santo went through 1 on 1 and missed, Hugo missed the rebound then N’Zogbia went through with a weak finish.
If we got that 3rd goal it was game over.
I can’t remember the last penno we scored in the League. I know we’ve missed a couple (fairly) recently, Bosselli at West Ham and Rodders at Wolves, but can’t remember when we last scored.Probably my dementia again. Can someone remind me.
Hugo missed a penalty at Stoke last season as well as Wolves. Ben Watson scored one not long back at home to Swansea but in the league, think Jay is right, have to go way back to Hugo at home to Chelsea BUT when was the last before that? Zaki at Bolton?
12 November 2010 at 6:46 pm in reply to: Last Neet….WARNING, MAY CONTAIN PRAISE TO WAFC & BOB #50880Might I add that it was Thomas who got the ball taken off him day dreaming that led to Liverpool very nearly nicking it ! He played ok last night apart from that but I certainly wouldn’t say he is the most improved player ! In fact not too long back a few of us were suggesting that he is stealing a living !!
I thought is was Diame who lost the ball, not Thomas, in much the same way he did at Blackburn when Roberts scored.
You’re spot on, it was Diame both against Liverpool and at Blackburn. He works wonders in midfield momo but I can’t help but think he should be subbed after 60 mins every game as he seems to just go hiding and turn into a completely different player. Strange!
Hendry Thomas’ determination and overall work rate is 100% plus he’s improved his passing, he goes forward now as well as backwards and sideways.
11 November 2010 at 3:45 pm in reply to: Last Neet….WARNING, MAY CONTAIN PRAISE TO WAFC & BOB #50741We have been desperately unlucky and our own worst enemy this season.
We should have beat Sunderland although they did defend well in numbers, we needed to do better at home against ten men.
We threw away a 2-0 lead at Newcastle. Scored too early and didn’t defend well when called upon.
We should have beat Bolton at home although they were on a good run of form, throwing away a lead at home in the prem against rival opposition isn’t good.
A terrible decision cost us at Blackburn. N’zogbia’s goal was perfectly legal and at 1-0 (wigan) it could have been a totally different game.
We put in a fantastic performance last night and really should have beat Liverpool at home for the 2nd season running. We did almost throw it all away though when Gerrard tried to break the net rather than place his shot. Lucky!
All in all, our performances have been pretty good (excluding Blackpool, Chelsea in 2nd half and Fulham). If we would have won the games we should have we would be in the top half but that’s football for you.
P.S. Hendry Thomas for me is the most improved player i’ve seen in my time watching Wigan. Fantastic season so far, 1st name on team sheet!
And, all the players had….10 fingers. And the ref and linesman.Even more spookily, they all had 10 toes as well. Weird.
Nobody born in Bolton plays for either team then?
1. Paul Jewell
2. Crap
3. Everyone involved with the club (staff)
4. We paid £6m for him and he’ll be on around 20k a week (roughly). He’s paid to score goals so there’s no pressure in my opinion.
5. Too early to say really, in the world cup he looked very good. So far in a Wigan shirt he’s been poor.
6. Small town, in the middle of the likes of Liverpool, Utd, City, Everton, Bolton, Blackburn, etc (all bigger clubs than ourselves) + who wants to pay to watch a losing team who has a team full of players looking for their next move to a bigger club (using our club as a stepping stone to greater things).
7. Kirkland, Stam, S.Caldwell, Alcaraz, Figueroa, Diame, Thomas, McCarthy, N’Zogbia, Rodallega, Boselli
8. We will lose (more than likely). How many we lose by is the question but I would like us to at least score and would love to get anything from the game (a bit of luck would be nice).
It’s shut? Seriously?
I finish at half 4 today and was going to pay a visit as the opening times on the site say 9 till 5 weekdays.
I may have to give them a ring to confirm.
How hard can it be to go to the one in town instead?
Due to traffic I doubt i’ll make it before 5pm. I can get to robin park at 10 to 5 roughly from work but to get into town, park up and get to the shop before 5 would be near impossible. No bother, I can call in another time if they’re shut. It’s shut? Seriously?

I read today the players have been sending picture texts of champagne bottles to each other.
It said Villa stars but I would imagine these are the players such as Luke Young, Curtis Davies, Steve Sidwell, Nigel Reo-Coker, etc. The likes of who hardly featured under O’Neill.
I would take any/all of them players at Wigan providing the wage demands weren’t ott.
Strongest Line-Up – Judged on the fact i’ve not seen Stam play and how I believe Roberto will line up against Blackpool (providing we have the same squad we have at present):
Kirkland
Boyce
Gohouri
Alcaraz
FigueroaDiame
McCarthyN’Zogbia
Moses
RodallegaBosselli
Subs:
Al-Habsi
Stam
Watson
Gomez
McArthur
Thomas
ScotlandI thought the trialist (Sekou) had a very good game. Especially in the 1st half playing next to Diame (the 2 are very similar).
In the 2nd half he went a little quieter (fitness???) but managed the full 90 mins. Gomez looked half decent, Scotland looks slower and bigger than last season, keeper was ok (not much to do – had no chance with goal), the kids played well, Moses was a different class, the other trialist looked half decent, Bosselli should have scored but showed class, Boyce lead the team well and overall we did ok considering it was just a training exercise.
All I can think is 1 slip-up/mistake and he’ll have 30k mackems on his back. He folds under pressure and they’ll not give him a chance at Sunderland. Ex Newcastle flop playing in their team won’t go down well and god help him if he costs them a goal. I just can’t see it going well for him and personally, I think Sunderland will struggle next season and Bruce will be sacked before Christmas. Titus was a fan favorite here and we never got on his back when he slipped up. He had his own song and we were even talking about an England call up. I wish him all the best if he goes.
