Oh yeah……and Windass nets on debut
Playing in the number 10 position behind the striker. Now why as our player is he not playing there for us or why did Clown not play him there at all this season?
11,643.
He is shite but better than anyone else who have had the pretence to call themselves attacking midfielders this season. Definitely no worse but compared to the lightweight Lowe and the out of form Massey and Jacobs he is much better.
Naismith left, Pilks right and Windass behind Moore could surely have paid more dividends. Bloody Naismith has played anywhere but his position. Pilks?? Thats an enigma.Hurt.
Bunnymen.
If sheff wed ban him from taking set pieces, penalties and tell him dont go one on one against the keeper just run around and wave your arms then he will fit in.
Above his level in the championship I’d of sold him for 500K.Agree he is Naff but would have played him in attacking mid ahead of Lowe Massey Jacobs Roberts Williams or Dowell but Cooks the boss and a lot goes on that fans and supporters dont hear about.
There’s nothing like putting the new lads down before they’ve even put their shirt on. FFS give um a chance, although after today’s performance they might have to bide their time.Too right they will have to bide their time apart from the centre back. Eight defensive players worked well today so let’s carry that on at home next week. Sit back defend deep and hope a Knob End defender scores for us.
Bollocks to this 4-4-2 idea. 5-3-2-1 worked just fine today. A gamble but it worked.
When have our January signings ever made sense? We were making bonkers signings well before Cooks time.Unless these new lads are dynamite, I don’t see the point in having them. It just complicates team selection, makes it harder for our own talented youngsters to even get a seat on the bench, and, potentially disrupts the team spirit.
Unless we’re prioritising winning the u23 division?
Very good points Mr Edwards but this is Cook you’re talking about.
Gutted for the lad but given what happened at the end maybe not the end of the world.
At least we have a decent player still at the club and once his head is sorted can be a real help to the club going forward.
Time to close ranks and hope the two strikers Lowe and Moore carry on scoring.Typical Cook, the lad gets a 90th minute confidence boosting winner then he is benched for the next match with super Gav coming back in.[/quote]
Confidence booster or not the pair of them aren’t good enough and could lace Gary Teales boots between them.I’m seeing the points of both Donny & Brownbill here with this one. When I saw Garner coming on the other night, my initial thought was Moore off. But give credit to Cook, he went against his “stubbornness” & played them both together. And how effective did they look? As Brownbill states, it was Garner who provided the assist to enable us to go on & win the game. With an extra striker signed to provide cover, I too feel we could give this a go & play the 2 of them together.I know earlier I said play Pilks in the CAM position. But scrap that & let’s go for it. Oh! & add in the same fight that the lads showed in the 2nd half the other night, & who knows!!
Then a long ball into the box to a striker who wins it in the air and a great team goal put away well by an unmarked Lowe with a speculative header.
1,2,3 goal.Jesus Christ Donny lad. We’ve all said that our strikers are crap and we don’t score many goals. We bring in a striker and you moan.We clearly play with wingers because we all moan every week at Massey and Lowe playing. Because they don’t take their man on and blaze a cross into the South/North stand ala Gary Teale doesn’t mean they aren’t wingers.
Windass showed in his few games that he most definitely isn’t a striker which is the position he wants to play and is why he left Rangers. His attitude is apparently poor (probably listens too much to his dad) around the place which is why he has been dropped multiple times so given the fight we are in we need people all pulling in the same direction.
As you say…we needed the defender for cover if nothing else and we still have Robinson lets just hope his head is in the right place.
We have filled the two main spots we needed to, hooefully Dobre is capable of a decent final ball unlike Massey, Lowe and Jacobs. Nobody trusted Cook with any money and we haven’t given him any, and loans seem to be the order of the day in this window, fingers crossed we have got the right people in. I never feel too confident about our business because it never goes the way I expect but at least we’ve addressed the issues.
We have two perfectly good strikers who can score goals but won’t play them together.
There is no way can any of that shit load like Massey Lowe or Jacobs are played as out and out wingers either.
Any striker in the land would struggle with Lowe Massey Jacobs and co.behind them.
Give our own young bloods a go ahead of keeping other clubs youngsters happy. So we lose Josh who should have been playing ahead of any of our hopeless attacking mids, bring in a striker when we have two plus our own youngsters but Cook only plays with one striker. Bring in a young winger when Cook doesnt play with wingers again to leave our own youngsters out.
Probably only the defender needed. Three loanees all signed at the death all managed medicals I presume.
All very uninspiring.Quiet is good really, although the Robinson money would have been handy to pay Cook off.
A few people probably passed him in the corridor like he wasn’t there and he was in completely the wrong place and they realised he can’t defend for toffee.Barcelona may have gazumped them.
