Like Griff and Standish have said many times before, he isn’t going to say anything negative about his side to the media but one has to admit, his post match interviews are getting more bizarre by the week, not to mention his rapidly thinning hairline ! It’s a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it !
Bizarre? Bland maybe, but certainly not bizarre. Soemtimes his English is not 100% native but you try cleaning windows in Spanish and se how you get on ;)
Said it before, and I’ll say it again – I couldn’t give a monkey’s what he says in public, it’s what he says in the dressing room that matters.
There will always be those who twist words around from his statements that suit there own bizarre agendas
Ahem, I know what he says in the dressing room !! ;)
Griff, a question. Does that point earned on Saturday keep us in with a chance of staying up in your opinion ? Because you said that if we lost you feared the worst. We almost lost, didn’t play too well for the final 30mins ( That fitness thing again ? ) and we also conceded 2 goals again at home ( av 2.07 this season ) With that in mind does that single point leave you brimming with confidence ? Just a straight question on the back of our on the way to the ground chat ! :)
A point is better than none. I still think we have as much change of goign sdown as the other 5 teams at the bottom, maybe a couple more. By the same token, we have as much chance as them of staying up. I think teh fact that we played quite poorly yet didn’t lose is a good omen.
And what fitness thing? the one that enabled us to equalise in the last minute of the match?
The fitness thing that bar that late get out of jail free card ( Pending ) had us overrun for much of the last half hour ! You should have been a politician Griff with answers like that :) !
As what has been quoted before when you was on your sick bed the very same team that we pinched a point off run UTD close in the second half at Old Trafford with UTD resorting to the long ball stuff
Are you here again ? What the fuck are you talking about ? You are like that kid at the back when the fighting starts, waiting for someone to hit the deck then you can wade in with the boot !

Captains of our own destiny and he has had more than enough chances ! Look at George Best, given a new liver and a second chance and he pissed it up the wall when someone else could have had that liver ! If you saw someone on the street in the same state as Gazza was in that video you would think ” Look at that pisspot what a disgrace ” The only difference is, that pisspot would have no means of any help because they are just government statistics who nobody gives a fuck about whereas the likes of ex professional footballers have shit loads of money and connections to aid them in times of despair ! It was pitiful watching that video and I would say from the evidence of it that he wont make next Christmas which is a sad assessment for anyone let alone a guy who had so many chances to turn things around !
Many Lightsiders also know we cant carry on like this…
Carry on like what? Having a solvent football club to support?
I’m afraid unless Sheik Yer-money turns up real soon, we have absolutely no choice but to carry on exactly like his.
If you’re talking about things on the pitch changing, then for probably the 1000th time, I would ask how on earth you and others think that with the same personnel simply changimg the way we play will immediately make the team world beaters.
My we cant carry on like this quote was referring to surviving by the skin of our teeth each season, eventually the law of averages comes into play ! ( we shall put that one down to forum ambiguity plus the key fact, that you left out the last part of my sentence ! ) ;)

Shame!
I wonder what the prophets of doom would have to say if the Aiden McGeady reported transfer happened and forked out £6 million plus wages only to get injured three matches later
Oh dear !!
I beg to differ Filmoss but yes we can keep surviving like this. I’ve seen more than enough from Bobby’s teams and tactics to convince me he can turn it around …again!.We were outplayed by a a Southampton side on Saturday that were excellent on the day, just like we have been on many occasions.
The only thing that we lack is consistency. On our day, given our fair share of luck and key reffing decisions, we have shown that we can beat the best in this league. It’s the same manager, the same players, the same tactics whether we do excel or we flop. Bobby must be more frustrated than us as we only see the players on match days, he sees them every day in training and must think your looking good guys get out there and deliver.
Lets just agree to differ for the time being and reconvene around the business end of the season after the Easter period.
If you thought Southampton were a good side then I rest my case ! ;)
Thank fek you weren’t fighting in the trenches during WW1 or stuck behind enemy lines in WW2. :woohoo:I really hope this is a wind up and your white flag waving post was written tongue in cheek.
This season is far from over, ask the 3000 or so Southampton fans who made the trip up from the south coast how they felt when we did um on their own middin.
OK you might see me as a staunch Lightsider but I, like a few of the so called “big hitters” on here, look at the predicament from a realistic, take it as you see it perspective. I don’t think we deserve to be a top 10 club on this seasons form, but I also don’t see us as a doomed team by the beginning of February also.
Coming out with the comments you have made sets you up to be added to the merry band of end of season shrinking violets, just like Dave and LMB have been on more than one occasion.
I’m sure at some point the band of Darksiders will be able to bleat “We told you so” when we do get relegated, but I and many others on here will have had at least 7 glorious seasons of taking the pish out the media, other clubs, other clubs supporters and unbelievably some of our own fekin supporters.

I am guessing you didn’t read my post completely ! Many Lightsiders also know we cant carry on like this and will also not be surprised or over bothered when the drop comes ! Go on man, read my initial post properly but don’t try and vilify me for having an honest opinion ! I got banned from driving back in 1990 for a year and cycled around 10 miles a day with my ladder on my shoulder just to keep my business going so I am well versed in the art of digging deep to stay afloat ! I have stated several times that I WILL be a season ticket holder contrary to…Oh it doesn’t matter !
Oh and as far as not attracting players it would possibly help if Europes best young manager could maybe get us 5 or 6 places higher and not permanently resemble championship fodder !
So who would you like as the new manager that will take us to the next level ?
Well I thought Bruce did ok for us and despite what has happened to him since not many can deny that surely ! Sunderland are big time Charlies and will always put pressure on their managers. He had to accept the ‘Wigan Way’ and when a club like Sunderland came sniffing you couldn’t blame him really despite the added pressure that he subsequently placed upon himself ! He ain’t doin too badly these days though eh !
Oh yea Bruce what a guy, first sign of a big club opportunity would you say he would pledge is allegiance to the tigers
And who could blame him ! Have a look around at the managers merry-go-round this season ! Do you think RM would have stayed here if he had REALLY been offered the hot seat at Anfield ! The Villa turn-down reason is now quite evident and many could see that but don’t believe all you read re RM turning Liverpool down because there are many insiders who say he didn’t ! RM is doing the best he can to a certain degree here but his stubbornness re tactics needs to be addressed as it was last season. Come on Bob give us a plan B to throw the opposition !
Who mentioned the Anfield job or Villa for that matter you gave me Steve Bruce I repied he has let us down twice now real LOYAL that man his
Are you having me on or are you really stupid ? My reply was a loyalty based reply as a riposte to your anti Bruce reply. I will however ask you one more time. Do you think RM would have stayed here if he had REALLY been offered the Liverpool job ? All I was saying initially was that I would have Bruce back any time but that is just my opinion ! He had his reasons for leaving and I think his reasons were justified at the end of the day !

Think last season we had the Curent form Reading factor in that nobody gave us a prayer and we nicked results away at places like Sunderland and West Brom.
teams are showing us much more respect this season and that has made the games harder and harder to win.I think you have made some fair points but remember we were saying the same things last season, the season before and the season before that.
I posted on Saturday that no team gets relegated in February and I still think there will numerous
Twists and turns before it wraps up.the Reading game this month looks like a massive six pointer but I am certainly not writing the team off just yet and nor should you.Why is the press and everyone raving About bloody Southampton for Heavens sake? They we cr@p for an hour and grabbed a lucky goal and kicked us all over the park for half an hour-anyone thinking they are Certs for staying up needs to think again as they have the slowest back four I have seen this season and couldn’t finish a Sunday dinner-how many chances did the have???
it ain’t over yet by a long way!The very fact that Southampton were relatively poor for a good hour surely must question our ability to take vital points ( 3 not 1 ) from fellow relegation candidates especially at home ! Chelsea will no doubt have had a severe bollocking and I fear a backlash there. Reading are doing ‘A Wigan’ and I can honestly only see us getting a draw at best there. Liverpool are one of the form teams at the moment and Rodgers has them playing some good stuff and I honestly cannot see us getting anything from that one. That brings us to the City game and if they are going to catch Utd ( They wont ) they will have to start winning again regularly and I really don’t see us getting anything there either. So a predicted 1 point from the next 4 games leaves us 9 games to pull off the escape job again so we can only hope that a gap hasn’t formed by the time Newcastle and the French Connection hit town ! I am only being realistic and hope I am wrong but I wont complain when the fat lady sings her aria and in a way will embrace the next test for Wigan Athletic, to hold our own in the Championship and prove to the knockers that we wont drop through the leagues like the proverbial lead balloon ! I once feared the double drop but the squad is strong enough now even with the nailed on exits to at least give us something to cheer about should we go down.
