Hello and yes I could log in. It wouldn’t let me post anything intelligent though.
Hello and yes I’ve logged in. All we need now is some football to talk about, when its safe to play.
If we are still around, a lot will be thanks to our owners
Me too
That Blackpool game was the one I got stretchered off after being pushed down the town end terrace and doing my ankle ligaments. Never saw the resulting penalty that caused the crowd surge that did for me lol.
Good old Nuneaton, taking one for the team!
I don’t mind losing if it’s fair and square.
Losing to Arsenal after the Heskey penalty wasn’t given was a low, made worse by their disgusting gloating fans at the end.5 alternative happy days
1. Blackpool in 79/80 FA cup replay. Didn’t get in until half time as there were 14k trying to get in. Cracking atmosphere as two second half goals won us the tie.
2. Chelsea in 81/82 league cup. Our first meeting with the Merry Londoners and we murdered them 4-2 with Mark Wignall scoring his only goals for the club.
3. Mansfield 81/82. Clinched our first promotion in front of the tv cameras as an Eamon O’Keefe hatrick gave us a 3-1 win. Probably my favourite pitch invasion.
4. Mansfield 84/85 FRT. Two very tense hours spent in the drizzle watching a mud bath of a game. Roy Tunks was the hero as he was unbeatable in the penalty shootout to take us to Wembley.
5. Blackburn 84/85 Manx cup final. Blackburn were a league above but deservedly beaten by our young team on a balmy hot summer evening. Weird Colin Methven scored the winner with a diving header. This was the first time I’d actually seen us lift a trophy!
That’s an astute call with Shearer, was he related to Alan?
It’s been fun the thinking about all the great players. Wets the appetite for the future whenever that is.

Stay safe everyone
We’ve had so many ups and downs over the years we should add a rollacoaster to our badge
Would we swap any of it?
I actually felt a pang of guilt leaving out some great players like Martinez, Maloney and De Vos etc
This was so difficult
Roy Tunks- won us so many points on the road, and those penalty saves at Mansfield
Colin Methven – a mountain! “Weird Col”
Alex Cribley – great partnership with Weird Col, quick and versatile
Leighton Baines – the famous left foot! Quick and a mean attitude to win
Reece James – probably the best all round player to pull on a Latics shirt. I preferred him at left back but he could play anywhere
Graham Barrow – nobody but nobody messed with him on the pitch (or in the stands or terraces) and good for a few goals
Jimmy Bullard – the marathon man with spectacular shooting ability
Andy Liddell – skill and trickery, clever, goals , the lot
Charles N’Zogbia – the most skilful player we’ve ever had
Duke Ellington – unplayable. Superb in the air and devastating on the ground
Jason Roberts – icon. Perfect partner for the Duke and fabulous on his own
Subs
Emile Heskey
Wilson Palacios
Tommy Gore
Antonio Valencia
Dave Thompson (80s)
Ali Al Habsi
Gary CaldwellSo so many left out that I wanted put in
Stay safe everyone
Living nearly 10 whole miles north, and working nearly 10 whole miles east of Wigan, I genuinely never have any concept of any rugby being played. I never know if Warriors have a match from one month to the next. This is because nobody talks about rugby because nobody cares about rugby.
Are they on lockdown??
There’s a few of their gravy stained Noreen shirts on a few Chorley lasses.
Thats not gravy on those stains donny!

Rumour has that Puma are going to produce a kit with ppe incorporating full headwear and gloves. It’ll be a full onesie style suit, fit tested and a special vent to prevent the eye protection steaming up.
I’m all in favour and will definitely buy a replica kit, so long as it doesn’t have any green on it!
That’s my question too Runcorn. Football is still a contact sport (apparently) players have to get close to each other to foul, close to the referee to shout at him, close to the physio to receive the magic sponge etc etc.
Then there is all the back room staff, officials, medical staff, who won’t be busy elsewhere, needed for a match. How can they all stay safe?
Desperate for a Latics match now of any level. So long as nobody is put at risk.
Up the Tics
