Jason Scotland and boselli says enough really.
Alex Ferguson – VERON
Even the better managers get it wrong from time to time.
28m GBP – it cost Manure for and what – SFA :cheer:
I think we can allow Sir Alex a few mistakes eh ! ;)
You should have been more prepared for the drop like us Darksiders who have been saying it for the last 3
monthsyears or so ! I will relish the drop and cant wait either !
It really is like taking candy off a baby this winding up lark ! ha ha ha
You wont get anywhere with Ye Olde One as he is drenched in blind faith ! My opinion of RM is that he can ready a team for a one off cup game but on the whole his league form does leave a fair bit to be desired ! My opinion mind ! I think he would make a decent national coach myself !
Blind faith ????
So eight years in the Premier League and the FA Cup was just a dream ???
You won’t get anywhere with ye Olde window-cleaner either – he knows nowt
I merely gave my opinion on RM with a little wind up as my opening gambit, nothing wrong with that ! By blind faith I meant that I have never read anything remotely negative or critical from Ye Olde Oak ! Takes it on the chin and reverts back to the late 70’s early 80’s for perspective every time ! As for the style of play RM has instilled into the team, the foundations are certainly there but the lack of pace to shift the ball through midfield and lack of firepower have been bereft for large parts of his tenure and I just thought that it would have been remedied by now ! The defense also made the same mistakes consistently and despite RM saying that they were naive at times and would learn, they didn’t ! I am thankful for 8 seasons in the Prem and 2 cup finals, one coming to fruition but on the whole it has been a bit of a struggle and a return to the Championship will be greeted with excitement and anticipation from yours truly ! :)
Fil, you are quite correct (for once!) when you say I revert back to the 70s and 80s for my perspective (60s as well) and therein lies the difference between us. I am an old fashioned “supporter” who loves my club and my football whilst you are of the newer breed who has bought into the Premier League/Sky franchise and all the tripe that goes with it. When MY team suffers I suffer with them; their pain is my pain. You and your ilk however are consumers who complain like hell when everything doesn’t go your way as if you were buying a second hand car.
I don’t apologise for my 60s, 70s and 80s perspective and don’t forget that I used to sit near you so I am only too aware of your perspective.
i.e leaving early and verbally abusing players when the product is not to your liking.
I will say this just one more time…I do not nor have I ever verbally abused any of our players ! Yes I have been known to leave games early but that is my prerogative is it not ! You have either got me mixed up with someone else re shouting abuse or you are just simply a bare faced liar ! I would like to think that it is the former !
Hindsight eh ! Many said survival over FA Cup on a different thread ages ago ! Ramis was berated by many on here before his injury and yes we were poor even with a fully fit defense ! Certain things were not addressed in the January window and we just never really got going. The drop aint the end of the World but I would be concerned if we don’t hit the ground running because the ‘Double Drop’ is all to common an occurrence these days between the Prem and League One !

Getting over the footbridge quicker after games.
This does not apply to me if we are 2 or more goals down and playing utter garbage with the clock running down ! It is then that I enjoy a saunter over said bridge with the other usual suspects !
Was it a shock to the system last Saturday staying until the end and then spending a further hour in and around the ground afterwards.
No because we played well and won ! I don’t always leave early, it is a misconception started by some stalker in the East Stand ! I just play along with it ! ;)
I’d say you were the one hurting as a result of seeing there weren’t the swathes of empty seats at Wembley that you’d hoped for.
Only thanks to Man City managing to shift tickets for the lower tier from the corner flag to the halfway line, which were supposed to be for Wigan fans.
Yes, the spare seats in those areas were sold by City, but I think that the majority of those were originally corporate/sponsors areas that were never going to be part of Wigans allocation.
Our original allocation was up to the corner flag in the bottom tier and a few sections past the scoreboard on the top tier (21,000 in total).
The fact that we sold all those bar a few, and the rest of the top tier up to the half way line (4-6,000 more) is an astounding achievement.
The official figure will never be fully known, but to see on the day, the amount of people in Latics colours all over Wembley and across the whole of London was heart warming.
A truly remarkable day, and the biggest occasion and acievement the sporting town of Wigan has ever or will ever see.Wigan Athletic Football Club

And the first person I bumped into on leaving Wembley was Horc ! ha ha ha B)

Yes, this is Wigan Athletic and it wouldn’t surprise me if you were right !
Afterall, there’s nowt to lose on Saturday; just play with freedom, sneak a win ( my prediction is 1-0 with either Gomez or Scharner scoring )against all odds ! Then a resurgent Latics goes on to stay up ! That would be proper Boys Own / Roy of the Rovers Stuff !
I’M all for that how much would that piss folk off not only in our own town but the country media goodpost goodpost
Why our own town? you having a pop again at fans that know their stuff? Our biggest problem is ourselves this season as we consistently give soft goals away. Fringe players are poor as was on show last night.
Most fans on here want us to stay up but but are realistic. We got away with poor defending against West Brom but not last night.
Why do the people who hand criticism out after a result know any more than the rest of us?
Because they fear the drop !
Well if you were QPR would you want to beat Newcastle and further enhance the chances of them being in the same league as you next season with the record they have of coming straight back up ! I think Newcastle and Norwich will get at least a point a piece over the weekend which would make the trip to The Emirates a hell of a tough cookie !
They did it once! they are hardly taking the yoyo title off West Brom are they…
But buying in to your losing games on purpose theory for a second if QPR were to say well do we want Newcastle or Wigan to come down with us surely they would be mental to pick the team that will keep the majority of its players i.e. us over the team that will lose half the squad the manager and have little investment from the owner.
Chris Hughton did well to get them up last time, I dont think they would be as lucky if they went again.
And not for a second am I buying into this we would suddenly become a mid table team in the championship.
Nothing to suggest if we went down we wouldnt still line up with Maloney Kone and Mcmanaman across the front.
Arseholes would be torn in the Championship ! Its a tough league physically but there wouldnt be half as much pace or threat from counter attacks as has been a problem for us this season.
Wow ! some bright outlooks there ! :)

Stoke keep it simple.Martinez is much more imaginative. He introduced 3-4-3 last season and has taken his tactics further forward this season.
He had very sophisticated tactics against Spurs. Wigan played a nominal 4-3-3 in possession and 3-5-2 when out of it. In addition, McCarthy successfully marked Gareth Bale.
There are only 5 teams in the Prem that have conceded less goals than Stoke, they may be extremely boring and unimaginative upfront but they are a fairly well oiled machine at the back !
I was listening to the ground hog day post match interview with RM last night and wondered just how many of the 67 goals that we have shipped this season could have been avoided ?( Got to be more than half ! ) RM’s post match mantra has been pretty much the same now for 3 seasons and so the question of why has the defence coach not long since been dispensed with surely must be asked ? Sometimes one must just revert back to basics and get stuck in because this playing the ball out of our own half lark is not working really is it !
Can’t believe you’ve actually said that Phil.
Most of our goals are build up from the back, and if you don’t ‘play’ the ball from your own half, what do you do? Hoof and hope? There are times when the ball should have been cleared rather than passed out, but that’s down to the players’ poor judgement rather than manager’s tactics.
(And before you mention him accepting the blame for the farcical goal against Spurs, that was him trying to deflect blame from Robles and Figueroa)
By ‘Playing the ball out of our own half’ I actually meant the incessant dicking about for possession sake, even the keeper has started rolling it out to a defender ! We have conceded more goals as a result of this needless tactic than we have created goals. We should mix it up a little and stop being so predictable, if I was a manager of a side due to play us I wouldn’t waste any petrol money sending a guy up to watch us for tactical gain because there would be no need, every Tom Dick and Harry knows how we play ! More of Caldwell’s surge forward and direct pass like last night or perhaps some more long kicks from the keeper ( Not as long as last night mind ! ) to try out the defence, but this sideways backwards lark has sneaked back into our game with the same results as last time !
