I don’t give a shiite how many we have up front, stick 4 up there if you want.
Scoring is not the main problem its the Sunday league schoolboy defending that’s put us were were are.I can think of at least 6 games off the top of my head were we could have taken 3 points if it weren’t for the calamitous defending…

An out of shape Ridgewell is certainly not the answer

Thats a good bit of business, he ain’t getting any younger and to get more than you paid for him 3 & 1/2 years on is good business.

Now lets use the money well and sort those pumps out that produce that pish they try to pass off as lager oh and some wifi hotspots so I can stream the nags while they pretend to play football

I think the fee might be the stumbling block , , not half, I thought DW was banned ??? or did he send the price by racing pigeon ?
I like MacManaman, we wouldn’t have won the FA Cup without him, good luck to the lad.

The thing I find strange is why have 3 managers had to work with the same backroom squad and not been able to bring in their own team. A great number 2 can make a world of difference as we witnessed with PJ and Hutchings. Is it just coincidence that 3 guys seem to be sending us in the same direction in similar style and the new manager syndrome is not working here. If changes are to be made keep Malky and get shut of Barrow and his merry men and let the gaffer form his own support.

I believe there’s more to it than just the players, and a serious question, who would have scouted/chosen to sign both Riera & Delort ?. Someone must have seen them play before we paid good brass for the pair.
I mean we fought for 3 months to sign Delort so let that person put his hand up and pick up his P45.
Ridgewell signing was a waste of time, the guy has not trained or played for weeks n weeks over the Christmas period, he was just looking at getting fit and nothing else and and an earner along the way. From weeks out of football to a competitive match overnight was an injury just waiting to happen.
The comical thing is, the treatment tables filling up one by one but MacKay says he’ll be looking for a couple of more bodies in for cover. I’ve a feeling no ones told him yet how many’s in the squad or will that take too long going through all the names.

Let’s clear out the dead wood, let MacKay choose 2 or 3 new right hand men and knock this shower of shite into a winning side.

Let’s not split hairs hey Grandad, we were 3-1 down before we made our last sub, so why not hang on or even break the law and give him 1/2 an hr or is that asking far too much ?. I suppose it was a good learning curve for Cosgrove, finding out who sits near the windows on the coach and freezing his knackers off thinking I could do better.

I see where your coming from owd un whilst our defenders where shite and taking off an injured Ramis and replacing him with a striker would be a brilliant decision I trust your cv is in the post to the DW
When your 3-1 down you sometimes take a chance and go for it for it rather than tighten things up ….nout like holding on to a 3-1 loss.

Don’t miss your pill tray tonight grandad

When you are losing every week then you have to change something. We have a squad of around 30 players, enough for 3 teams but we hardly see 1/2 of them. How’s about making changes, try different combinations up front ? I see young Sam Cosgrove travelled down, cracking day out for him.
At 3-1 down with 25 to go why doesn’t the lad get 10-15mins ? naaaaa too hard to figure out that one. MacKay is going to turn out as good as Coyle,

probably not as a club or a player but as a fan I think it will. We might be in with a chance of winning a couple of games

This is what happens when your chairman gets it wrong not once, twice, but 3 times on the bonk. It’s very rare that when a new manager takes over results don’t improve even if only for a short period of time. Ours are actually getting worse, I hope we do go down then these players who get paid paid a small fortune are gone from the club and players who want to , yes want to play for Wigan come through the door.

They should be embarrassed putting their card in the cash machine the robbing feckers

Wolves interested in Delort, now wouldn’t that be funny if he paired up with Dicko and got a play-off place?.
I hope Delort does well for himself as he must be totally pissed off here

Oh dear, don’t tell me you’ve reverted to idiot mode over Christmas, too! And you were doing so well lately! ;)

Give over you big girls blouse, the lad asked a simple question and The Egg is the only one who has managed a sensible reply. That’s all that was needed, unless cup winners wanted to open it up a bit more. It was you I was about to congratulate on behaving better over the past week or so, but leopard and spots and all that I suppose. ;)

And Standish, “a nice little earner” is a common and well used turn of phrase that befits his current position. The same cannot be said about the other players you mentioned as, in my opinion, they will return to first team football, however, I believe that Caldwell has had his playing days here at the club and will not return to first team football. I have no proof of that, I have not spoken to anyone close to the club, I have not received a postcard from DW with that Post Script on the bottom – it is just my analysis of observations made since the season began.
I accept your clarification, but I disagree.

A ‘nice little earner’ is generally used to describe a lucrative venture of someone taking money from customers for a service or products.

So if he was charging people for coaching sessions then yes, but not if all he’s doing is fulfilling the part of his contract that he’s currently able to fulfil – ie. doing his job.

Caldwell was on the bench not so long ago – so I suspect he still has ambitions of playing.

Although if I’m wrong, surely all that’s happening is he’s being paid to be a coach rather than a plyer/coach?
correct , he ain’t playing and there’s no mention of him coming back in the near future. I bet there’s not many coaches on the money he’ll be drawing for training kids. If the injuries that bad that retire and concentrate on coaching.

Not a bad earner that, training the kids while still drawing a hefty wedge

Why is it an earner?

He’s either fulfilling part of the coaching role that come with his player/coach contract, or he’s doing it free of charge off his own back.
Key word “part” I would say he’s a player over coach so my question was , is he playing or what ?

Caldwell signed a one year contract with Wigan in July 2014. As part of the new agreement he was also given some coaching responsibilities.

July 2015 get rid time,
To be honest, I’d be surprised if you knew the finer details of the precise arrangement between the club and Caldwell. After all, you seem to know nothing about anything else.
