I don’t expect anything, I am simply offering my opinion on what’s going on in the background .. possibly
Exactly, so we will see if he remains with us or accepts whats on offer from those, money talks ..
Such as… We offer him a new contract to match/better the terms they have offered him, if we want him to stay that badly.
“The game plan will be no different at home or away from home because we have got some really tough sides to play against and we have got to deal with football clubs that are throwing the best part of £20million of substitutes onto the pitch,” Joyce explained.
“That’s where we’re at, we’ve got to make sure we stop the opposition from playing in the best way that we can and limit their opportunities of scoring – which we did today – and then try and come up with ways that we can score goals to win games.
“We will approach the game no differently on Wednesday night, we will try and win the game in what we believe is the best way that we can go and do that.
I think one or two on these boards are blinded by Joyce’s bullshit!
I think The Egg was quoting Joyce and may not necessarily be his opinion ..
Could be that his aim is not to lose rather than playing to win until he can get his own players in in january that he thinks can play the way he wants us to … but thats not working either
I thought this subject was about our formation yeaterday …
Home to P.N.E.
My View of the game:
Yanick Ineffective until moved out left
Garbutt Ineffective at right back, looked completely lost and no interest
Perkins All over the place in their faces and did a great Phil Jones impression
Morgan Every time he gets the ball and has time I hold my breath
Gomez – Ineffective – what position was he actually playing ?
Power – Don’t see the point of playing him, Perkins and McDonald at the same time .
Tempo – far too slowOther than that, a lot of huff and puff but no end effort, maybe we had 2 or 3 shots at the most, which for a home game is pretty poor
Couldn’t see any real game plan other than to just huff and puff
Glad to get home
So this should explain a bit more how Joyce is picking his starting 11, simple really …

Warren Joyce says Will Grigg and Adam Le Fondre have ‘some work’ ahead of them to get back into the Wigan Athletic starting line-ups
The duo have been frustrated onlookers in recent weeks since Joyce took over, with Yanic Wildschut assuming central striking duties in each of the last two matches.Nick Powell supported Wildschut at Barnsley before picking up a hamstring injury, while Michael Jacobs stepped into the breach at Huddersfield on Monday night.
Indeed, Craig Davies came off the bench to replace Wildschut in both matches, with Grigg not even among the subs at the John Smith’s Stadium. Joyce says he’s been rewarding those who have impressed him most in training so far, although he assured both Grigg and Le Fondre they remain in his plans.“Those two are goal poachers, both goalscorers with tremendous records and good success during their careers,” recognised the Latics boss.“And they’ll certainly be used at this football club.
“I’ve got my own opinions on how near they are to being the best they can be physically as well, fitness-wise. “They’ve got some work to get themselves going, in my opinion. But they know they’re certainly of use, they’ve both got massive attributes.”
The absence of Grigg in particular has surprised many Latics fans, who saw him bang in 29 goals on the way to the League One Golden Boot last season. However, Joyce points to a number of factors that explain why he was omitted from the matchday squad on Monday night.“Will hadn’t trained for two or three days last week, and before that he was obviously away with Northern Ireland,” the Latics chief said. “He hasn’t really done a great deal – it’s a simple as that really.
“If I’m saying it’s important how players train and work every day, how they do the extra things…Craig Morgan, before he played against Barnsley, had been doing everything right, Kaiyne Woolery’s been doing everything right on the training ground, working really hard.“If you want to reward people for training hard, then you’ve got to do that.“You’ve got to do things from what you’ve seen in training, and give people a a chance.
“It’s the only way you’ll get everyone flat out. And if there’s a consistency in my views on that, you’ve got to be working your socks off in training, striving to improve, and then you’ll be rewarded for it and get your chance.”Joyce pointed to Nathan Byrne as a player in a similar boat, who had responded positively to the new regime.
With all the negative threads on this boaed recently everyone take a minute to reflect upon where we would be today if it wasnt for this great man. Take a bow Mr Whelan, you deserve this. Sorry I couldnt make it today.
I think Powell used to play as striker when at Man U reserves, and of course Joyce will have seen him play that position many times … lets give it a go..
Reminded me instantly of Baines. Seems very composed for such a young age and willing to get forward. seems a confident young man lets hope we can keep him few years and watch him develop then sell him on for a big price as per our operating policy.
It’s his first full day today, will we see a different team and different formation for Saturday or will he just stick with the same 11 as Cardiff.
I wonder who’s gona be his number 2.?
Has Gigg’s name all over it…
Adkins at 33-1 could be worth a trip to the bookies ..
3-0 ‘tics
fella will win the season ticket at the half time entertainment
Bitter will be back on
