Looks like he won’t be wearing a Latics shirt for the next 12 months , serious knee injury. It might even finish him from the game
Holt wouldn’t have been capable of saving this sinking ship
And we will stop up after that ?, nil shots on goal and lose to the joint lowest scorers in the division, not once but twice in the matter of weeks.
Do we only bring midfielders on ? it’s time for Watson to move over and give Huws his chance.
We are destined to go down, this mess is irreversible in the short time we have.
I don’t know any details , I assumed he was in a vehicle which doesn’t seem to be the case. Sympathy ?, over his troubled past with alcohol and depression ?, yes… but drink driving none what so ever.
What fooks me off is all the “Hope you get better soon” messages, would it be the same if he had of killed someone while drink driving ??. I hope the press don’t forget, far too many celebs get away with drink driving too lightly. The same one’s who can afford to hire someone or taxi it around everywhere for the short period they are banned.
Hang him out to dry I say just like he wanted to do with Whelan over some half baked old mans comments.
Potentially one of the best players we have ever had but never quite reached that potential. However 5 million this day and age is peanuts so he is worth persevering with especially if played as an attacking winger overlapping with a right back pushing up field. Out left or deep in midfield or starving him of the ball won’t work.Just like a few other players at the club he doesn’t look too interested so on that note sell and move on . With over 30 players on the books it’s time to clear the decks. I can name at least 8 who should move over or on
When I heard the report about his accident one reporter said they were trying to figure out why he was on that road at that particular time which I thought sounded like a weird statement to come out with.
Now he was either back on the lash after just been charged and lost control or he’s tried to top himself in the car. I have no sympathy for drink drivers, if found guilty of drink driving it should be an automatic 5 year ban and 6 months in jail , period.
Glad to see he’s back at Wigan……..
injured
I don’t think we will beat the drop, the majority of the time we defend like school kids and couldn’t hit the side of a jumbo jet with a spacehopper. Beating a pish poor Leeds team doesn’t paint over the terrible individual performances we all witness week-in week-out.
I have seen worse teams of the years at Wigan but not many sides that lacked the gusto and passion the current crop of players lack. Bar the odd one the majority of the players look like they don’t wan’t to be here.
Off to charlton on loan maybe? Its in a few on line articles
Why not give him a run malky?Well I hope the lad does go on loan, gets the experience in English football and comes back full of goals.
Did both managers expect him to just slot into place ? new country, a new style of football. Even some big money signings take time to adjust, you only have to look at 1/2 the Spurs squad.
But why the panic ?? we’ll soon have Grant Holt back to fire us into the play-off’s. Were going with all old steady eddies it’s the safer bet for MacKay while the younger players, the one’s we spent alot of money on are left out to dry.
How are these players expected to improve ? for me 2 shit managers
I completely disagree.
Another manager would have us sailing up this league with this squad of players. It happens even to the worst teams, Brum were beaten by 8 one week under Clarke the week after they beat Watford, top of the league, under Rowett.
They’ve been completely negged out by the last couple of managers.
If we just sacked him now and got someone else we’d be mid table come May.
Right, I’ll humour you. For a bit. If neither Coyle, nor Rosler and now Mackay (with his extensive, lengthy tenure of all of 5 games) could get this bunch of players playing, why would someone else? 3 managers, 1 set of players. It’s the squad, not the managers that is the common denominator.
MacLean up front on his own does seem a strange choice, granted, but I can only assume Mackay doesn’t fancy any of the other strikers. In terms of that lone, hold-up role, I don’t see that Fortune has been doing too much wrong, personally.
I see your point and I agree, Fortune doesn’t do a 1/2 bad job. He’ll never get you 20 a season but he’s the type of player to hold and drag players out of position.I find it hard to believe that 2 managers back to back don’t fancy the role of 2 up front or a 4-4-1-1 is it a case of we simply have too many midfielders so pleasing all takes president or is it abit more to do with money and payments appearances etc…..
I would like to see Fortune with a forward to play off him, again my choice would be Waghorn/Fortune
I know everyone’s harking on about “NO FORWARD AGAIN ??” but if we can stop defending like an half pissed Sunday League team we just might beat the drop. We could have easily won 3 games out our last 10 1-0 if the team as a whole defended “as a team”.
Everytime a team attack regardless who they are I’m on pins waiting for a mistake. Perch on Saturday had no idea how to deal with the blonde lad rushin in on him everytime he was given the ball from Carson.
Boyce looked a shadow of himself resorting to the long punt up field rather than bringing the ball out.
I’ll say it and say it again !! 5 across the back , 3 centre halfs and stop leaking childish goals. Even without a forward and playing poor were still always likely to nick the odd goal here and there just like the Rotherham game.
I’m not harsed about pretty football just 3 points will do no matter how it comes but if we don’t sort the back line out nothing will stop us from going down.
We won’t stay up on goals scored that’s for sure, it will be goals not conceded 1 clean sheet in 10 just isn’t good enough.
Rotherham on the otherhand don’t score too many goals themselves. Before Saturday’s game the had only conceded 2 goals in their last 5 games with a couple of 0-0’s thrown in something we need to copy. When you play a 4-4-2 formation you should consider strikers in the starting lineup !! :silly:
Perhaps he thinks they’re not worth putting in and
And how would you know this if you don’t play them from the start ?, doesn’t a new manager mean a level playing field for all ? fresh start. There are lots of players who don’t light up the training pitch but prefer a competitive match to show their worth. Delort has had roughly 7 minutes of play under MacKay and Reira ?.
I personally think this has nothing to do with the player himself but more to do with money and bonuses/appearances etc. All will be revealed in the Jan window were at least 4-6 players will be gone and one or two unlikely faces as well.We should stop going on about the 1-2-3 or even none upfront debate, what about the defence ?? we’ve scored in 6 in our last 8 games but failed to keep a clean sheet in only 2. Some of the goals conceded would have been avoided over at Laithwaite park on a Saturday or a Sunday
I think the manager can make a good enough judgement about players he sees day in and day out on the training pitch. And, either way, it’s his choice.
As for the paragraph after that about money and bonuses, that’s some imagination you’ve got going on there.
So his judgement on playing Espinoza is a good one ? I think your imagination is on par with Pixar6-3-1 n stop fookin leaking goals I say !
Seems the papers might have it wrong, has he or hasn’t he ??
